Today’s feature video debuts the large Komatsu D475A-5E0 crawler dozer. It is a 2022 build capable of massive earthmoving at little effort.
Let’s dig into the setting.
The machine is currently moving heaps of sand and construction material and debris to clear the land for a residential plot near Al Jada in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
The project started around mid-January upon the completion of a few residential and infrastructural structures around the area. A project led by Sharjah’s top developers, Arada.
The rental fleet comprised of this and multiple other units, namely the Cat D8T, D9R, and Caterpillar D9 GC. Together, these machines move earth at a very satisfying rate. The big Komatsu alone pushes a 34.4 m3 SU dozer blade, combined with the other Cats that push just as efficiently and quickly, brings this project to a close quite quickly.
The Komatsu D475A-5E0 crawler dozer is a powerful machine with an 800 horsepower engine and a total operating weight of over 115 tonnes. It is designed to handle tough terrain and heavy loads, making it a popular choice for large-scale earthmoving projects around the world. In addition to its impressive size and strength, the dozer also features advanced technology, such as 360 view cameras, that helps to improve operator comfort and efficiency.
With the Komatsu D475A at the forefront of the operation, it's no surprise that the project is moving ahead quickly and efficiently.

There’s a lot of debate over Cat and Komatsu, which is best. And as a patriotic American I love my Cats, but I salute the Japanese people and their engineers, they are a fine group of professionals! You don’t make a society that lasts thousands of years without more than a little wisdom! On top of that, they have withstood much hardship and diversity when you consider the thousands earthquakes and tsunamis that have affected the Japanese people, much respect to them 🫡🙏🙏💪👊 BUSHIDO 🇯🇵🇺🇸⚓️🇺🇸🇯🇵

Thank you for your comment! Actually, we used the Komatsu D475 to break it in as it was brand new, and due to high demand on our dozers, we couldn't spare any other size for the time-being. But we appreciate your concern for the equipment, and we do our best to maintain and care for all of our machines.

Pushing sand /sabkha long distances in the UAE and Saudi is the norm Ross , undercarriages last 2-4 times what they normally would in Europe or the USA (hard to believe I know)due to the dry sand and silt, exceptions are the east coast (rock) and dredging , I spent the best part of 30 years out there in Dubai, and we (Al Naboodah Cont) was the only company to (seriously) run scrapers Waco’s in the early days, and 631’s….. if you notice, they knock the windrows out instead of cutting deep slots for the long push, one of my pet hates 😂

This is probably 780 HP Volvo tractor in the states the DOT would make you use a jeep and booster on that lowboy the blade would go on another lowboy lots and lots of permits weight restrictions over there they get it done with half the equipment

Equal to, and every bit as good as the Cat D11. Large or small all the controls are the same per brand. I never owned any so I didn't care what I was given to operate. I am 60 now and retired from this industry....and don't miss it.

Why bring in a Komatsu with all of your other dozers being Cat's? Service wise, did that make sense or no D11 or D10 available?

Thanks for your question! Our rental fleet was fully booked at the time, and the D475 was the only dozer we had available for the job. Our D11 was being used on another site at the time. But we always strive to use the most appropriate equipment for each job, and we appreciate your feedback.

So, you are renting all your dozers? I saw your comments below about taking care of them/maintaining your equipment, but if it's a rental................ and why do you have your name on rental equipment? Do you just represent the company that is actually renting the equipment out but aren't doing the actual project?

So this is how it usually goes (in most construction projects): a developer hires a contracting company who, in turn, may hire a heavy equipment operator if they are short on machines. We, Al Marwan, are a heavy equipment rental and sale company. We rent out our equipment to contractors in the construction industry, which is the case in this video. It is pretty standard that we have our brand identity on our assets (everyone does this btw). As a rental company, we have to maintain our machinery (the equation here is that the rental company handles repair, not the hirer). In general terms, you'd have to keep your fleet in top condition to be able to serve your renting customers better. That's it I guess. Feel free to ask any further questions, happy to help! I’m an American, I sold Komatsu EQUIPMENT for 30 years, and I can tell you right now, Komatsu is the best, CAT is nothing but a copycat….it’s not a CAT…..it’s a CATERPILLAR….🐛…..an INSECT!!!!! Next subject!!! Komatsu D575 crushes a D11!!!! Komatsu pioneered the massive “X-LEG” Undercarriage in Track Excavators, while cat was in a Self-induced Coma, using the old “H frame” undercarriage and had track motors hanging out to get scrubbed and beat up by brush and rock! Komatsu was a better balanced machine, because the “X- LEG” spread the weight throughout the whole track frame instead of concentrating it in the middle! in addition, Komatsu pioneered variable piston pump hydraulic technology, and had castings in their booms and arm while cat was using plate steel, like a bunch of third graders! Lesson over! Make a better investment for your business and yourself and your family by going with Komatsu and wave goodbye to those bozos at Caterpillar!!!!

@@FU-wd9sl Loading and unloading is pretty standard across all machine types. As you can see, the dozer hasn't been damaged in any way while being transported and unloaded. At the end of the day, the dozer gets a lot of wear and tear in terms of its body and paint on each job. Which is why every rental machine gets a thorough upkeep whenever it gets back from a job. Doesn't get much better than this. These machines are very comfortable, an in sand, this would be such a cruzy number! I've only ever used these things in mining/harder material an unfortunately, even though I do prefer these over the D11's, I have to be honest, they aren't very pleasant to use in such conditions(every rock/bump literally feels like a land mine). But still, they're beautiful machines. I just wish that more companies would use them in Australia, but unfortunately, much the same as the Operator in this video, I've seen many people struggle to operate them competently as they seem to have issues leveling the machine out during operations due to the longer wheelbase/blade distance from the cab. Cat Dozers are much more forgiving in that respect.
