After several failed rounds of IVF, an artist retreats to her remote cabin to throw herself into work -- only to be met by a dark presence that ultimately forces both a confrontation and a choice.
THE KNOWING is an award-winning short psychological horror film that explores the often unspoken trauma of infertility, and pregnancy loss. It’s about identity, pressure, choice, and how a woman's relationship with this beast is unlike any other.

I absolutely loved this! Beautiful, impactful work. Non-linear storytelling works exceptionally well here, and I couldn't get enough of the soundtrack too -- the score based on heartbeat is unique and really adds to the whole picture. Great acting as well! It facsinates me how in most of the horror movies I've seen recently, where women are protagonists, the horror is built around childbirth and parenting. Very representative of today's world. Hopefully, one day reproductive rights are more widely accepted worldwide, so this topic could retire as a horror subgenre.

Dealing with miscarriages and watching this was a bit of a trigger. Good acting and the filing and production were great as well. Good video overall ❤

So it must've been that the child whom her aunt had been forced to kill either before or after giving birth to it, having had no choice for she had been very young when she got pregnant and had no one & nowhere to go to, & maybe she also suffered from postpartum depression, had turned into this beast who makes her presence known to her niece, and that this entity is actually her cousin,. And now, after having had so many failed pregnancies in the past, i think they finally found their 'baby', instead of having to adopt...

I think that if this is a horror about the so called "trauma" of infertility, then they haven't experienced the real horror/nightmare involved with pregnancy and childbirth!!! It can be life-threatening. But infertility is just something a person wants, is all.

you know what happens when you get pregnant and have a baby? you are rewarded for your efforts. it can be hard, yes, but you get to go home with a baby! in this scenerio, they either couldnt get pregnant or misscarried. its just insulting to say that infertility wouldn't be traumatizing for someone or affect more of their lives then just their "wants."

@@mayflower5193 I need to say that I completely and utterly "disagree" with you on that subject. This is predominantly because I had suffered the worst nightmare imaginable with a pregnancy/childbirth and the end result, the baby, was no gift, believe me - just a whole barrage of pooping, screaming, dribbling, non-stop and far worse. The whole thing, from begining to end was a terrible misery (I won't even bother to go into all the gory details) but looking back on that horrible/horrifying ordeal, I wish to God that I had've been "infertile" as it would've "saved" me all of that horrendous misery. It was certainly something I could have done without (but I cannot turn the clock back). And therefore I am completely unable to understand your point. I strongly believe that infertility and wanting one of those creatures is not a physical ordeal (e.g. no carrying for nearly a year, weighing you down, no sickness, no agonizing pain, no blood-loss or hemorrhaging, no creature screaming all night long, etc, etc). There are "better" things in life. I therefore would advise that you would do far better to focus on all of the many other things in life, or maybe just try and get a life. A kid maybe something someone just wants or craves for but not actually what anyone "needs". But obviously you haven't experienced any of this misery. But if all of this trauma is what you think you need in your life, then I honestly can't understand that. I am more understanding of abortion and sterilisation, and for women not having to be reproductive hosts........ I rest my case.
