I don't recommend eating big meals like that if you're a truck driver, u don't need all that food, you don't do anything but drive, all that food is unnecessary.

I think this is a great idea that someone who works with drivers in an office setting, goes home every night, sits down and has dinner with his or her family and has more time to relax at home actually goes out with a driver and experiences the road life with another driver. This should be part of the training videos that ALL office employees including payroll should watch.

All FMCSA rule/law proposers should have to ride along before pushing these almost draconian Elogs, mandates, etc. They really should require FMCSA's to ride annually like CE's in school. Ijs. Would be nice.

I drove for Knight back in 20011 for several years. I was a trainer for one year. Knight is now Merged with Swift and it's quality of Drivers has gone down a lot. As for not being just another driver, well that is BS!!! When I left to work for another Truck company, I am pretty sure there was already another person driving the POS rig I had when I was with Knight/ Swift Transportation.

As a 20+ year veteran of the trucking industry and a video producer, I have to say good job Knight. You have the bravado to put forth the initiative to combine office personnel and drivers on the front lines AND video the journey. This is something that the trucking industry is slow to respond to. This is how you recruit in 2016. I know how much time and effort is needed in this type of video. Whoever you have paid to shoot and edit this just earned their paycheck 100% Good job all the way around...

As a former trucker and a former Knight driver, I really appreciate what this guy did. This should be mandatory for all dispatchers and most upper leadership as well. There is nothing worse than being stuck with a immature dispatcher that obviously has never left home trying to tell you about certain things out on the road. It's good to walk a mile in the shoes of those you will have so much control over. I really enjoyed my time with Knight so it doesn't really surprise me that someone in this good trucking company would do this. Good people make for a good company.

T.J was an awesome terminal manager, who went to bat for me a few times. the driver managers out of that slc terminal weren't as good. i really wish they would have done this when i drove for them, especially when i was in their lease/purchase program. things might have went differently if they had. I always got the feeling that very few of them that were higher than drivers actually cared. T.J was one of them.

it's like watching a small potato start to grow! Before he grows into a big potato. Such is life. We are all small potatoes. Even you, hot chicks! Such is life. I'm a driver too... but this is a corporate video. Most of us are small potatoes. Unless we grow into big fat potatoes but then we're still just potatoes So are the rich people who make us drive. We are all potatoes. If we get buried we send shoots up from our core that gives new life. If Knight is a good company then awesome for them.... I don't think there is anyone more qualified for a driving position than an honest person who doesn't put up with any bullshit. my two cents. you're welcome, Knight.

Ok today I had my opinion of who is "just a driver" proven to me, so here's where your vp's viewpoint should IMO change. I had one of my own drivers blow past me in a shippers yard because he was frustrated he couldn't turn around and back in where he was at, then he clogged the whole shippers yard up because he couldn't back up, to top it all off he stole my assigned empty from the shipper without telling them! That to me is just a driver that doesn't care about any other driver!!!! A professional drive is patient, considerate, and helps other drivers out! What was funny to me was that driver got reported by me and the shipper and had to bring the trailer back to me!!! :) I was on a dedicated drop and hook run to this shipper. So that to me is what the difference is between just a driver and a professional driver is.

I'm quite sure if you only drive 400 miles a day in good weather, I'm sure your driver manager would tell you that they expect more(much more). I think knights trucks are governed at 65mph, you can drive 600+ miles a shift. I drove for a company that had their trucks governed at 65mph, and I consistently drove 625 miles(or more) each shift(weather permitting)

It's been over 9 years since I drove a truck. All that Time the thought of returning to trucking has faded but trucking is still in my blood and despite what some people think, I deserve a second chance. My first experience on the road I made some mistakes but I'm willing to learn the lessons and put them to good use. I want to do it again and work towards a blessed career.

When you first go/report there for training? Can you start at the terminal of choice ? Or does it go by closest terminal to the zip code on your drivers license? Great Video by the way very informative, detailed, well done! Congratulations too the person/persons that made it .😊

I have done this and it is a hard life away from wife and, in my case, small children. It was many years ago but I still remember how much I enjoyed driving over the road and I do miss it, but I could not do what I did then, I've gotten older and much softer.. Much kudos to the men and women making our deliveries so that we can enjoy life!

There is no way I would want to be out on the road and only getting home once a month. Forget that! I drove a class eight semi for six months hauling a utility tractor in the top dresser and a Kubota front and loader doing sports turf maintenance and it was extremely stressful

A terminal that has a shower that’s definitely a luxury. Of course I very seldom spent a night in a terminal. Get your trailer and hit the road
