GH5 footage graded with the CinePrint16 film emulation powergrade.

CinePrint16 improves the accuracy of the Kodak 2383 PFE LUT by preparing input footage to closer match the saturation & density of a scanned negative before it is passed through the LUT.

Nice! What I like about it, is that it looks modern and vintage at the same time. Modern quality but with some vintage film softness. I think that's just perfect. I wouldn't change anything.

@TomBolles
@TomBolles 3 года назад
@@INSTINCT777 For this video, yes it was pretty easy since I was using a front variable diopter (Rapido FVD 16A). I've also shot dual focus, which allows me to use a 50mm taking lens without much vignetting. These two videos are dual focus: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dyrq8qj7V9Y.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7KAoaw-86f8.html Dual focus only works if you have a stationary subject, or if you're able to follow the subject and maintain distance so focus stays the same. You can't do any rack focusing. So it does limit your flexibility and what you're able to shoot.

Is your power grade compatible with Fujifilm F-Log on the XT3? Thank you
@TomBolles
@TomBolles 3 года назад
Yes, F-Log is a supported gamma in Davinci Resolve. You would choose F-Log as your input gamma, and Rec. 2020 as your input color space You can see in the F-Log documentation that the gamut is Rec. 2020: dl.fujifilm-x.com/support/lut/F-Log_DataSheet_E_Ver.1.0.pdf More info: community.acescentral.com/t/fujifilm-f-log-in-resolve-without-an-idt/2795

@@TomBolles what about S-Log!?? seriously considering learning how to color in Davinci just to be able to get this look with my Sony A7siii. I've been using the Joel Famularo LUTs and those have been beautiful, but this film emulation is on another level. The texture is unreal.

So after you edit with the nodes from Cineprint you add a node and apply the Kodak 2383 LUT?

No, this is the same version you have. I put "improved" just to indicate this powergrade is different from how most people typically use 2383

@Björn Tobiasson Yes it seems there is an issue using the RGB mixer in HSL color space in Resolve 17. I do not have a fix yet, but once I do I'll post an update, then existing users can contact me and I'll send them the fix.

Is there any way I can use this with photoshop/CameraRaw for my pictures??
@TomBolles
@TomBolles 3 года назад
You can use this powergrade on raw photos within Resolve. I’ve done this myself a number of times. Whatever raw file type your camera outputs, convert that to .DNG raw using lightroom or photoshop. Then in Resolve you apply the powergrade and in the raw tab you can select color space and gamma. I recommend P3 D60 and gamma 2.4. Then in the powergrade just make sure you set the CST inputs to P3 D60 and gamma 2.4.

While overall it's beautiful, I don't like the extra teal I'm seeing there (it makes all walls and bed sheets look teal, while film was not doing that). Also, you need to still remove the high frequencies of the yellow color (the greenery looks radioactive, while it's more muted in film). This is one of the problems with Resolve, there's no good way to do that, while there are special options for that on BaseLight (Hollywood's primary grading tool).
@TomBolles
@TomBolles 3 года назад
The walls of that room are a pretty saturated blue in real life. Here’s a photo I took in that same room with a completely different grade/edit: flic.kr/p/2jeu3Hf Something I’ve noticed with the way many people apply the 2383 PFE to their footage is they’re using a very narrow range within the LUT and are missing out on richer greens. You’ll see people ending up with brown/yellow greens which usually look a little off. So in the grade of this video I went for more vibrant greens-perhaps I pushed it too far for some tastes-but that’s certainly something you can dial back. I would be curious to hear what tools you use in Baselight and how it’s different from Resolve. I’ve watched a few videos on Baselight but don’t have much knowledge of it beyond that.

@@EugeniaLoli I agree with you that green is not real enough in the picture. In addition to technical treatment, I think it should also be considered from the perspective of aesthetics. I bought this powergrade and learned some useful techniques.
