Michael Jordan was COACHING Kobe Bryant MID GAME, while competing against him. Holy dude! A legend receiving pointers from The Legend. RIP Kobe Bryant.
The fact that MJ responded to Kobe’s question with actual advice and not with trash talk shows that Mike knew this kid was different. Game recognize game.
Jordan was retiring and there's no need to act tough he is passing the torch. if kobe was on Jordan's era he would fcking trashtalk kobe everytime hahahaha
@@franzrivera1316jordan was not retiring yet. The game in question happened in 97 Kobe’s rookie year. The game he dropped 33 points off the bench. Jordan hadn’t even won his 5th chip yet
Kobe Bryant was asking Michael Jordan for tips on how to improve in the middle of their game against each other, which shows exactly the amount of respect he had and still has for Jordan and the fact that Jordan actually gave him tips showed what kind of a player he is, and what type of greatness he was passing on to the younger generation of players who grew up watching and idolizing him. Two of the greatest to have ever played, alongside Magic, and I'm grateful for what they have given to this sport.
+Jasmine A. M let's be honest Mj was so much better than kobe it isn't even funny and kobe isn't even the best player of his generation Tim Duncan is end of subjeect the LA hype machine.
Let's be honest you know crap shit bout bball. Kobe and MJ are almost on par give and take other than leadership but Kobe had lil more entertainment value. Duncan is good but no where near Kobe not to mention LeBron is even better than Duncan.
For kobes first 2 seasons, I remember thinking he played like a scared little kid. He definitely did not carry himself as a veteran. In his 3rd season you really saw him gain confidence and his minutes shot to 40 per game.
@@byrongammonbyrongammon9937 I think of it more as he studied jordan. It's not easy enough to just "copy" the style of Michael Jordan. That takes a significant level of skill, training and preparation.
@@thomaswoodman6523 I always believed Kobe was the closest player to MJ but never believed him to be better or the next MJ, he was just Kobe Bryant. He's a legend in his own right. It is sad though ppl are using his death to hype up how amazing he was in life.
Yeah...that was so cool to see....mj knows that this kid kb has the potentials to become a potent player or he is the shadow of mj in terms of basketball skills....its like an older brother giving loving advice to his little brother to improve more that talent kb had !
Like Kobe said RIP him and Jordan knew well which players they can intimidate and which they can't,those player that they had same DNA in there blood as they do they can't.
By the end of MJ's run on the Wizards you know not only was seeing what Kobe was doing but hearing from Phil about what Kobe was doing behind the scenes. Kobe had two avenues to pick up what would MJ be doing at this point. When MJ was a Bull and Kobe was just entering the league he was still just a kid, as talented as any kid as your gonna see but a kid. It's really cool the relationship develope to what is was. MJ knew Kobe was on his way, and no one better to pass this on too. Just as Magic and Bird did to him. It's easy to respect someone who wants what you got and willing to work to get it. It was about Rings money will come. Not many guys are like that.
Crazy how Jordan told the reporter the exact words/advice he gave Kobe. 0:39 The way they sync it up when they were both on the court gives me chills. Amazing.
After Jordan left in 98 it took me a while to watch basketball again but Kobe was the reason I started back. Thanks mamba. RIP to Kobe, his daughter, and the other 7 people on that helicopter. That shit is sad man.
RIP to a legend and his daughter. Let us also not forget the other poor souls who lost thier lives on the incident. May they all move on and have peace.
All the people with Kobe and his Daughter were apart of their lives and worked hard with the Black Mamba academy and the kids. All are very special and have wonderful souls. May they move on as bright stars in the universe. RIP.
WS 95 look at you all emotional!!!, If you know He made an impact, then why are you being an ass right now, Try and impact people as well before you die instead of exposing your dumb self!!!
Humble isnt the word id use to describe michael. He was cool because he respected kobe for the unique talent he was. Its just that simple. He probably wouldve ignored any other rookie (or sophomore). Not worth his time. Jordsn isnt exactly "humble" to fans either. Michael may be goat but hes also known to be a major A-hole too. Its ironic how kobe was labeled a jerk, aloof while Mike's praised for humility when the truth was really the opposite off the court.
4eightyvolt you're wrong. Plain and simple. Michael does have that cocky attitude but he always gave credit to the greats before him like Magic and even David Thompson before Magic. Countless stories about how he's worked with younger players, specifically spending hours with his young players in Charlotte. Michael also gives A TON back financially to people less fortunate and just recently bank rolled new hospitals in the Charlotte area. Just because he doesnt take every picture with fans or sign every autograph that doesnt make him an A-hole. Your comment couldn't be further from the truth... Fact.
@@4eightyvolt You OBVIOUSLY never saw the documentary "The Last Dance" Jordan was signing a kids autograph in the middle of of busy traffic. You can hate all you want because Jordan beat your favorite player. But MJ was very Humble. You on the other hand, i'm not so sure about.
4eightyvolt No one ever was like that with MJ in Kobe and they became close through it and MJ was so competitive so when played in the finals and stuff he’s just there to win and it’s not like he was being really rude he was just competitive
Mj giving him tips on how to do a move was touching. Didn’t matter who was the best, MJ put him up on game! All of these men deserve the upmost respect just off that!
Chargx it sucks not being able to see the footwork the fadeaways and ball fakes.... Kobe really copied Jordan's footwork and midrange game to a T .. but Jordan had a slight slight better midrange game in my opinion . MJ averaged 30 a game for his career and he retired EARLY two different times .
And the fact that Kobe who's considered on of the best ever said Jordan is the goat even said lebron doesn't have the killer instinct that he and Jordan had that could tell you why lebron will never be consistent the best
The relationship between MJ and Kobe is so fun to watch. It seems like MJ was really happy to meet a guy who was so similar to himself, look into at a younger version of himself.
Eder Guita You won't leave anything behind in this world, the only thing you bring to the next world are your deeds. That's where hellfire or heaven will be your destination.
"I shoot better when the clock is running down." What a god damn legendary beast! I spoke with a couple younger kids one day about Kobe. The admiration and respect they had for Kobe was immense. Some of them couldn't believe some of his accomplishments on court. Kobe will be mythic status in no time.
"How technically sound Michael was" -0:18 ...The way Kobe mention MJ is so heartwarming for me, it sounds like they are a family. It's like listening to this little brother telling story about his big brother, and they both played in basketball league, in different team and being opponent on the court
The respect that Kobe showed MJ when asking him for advice, allowed MJ to see that he needed to pass the torch to someone. That someone was KB. RIP Kobe.
@Flip Arrachi I agree with that. But I think MJ knew he would leave soon and he saw something in Kobe that I think reminded him of himself. Hence the passing of the torch, even if it wasn't immediately. I think someone as ferociously competitive as MJ, its always going to be hard for him to give advice to a competitor.
The difference with Kobe and LeBron is simple Kobe was willing to learn so that's why Jordan could give advice on basketball or just life in general LeBron was already self-proclaimed "king James" ah ah ah so......
I mean if you are Micheal jordan, you worked hard and won. years later, Suddenly a young kid rise with similar of your moves. You will love it like Michael did,
Mr Blue Sky I’m not, I missed it. But I remember the Bulls playing the Pacers on the tv once when I was little kid and that gd Reggie Miller pissed me off fouling Mike lol I didn’t know what was going on but all I knew was Michael Jordan was the greatest and you didn’t hit him 😠 Lol. Things were just different back then. If I was a little kid today watching these current guys I wouldn’t give a shit.
I used to hate Kobe when I was younger, because I was such a Jordan fan. As I got older, my respect level increased. Because he never backed down from Jordan-you gotta love that.
I’ve never like Kobe cause of his attitude and lack of leadership but I never doubted his greatness and if he forgot to ask Jordan for something was on how to be a leader and bring the best in others. Kobe could have had minimum 7 rings
I used to hate MJ because of what he did to Magic Lakers, I hated that he have perfect moves and I have to deal 6 championships watching Him, but when I heard that there is a guy who plays like MJ in Lakers it was a relief, when MJ retired I missed him playing, but good that Kobe moves like Mike, I enjoy watching Kobe, it’s like always watching in slow motion.
I hate Kobe and the Lakeers when I was a kid too lmfao. Hell I hated anyone who went up against the MJ and the bulls during that Era. I have so much respect for Kobe and would put him at #1-2 as the best Laker of all time.
Night in and night out...just like Michael he left it all on the floor every single game he played. Thats the difference between guys like MJ and Kobe and the rest, and when I say 'the rest' that includes "King James" and his on/off hustle switch!
0:38 🐐🐐 .... I cant even watch Kobe videos now without shedding a tear I swear and he wasn’t even my fav player .... his whole story is just heartbreaking man .... RIP and thanks for the memories
Get out of here. All you fools are flooding the comments about only his death instead of his basket ball skills. Where were you when he was alive? Stop looking for thumbs ups. I have been watching these videos for years and you can find you can find my comments on every one of his videos YEARS ago.
Kobe earned MJ's respect because Kobe started with respect. MJ took him under his wing and nurtured him. Kobe didn't act stupid like Stackhouse who talked smack to the media which then gave Jordan the ammunition to destroy him and mentally scar him for the rest of his career as a vastly inferior player. Instead he saw Kobe as the guy with the right mindset and skillset to be a successor and gave him the knowledge he had attained to succeed. Jordan is the Master and Kobe is his best ever student.
*_"MJ took him under his wing and nurtured him"_* What a bunch of bullshit. You make it sound like Michael trained him or something. He didn't. They had mutual respect for each other, and Michael obviously gave him some tips, but he didn't "take him under his wing" or "nurture him". Dumbass.
You wake up on a regular day and say damn Kobe is no more.. Why oh why? That very part where Kobe was asking Mike about some tips and Jordan responding that's humility and true sportsmanship right there. I love those guys and I love NBA. May the soul of the departed rest in peace
One class act learning from another class act. You know you’re a legend when your opponent asks you for advice. You know you’re a legend when you take that advice and surpass the legend.
@@MikeFoxGolf Uh yeah, but by any measure he didn't surpass Jordan. At all.. Accomplishments, metric, whatever you choose, Jordan was better. Look it up.
Kobe had great fook work. However kobe lacked the edge. Jordan had the edge. His pressence on the court was overwhelming! Examine the space jordan created between himself and his opponent! Says it all
@@goonwop4531 He ended up in charred pieces, so you're half right. They crashed going 180mph into a hill. That's supercar speed smashing into a wall. Then there was fire. There won't be much to cremate.
@@x78340 Let people grieve how they want to. It's important. "The whole world" is not literal in this context but for sure it was felt round the world as a quick Google search will show.
Imagine one great being schooled by another... Kobe took what MJ said seriously....Lebron was mesmerized by Kobe.... Just a beautiful inspirational connection right there

It was awesome to see Kobe Bryant in the NBA BEING the best basketball 🏀 player I have ever seen since Michael Jordan, I can't believe he's gone and his daughter gig.
I have never met someone I have missed this much in my life. Everyday listening to you while you were on this earth inspired me to be a better version of myself in all aspects of life. R.I.P Kobe
Some people don't understand the level of total skill MJ had. This is a guy who won the scoring title and DPOY in the same year. What makes him special are his actual skills and bball IQ. Kobe understands this more than anyone. MJ can basically do whatever the hell he wants, with much less effort.
He won scoring title, defensive player of the year, and the MVP no one else has ever done this and probably won't see anyone do it anytime soon MJ=GOAT
Prayers and fond memories are what we have to remember Kobe and Gianna and all the Families. We want to offer our prayers and condolences to you and your family. God gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Isaiah 40:29. May God comfort you among the other mourners. Love you all!
seeing MJ and kobe like that side by side was priceless. I also dug how kobe went to MJ for advice in the middle of the game and jordan dropped some knowledge onto the young grasshopper or should i say the young bull
the level of professionalism and regard for the fans..not just fans...it's really kids who they've inspired and their parents have taken them to the game because of this inspiration. Jordan and Kobe understood this.
Kobe did a lot of interviews, I'm surfing all of them since he died, I think God wants us to celebrate his life sharing his knowledge to all of us, so now we all have a little mamba mentally thanks to him. Rest in Power Kobe. Thank you so much!
JonW whats the problem on trying to be like mike?i dont understand people who keep saying that he wants to be michael jordan , i mean why wouldnt you? wouldnt you wana play like michael jordan? i for one love the fact that he does try to emulate michael jordan .michael jordan was a pleasure to watch and for kobe to continue playing like him is aswell .so either your imature or just dont like kobe for stupid reasons.
mantoniol24 Never said anything is right or wrong about it.. just that he does, and I wouldn't care enough about it to go into a big thing about it. There's positives and negatives to everything.
MJ really never or rarely had given advise to opposing player. this goes to show that MJ respected Kobe's game ..MJ knew that Kobe would become one of the greatest then ..
He took Kobe aside and mentored him. He picked the people that he wanted to spend his time on. Back then, he knew Kobe was special. Mike does not even talk to his teammates (except for a select few) because he felt they are beneath him (well most of them).
Michael reaches out to a ton of young guys....countless stories of him at Charlotte practice teaching the young guys. People need to do their research....
Kobe brought to the game for us what Jordan brought to the game before us as far as generations of fans. My uncle who is 10 years older than me watched Jordan. I watched Kobe. So I saw the transition if the game. My mans brought all that for us and I appreciate that! RIP KOBE! 😥😥😣😣😭😭💪💪🔥🔥
Kobe will always be underrated the media hated him the fans turned on him but through his hard work and dedication he gained the respect of the majority of people , r i p kobe bean and all others who lost their lives , and shout out jordan the greatest
