These guys get me every time. They seem to cover songs that I become obsessed with, this rarely happens. This is one of those songs that I love. I heard the lyrics more clearly through Luke Pritchard's accentuation too...love his voice. These guys also do a great rendition of Kids by MGMT, but you already knew that.
You're up and you'll get down You never running from this town Kinda think you said You'll never get anything better than this 'Cause you're going round in a circle And everyone knows you're trouble 'Cause you read it in a big book And now you're giving me the look look But just remember how we shook shook And all the things we took took This town's the oldest friend of mine Get up and we get down We're always running round this town And to think they said We'd never make anything better than this 'Cause we're always in small circles And everyone thinks we're trouble We didn't read it in the big book And now we're giving you the look look Just remember how we shook shook And all the things we took took This town's the oldest friend of mine

Pues no solo me gusta cartel de santa, me gusta The beatles, rolling stones, queen, guns an' roses, arctic monkeys, the strokes, foster the people,, hasta scrillex, puedes seguir buscando y solo encontraras buenas cosas :)
Metronomy and The Kooks are easily my two favourite bands! How the hell have I only found this song today? This is without a doubt my new favourite song.
Definitivamente en versión Live, suenan mejores que los originales, pero en versión estudio (videoclip) el original queda mejor. alguien mas coincide con esto ? , who listen this on 2018 ?
I said 'almost'. The second guitar hardly an imaginative addition, all he's doing is strumming the chords... And 80% is a massive exaggeration, it's the same melody apart from a few improvisations, which don't change much from the original melody and use basically the same intervals as he uses in nearly every Kooks song. Even the synth is remarkably similar. It sounds like they just googled the chords and threw it together in an afternoon, to be frank...
I never said he wasn't. And if I'm quite honest, I don't give a flying fuck who he went out with. The Kooks are a good band. No denying it. But Metronomy are geniuses and are definitely not terrible. And by the way, letting a company that can help millions of people use your song in an advert is not 'selling out'.
one day you will realise you were wrong with what you said. maybe years from now. luke kook is a post-modern genius, so what if he puts on an accent and he dated ferne cotton,at least luke kook never sold out his song to a barclays advert.
These guys didn't understand that this song is based on the bass. I am sorry but it sucks , so far away from the amazing original one. Actually the only thing they did well is the synt the rest is garbage
Its not better. There is no better ...metronomy have their own style ,so the kooks have. Its just two different songs now.You compare the incomparable..
Id argue this cover is more in depth than the original. I love the original for the distortion and all over the place vibes but this cover is just so vocally pleasing
This is a ROCKING cover. The KOOKS. Seriously cool. But that's just me. The whole point of a cover, to me, IS to put somewhat of a signature change (however small or unusual). I'd be happy to do this cover with my band. Hang on, come to think of it... Peace: Dubliner in NYC lol
Why does everyone pull apart how the words are crafted rather than the idea or concept? Hey assholes, this is RU-vid, not English class. Agree or disagree, but do not attack the words, grow a pair and argue the idea. While we are on the topic, this is better the original because it is more rustic.
Actually, I got that wrong. It isn't a second guitar, there's only one. So there is a rhythm guitar in the original. And the only lines that have been changed in the vocals are 'shook, shook' and 'this town is the oldest friend of mine' - hardly a massive change, especially considering that they themselves are very similar to the original. Watch Ben Howard's version of 'Call Me Maybe' or Everything Everything's 'What's My Name' - that's how to do an imaginative cover.
