There is a new move that you pretty much forgot kirby can Dodge now by holding the Gard button and moving the left joy stick Kirby can move in an acrobatic Dodge by dodgig any attack at the right time you can get back to attacking enemies and bosses doing so making bosses easier than usual
I don’t know if it’s new game excitedness, but I feel like this is the best one in a long time. New ideas, new dimensions, and just new level design philosophies.., it just feels right.
Probably not the best I have only played 2 Kirby games and it’s now 3 thanks to land and it’s a solid 8/10, but there may be one that is better, idk, please share your opinions, I wanna see!
2:52 the developers actually made the game in a way so that if an attack looks like it'll hit, it hits. The camera angle changes the hitbox width basically, which I think is really cool.
This is the first Kirby game where I was just having fun and didn’t realize I got an achievement while doing it. I instinctively went to bring the ducklings to their mother without a second thought- not even realizing that was an objective. That’s high praise.
I would say Planet Robobot would be a really cool game to try out for the channel of you go back to any of them. I think it has one of the most fun main gimmick twists on the kirby formula and the level design really does justice to the robot theme in. And Kirby dubstep. That never hurts too
@@Zero_de_Nova yes. With the pink marshmallow defeating the Eldritch horror of the week, then sitting down to enjoy some cake and/or take a nap. I see nothing wrong with this.
I only have Star Allies to compare, and while that wasn't inherently a bad game, it did leave something to be desired. I'm only in the second world in Forgotten Land, but I'm having a blast. It'll probably rank on my list of favorite video games in general.
Star allies was my least favorite kirby game even including spin offs that weren't my thing. I've played most kirby games. They worth going back to if you like 2D platform/action games. Kirby & the forgotten land is definitely different. I haven't beat it yet but I wouldn't put it in my top 3 yet. Seeing how it's going it'll probably will make top 3 by the end though tbh. Depends on how the later levels are tbh. Right now I'd say top 5 tho. I'm at the 3rd area/world after alolan woods.
Star Allies is alright, and there’s a lot to play with after the DLC, but even with that, I still rather play any other RtD style Kirby game over that one tbh
I don’t know where this game would go on my hypothetical Kirby tier list but Forgotten Land is definitely very high. i’m about 8 hours in to my 100% play through and am loving it so much. Planet Robobot is my favorite and this may be up there with it. This is a huge step up from Star Allies
I've already played through the first two worlds as well and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite Kirby games! This is one of the best new Kirby games in ages! I haven't been this excited about a new Kirby game since Super Star! It feels like a great mix of old and new! Now all we need is a new full 3D Donkey Kong game...
I heard supposedly there’s going to be a new DK to be be announced either this year or the next 😳 DK is my personal fav series and buying Kirby (which is my first Kirby game) and instantly loved it. Imagine 3D for DK? Uuuuufffg one could dream of not I would love another Returns or Tropical Freeze but for them to gain the rights to make King K Rool the main villain again I think that’d be amazing as well
@@psymar wrong again. traditional Japanese name writing puts last name before first. kirby's full name in Japanese is Hoshi no Kaabii, with "Hoshi" meaning "star". meaning, his last name is indeed "Stars"
You know, when this game was announced, I kind of thought that the animal copy ability was returning because the little dog creatures looked like the ones from kirby's squeak squad.
Choc's nostalgia trip about past Kirby games reminded me that I once spent 40+ minutes grinding out The True Arena using only the Stone ability. Anybody else remember that?
For your question about how it ranks among other Kirby games, I started with Return to Dreamland on the Wii, and I'd say that this game holds up very well. Also, for giving Kirby a last name, I'm tempted to go the Mario route and make his name Kirby Kirby.
Planet Robobot is an absolute banger and I'd love to see you play it. Also, Kirby is not easy. Very common misconception for those who have never 100 percented a Kirby game. The main games may be easy, but the True Arenas are anything but.
7:48 "too easy, throw a challenge at me." and hasn't played the last few kirby games? Oh boy... someone's in for a bumpy ride Edit: This game is currently tied with Kirby 64 as my favorite Kirby game.
Friendly Tip for people Starting out on Kirby and The Forgotten Land: ICE IS BROKEN. BLOCKING WITH ICE MAKES YOU COMPLETELY INVINCIBLE (Except for Grabs and Puddle Hazards)
Red rooms you can just reenter them to try again. Getting more waddles dees opens more portals to get those stars you’ll need to upgrade abilities. Don’t forget you can guard and dodge which is very useful especially in later boss fights.
If your gonna play the older Kirby games for content, as a ultra super star fan of Kirby, I must recommend: 1. Kirby Robobot. Its my second favorite and has awesome locales, great powerups, Amazing music (and some remixes of older ones), and excellent bosses. Also you can Gurren Laagan in this game, plus there's Susie, one of my favorite girls in games. The in-game story (You have to read it in the pause screen, otherwise you'll miss it.) Is quite dark too. 2. Kirby Return to Dream Land. Its an all around excellent game, and its oddly satisfying to play with friends. It has a perfect pace, some hidden bosses, and all around EXCELLENT music. Plus it as my boy Magalor. Fantastic character. 3. Kirby Air Ride. If you haven't played it. Its best with friends but to me, is the peak of kart racers.Easy to understand and learn, but difficult to perfect. Also: CITY TRIAL. God I would love to play that with friends again... Overall a quite enjoyable time. Probably could be a one-off or two-off. 4. Kirby and the Crystal Shards. I kinda have to shill this game, since its my favorite after all. Great gimmick, Legendary soundtrack, Amazing bosses, its just the perfect package. (For me.) - To burst your bubble though, Kirby has an anime series actually. Its pretty good and hilarious.
The transition to 3D is so smooth here. The narrowing down of copy abilities doesn't even feel that constricting, with the upgrade system. I do miss the variety of moves available to each ability, but the jump to 3D kinda necessitated it. I want them to bring back fighter in this style in a future game. Solid 9/10 game.
'Kirby's kind of a badass, though.' Choc, you have no idea. Death Battle determined that the little pink blob is even more dangerous than DBZ's Majin Bu.
100 percented today. Definitely one of my favorites from the Kirby franchise. To be fair, that’s most of them. :) I’d say Triple Deluxe is my favorite Kirby game followed by Robobot, so this could be tied for third or fourth place. An interesting point that you consider Kirby 64 to be a 3D game. I think it classifies as 2.5D, since you’re on a track the whole time, even if the camera angle changes. I do think many similarities can be drawn between that and this game however, with the most notable being King DeDeDe’s redesign. Looking forward to seeing your reactions to Kirby’s first 3D outing!
"People step on the moving sidewalk and stop moving, why?" Idk, that would imply that they're walking against it at that point. Also, to answer the question of where this game is on my list, easily top 3.
You joke about a deathless run, but when playing the game I didn't die ONCE for the entire main adventure. My first death was delivered by the neon blue Clawraline from the post game. So yeah, difficulty definitely wasn't on their minds when making the game.
While at first I was thinking this would be my third favorite, after about 50% completion, I think this might have become my favorite one. Hope they add on more in the future, either free or paid I’ll be there in a heartbeat
About Kirby's last name, he was actually named after someone called John Kirby, who defended Nintendo when Universal Studios sued them because Donkey Kong was similar to King Kong. So maybe Kirby is actually his last name
I held off on watching this to avoid spoiling myself, but this is such a great game (up there with the 3ds games which were the only games I played before this besides star allies) and I enjoyed every second of it and I'm glad you are too :)
Ok I loved your intro on this video and would definitely love to see more like it! Even if it's with just game clips instead of a full animation it would be awesome to see how you grew up with these games and such!
Seeing Choc leave an orange star door when those puzzles are infinitely retry-able by just leaving and re-entering the room, not the level, THE ROOM, gave me so much pain...
Not including this game since I’ve yet to beat it, my favorite Kirby that I’ve played would be Planet Robobot, with Star Allies as a close second (Star Allies is probably pretty mediocre objectively, but for me personally I had a blast with it, mainly due to nostalgia lol)
I'm excited to watch you play!! This looks so fun, I can't wait to pick up my copy 😊 Also, an LP of Kirby 64 would be pretty cool, that one is my favorite Kirby game 👀
18:24 definitely in the top 5. On the level of my #1 planet robobot. Maybe like just under superstar ultra. I think Mass Attack will always be my #2 but this kind of makes a weird shuffle putting Squeak Squad under both, because I cant have superstar ultra not on my top 4 but also feels weird to knock squeak squad down to #5.
Loving the video so far, and I would love it if you played Kirby 64 at some point! The power combos should make for good content and the sound track is masterful.
I've been a Kirby fan since the "Super Star Ultra" game on the DS. I can safely say that "Kirby and the Forgotten Land" easily ranks in my personal top 3 favorite Kirby games ever. Up in the top with Kirby Air Ride and Kirby Planet Robobot
Hurricanes, if I recall, always go through the same set of names. The first hurricane of the year always gets the same name, then the second and third and so on get the same names as usual. So…..no, hurricane Kirby hasn’t happened and probably never will.
Ok, this is exciting to see, I'm also going through this game as well alongside everyone else and it's great hearing everyone's thoughts about it. also side note I didn't know you played overwatch before, it's my new hyperfixation as of december 2021 (so two months lmao)
