A great prophesy by Ray Davies in his lyric, " I like my football on a Saturday" Which was the norm in the 60s 70s and 80s and which many fans I know would like to see return. Kick off at 3pm, a few pints before. Full time 4-45. And time to get home and have the evening ahead. How can crowds create a good atmosphere on a cold Monday night at a 8-15 kick off. Or have to wait until late evening to go the match. Ray Davies produced some of the greatest songs of all time.
When I listen to this song I think of people in England getting soaked in a cold rain coming home from watching football looking forward to roast beef dinners.
Gotta agree with you there, that or being sat in an old English pub next to a crackling fire with a nice pint of bitter and a packet of ready salted crips
