I accidentally clicked this while refreshing my homepage. And I gotta say It was a happy little accident.

I see Pachycephalosaurids brought up on occasion in the context of Kaimere, but I don't think theres a video about this group. I do hope that someone donates enough for a video covering this kind of dinosaur. Love this project btw, truly inspiring in its depth and detail.

Man, the artist really does anything to try to make the Komatu as the ultimate lifeform. They are smart pack-hunting fast omnivorous hunting creatures with an incredible bite force with venomous spurs, a giant blade-like slicing/bone crushing tooth and incredible tracking abilities with a cool name too. Give them a couple years more and they will learn how to fly aswell.

Looks like we need the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.

With venom spurs, fast movement, pack hunting, and teeth of iron, the Komatu is a scary but thrilling addition to the cast of mammals in Kaimere, especially that large and mysterious eastern continent.

A Literal Killer rabbit of Caerbannog

An actual predatorial hare sounds unironically like the stuff of nightmares.

The multi's distinct ankle spurs are telling (they have more in common with monotremes) and their live birth was likely not one to one with "true" modern placentals, and it's reflected in the Komatu still having convergent or shared traits with modern marsupials.

The Komatu is reputedly no regular rodent (or multituberculate), e's got a mean streak a mile wide. AND BIG SHARP POINTY TEETH!

Well, we truly finally have a Cheetah in Kaimere (in a way) ! The enthusiasts of this animal that were deceived to not have him for the Big Cats videos can be happy now !

I remember you mentioning "the Crown of Kairul" during your Tyrant Dynasty video and, since it was one of the only parts of the Eastern Continent that was outside the equatorial zones & thus _wasn't_ smothered by the volcanic ash clouds that ended said Dynasty, I love the idea of it being a mini Lost World of Cretaceous & Oligocene megafauna that went extinct elsewhere in Kaimere. On a semi-related note, do Brontotheres still exist on Kaimere? Either on the Crown or the further reaches of Kairul proper? I love those funky not-rhinos.

The first/thumbnail picture at the beginning of the video, with two Komatu hunting a (Neo)Pachycephalosaur, remind me a lot a picture from the book "The World of Kong : A Natural History of Skull Island". In the book, there a species of dog-like synapsid cynodont, called Dinocanisaurus, who have one of its illustrations showing it hunting in pack a large bird called Hylaeornis. Your illustration gived me personnaly many vibes of it. And I like a lot when thins, even unrellated and non-influenced by each others, remind me others Spec-Evo works ! :)

I'm getting serious holy Grail vibe from these animals

This is an absolutely amazing concept for how certain animals may have evolved differently, why I've seen no one else do this is beyond me. The Komatu is my new favourite animal from Kaimere so far!!!

I'm very excited for the Silent Ones video next week! (Right after my birthday too!) The Komatu is definitely a favorite of mine, as a similar carnivorous trickster "hare" was used in a one shot I ran. I really enjoyed the look into multituberculates, as I had always heard of them, but didn't know that much about them, believing them to be a poorly understood clade. I'm very glad to be proven wrong with so many recent studies!

An absolutely amazing animal! And honestly you covering multituberculates helped me learn quite a bit about them, which helps because I'm incorporating them in a world I'm making. On a different note, making the komatu and it's kin as figurines will be a fun challenge!

I like the fact the Komatu, despite being a very old creature you made a long time ago, is one of the rare ones who didn't received a lot, see any at all even here, revisions, redesigns of any sort and changes ! It have remained the same as like the first day you mentioned him in your videos, at the beggining of this RU-vid channel, at the "Rabbits of Kaimere" episode ! Lorewise, info on him were only very, very minimal (until this episode, you only mention his existence and never give more explanations on him) and design/physical appearance wise, there any real changes either ! Sure, in the "Rabbits of Kaimere" episode and in the "How To Make a Speculative Biology Project Part 1: The Prompt", his design was clear orangsih with tiny spots, and here the illustrations in this episode are brownish with more larger and rounded spots. and even between the three in this video there a coat color differences, with the one at left, being dark-brown, while the two at right being more reddish in coloration). But obviousely, there any inconsisencies and both four illustrations must be as valid altogethers considering that such a species with a so large distribution and social behavior must obviousely have several regions morphs or mutations, even coat patterns that arejust slightly differents from a specimen to another one. So, really, I like a lot the Komatu ! You really made it perfect when you first created him ! My praises on this specific critter !

For a long time... I have struggled with how I would have a cursorial canid-niche predatory multituberculate in my own world without it being basically a copy of this... but I think I've found the solution I was looking for... instead of predatory 'rabbits', my world has... 'killer kangaroos.' Regardless these are still some of my favorite creatures of Kaimere, and I love this episode!

This is so cool and unusual. I was just recently thinking that we are experiencing the 6th extinction and that hares may play the role of predators of the future. it's certainly not a hare, and it's even better. Only poison - it seems unnecessary to me. I wasn’t even too lazy to go into Google Translator (my English is bad). The author who came up with this is you’re cool. And I liked the sea beaver too. I even wanted to make a figurine of this “predatory hare”

I like it. It reminds me of a speculative evolution book that proposed predatory rats . I also like how pressure to complete with large predatory dinosaurs pushes pushes the development of social behaviors in mammals.

I just found out about your channel and the lore of Kaimere and the animals you came up with are sooo interesting. It reminds me of Peter Jackson's Skull Island but with a lot more animals

Watership Down version Kaimere (crossover. Only final battle part because the best scene in every adaptation of this fucking good book !) : The Bokudo have follow the Phanter Hare Hazel to the location where the final battle between his warren fight against the one of the Genral Komatu. The latter fighting alone his best warrior Bigwig, who fight as he can the mad general, accepting to give his life for the sake of their people if needed. Both sourounding by General Komatu's men watching their chief torturing the injured Panther Hare. Hazel arrive in front of everyone eyes. When seeing him, General Komatu firstly stop to fight and laught, thinking Hazel charging in a very last desperate attempt attack toward him. All of his en do the same. But the laught quickly stop when the Bokudo soon appeared. While in a quick yet providential last effort rush, Hazel manage to enter the single burro given to, followed as soon by Bigwig, making them safe, most of General Komatu's warriors are are gripped by a fear that freezes them at the sight of the monstous and bloodthity mindless beast. While most of them manage to recover and move their body again in time to flee, some others don't. The Bokodu have so soon killed few of them, brutaly in the bloodiest way possible, tearring apart all of the limbs of their body and with their interior organs falling into the ground. Then, his stare end up meeting the one of the General Komatu, who have watch the entire scene whithout moving, surprised. Both watch each others during few seconds, then, deciding to not flee to proved again the warrior he is and that his unstoppable... - General Komatu : "I fear no man", "I fear no dog" "I... fear... nothing !" Ahhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!! And charge mindlessely in a final blow to the Bokodu who react as same.... General Komatu's body was never found, but it is said that he's still alive, raoming these lands in search for revenge... But for now, the Warren of the Panther hares was saved, in security away from his madness. (okay, way more a re-interpretation from the 2018 version, but the overall idea still here).

Hey Keenan, late late comment for me, but was wanting to tell you how amazing this video was, and how much more I want to know about the Crocodile Jungle on the Permian islands. I’m watching my gf and kitten play and it inspired a new clade of lemur descended carnivorans, called the “Monkey-Cats” lol my kitten does this weird side walking think and it reminds me of how young baboons strafe sometimes. This was a nice video. Always liked the Komatu, as it is an interesting concept in and of itself. (A large predatory multituberculate.) Makes me excited for the inevitable episode on the Guchar. (Probably still my personal favorite even after all of these new multituberculates and a revision to one of the old ones.) However, unrelated to this episode, I wanted to clear up something. If you remember from the Manephaunt video, I said this as a suggestion: "given how you seemed to be struggling with adding Aurochs to the setting of Kaimere, why not do this: The faunal turnover of 100,000 years ago (primarily from leopards, but also caused by other animals such as the Common Otter) triggers a localized harvest from Southern Russia and extends to Japan, bringing animals which mainly integrated and hybridized with local fauna, but leaving some descendants such as Aurochs? (Just a suggestion, but hope it helps.)". However, I meant to say that it wasn't a suggestion, but rather, it was a proposition, a fix, or even an idea for either that I thought I would help out with. So just wanted to clear that up, and that is all I have to say. Can't wait for next week where we learn about the Silent Ones. Cheers, Keenan.

Now that I think about it, marsupials are almost definitely the more derived clade. Their egg-laying ancestors would have evolved to retain their eggs longer and longer inside a womb, until they simply had live birth and long gestation periods. A pouch doesn't seem like it could have evolved first, to me at least
