I served at camp greaves for three tours and did many ambushes on the DMZ in the winter. When it was below -30 we took our cold weather bags out to crawl in for the ambush. It didn’t keep you real warm but it kept you from freezing to the ground in the snow. That place is COLD! Tyvm for all who served and made a sacrifice for this great nation.

Hi Darlene. I hope you had a nice Resurrection Sunday. I actually forgot this world today, went to eat at a restaurant with ZERO masks on anyone including staff. It was like old times and I felt so at ease and at home. It was a great experience and the first time I have eaten out like this for over a year. Thank you for watching my film about The Forgotten War. It is one of my favorites. So few people today even know about the war in Korea (1950-1953). I love the salutes too. Very powerful!!!
Thank you gentlemen for reminding us that war is not an episode of MASH...........you were not given the thanks and respect you deserve...........korean and vietnam vets have gotten the short end for a long time now..........they callled korea a police action to make it sound like somehow it was not a war.........this documentary reminds us about the horrors of war ...........and it is full of horrors...........thank you all for serving and telling your stories.........

This was really interesting. My dad was in Korea during the conflict in that area. I have watched a different documentary called Korea: The Imposed Divide. RT America sent a crew over to Korea. Anya Parampil did a good job putting the documentary together. It is a really good documentary that presents information that the MSM would never present. How many of these guys are still living? It would be interesting to hear their thoughts on what is going on now. Would they wear the mask? Would they social distance? Would they participate in any of the unconstitutional restrictions? My dad served in Korea. His primary job was to keep the planes flying. I was born in December, 1950. So, I don't remember much about him being gone. It wasn't really until I was in junior high that I remember asking him about the Korean Conflict. My dad had a long struggle with Cancer. When he had prostrate cancer, it was treated and he had no more problems until he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He had a good part, if not the whole thing taken out. He was left with one lung and seemed to be doing pretty good until he was diagnosed with tumors in his brain. The tumors were in operable back then. He went through chemo and radiation. Tumors would shrink and sometimes disappear; but, they came back and there would be more of them. My dad died about a month after his 71st birthday. That was in 1993. A couple months later, his dad, my grandpa died at the age of 91.

My father in-law was 19 and married just a few months when he got drafted and sent to Korea as a rifleman. Now he has a Purple Heart, bad arthritis in his hand that was shot and nightmares. Anyone foolish enough to think we should attack North Korea should do their homework. After 37 years with the DoD I am sure we could win over North Korea, but it will take a year (maybe more) and a LOT of casualties. Hope our "all volunteer" Army is up to the task, but better yet, let's not find out...
Another powerful message! God bless every man who served in this horrific war..the cold was equally the enemy! So very sad these men were not acknowledged! smh😢
Thank you. I thank you with the most beautiful words for your esteemed channel and the accurate, wonderful and useful information you provide. I hope you success . I have the utmost respect, appreciation and pride for your wonderful work
These men are all heroes, like my 90-year-old father a Korean Veteran who served from August of 1950 to 1951 and fought at Twin Tunnels and Chipyong-ni

Thank you for the gift of your service to our country. I'll be a proud American forever and I'll make sure to fight for our country to keep us free for generations to come.
so so very much respect and thankfulness to these men, my father and one of my stepfathers fought at this battle, my stepfather spoke to me about the battle in vivid memory, I was astounded to hear his descriptions were so true decades later, this was another time that we live in today, these men suffered so much in the service of the united states of america , I can only bow to their courage , such strong men, such strong men and women
this doc explains things to me ,my father was us army, my stepfather was 1ST marine division , this can help me understand the stories of my stepfather "Jack Bannister" he truly was a bad mo*herfu&%er"

Look for my next Korea story. Gaylas Pritchard. I interviewed him in Fargo, ND, June of 2021. He is still with us at 91. Would like to shake your hand one day. God bless you!!
We didn't have the draft in Canada, but my 21 yr.old uncle enlisted (the Vandoos ) and was killed by the Chinese in Jan. 53. Another uncle survived. Bless those who fought and are still fighting.
Really happy to see someone putting up videos about the Korean War it gets forgotten by many people but was a very nasty conflict a lot of people in my country Australia don't even know that we had troops fighting there alongside the US forces god bless these brave men 🙏🏻
My dad told me about a time that replacements came in and his bunch was moving back ! When the guy that he was with got hit in the leg ! He was helping this guy as they passed the foxhole that my dad had been in ! There was a replacement guy wounded in the foxhole ! My dad never forgot about that guy because he wasn't able to go back and help him ! My dad never forgave himself for not going back to help him !
My grandfather was in the 7th.Inf. Div. 17th.Regiment and was in the initial Inchon landing. He was wounded Nov. 17, 1950. He stated his unit was marching between two hills and his platoon had an interpreter with them. He said the interpreter saw two Koreans duck down in a hole and the interpreter called out to them and asked for them to come down to talk. He said the Koreans opened up on them instead. His lieutenant was killed in front of him and my grandfather was wounded that day. He passed away in 2009. God bless you all!
I am a Marine and Army OEF veteran myself with over 10 years of service. I am also a disabled veteran. I wished someone would tell the story of the veterans of the Korean War on the big screen someday. It's been awhile since they had their story told to the masses. There are a few flicks out there but they were made awhile back. The only thing a lot of people know about Korea is MASH.
4:18 This man sounds like my uncle. He fought in Vietnam, he said that he would never be cold or wet ever again. He also added that war makes you more and more like an animal.
My grandfather was a Marine and fought in Korea . I had a picture of him in 1953 while he was there . I can't find anything about him on the internet or anything like that, I would sure love to know what he did over there . I've never met him but I'm sure proud of the man and would love to know everything I can about him .
Please reach out and share the photo and some information about your Grandfather. I will see what I can come up with. God bless you!! EMAIL: lcappetto@icloud.com
Excellent documentary, those guys are heroes. Not sure why Korea was such a forgotten war, the stories there are even scarier than ww2. Almost every battle against the Japanese, the US had a huge supremacy in firepower. They stil had that in Korea but the conditions were worse, and the nation wasnt fighing an all-out war with all its might, like ww2 was. It was unfathomable for units to get cut off so badly in ww2, as happened multiple times in Korea. Bulge was a battle of encirclement but those troops were ready and not even close to breaking, very strong positions, with at least some supplies. I am honestly surprised at how savagely the Japanese and Russians in ww2 and Chinese/N.Koreans in Korea fought, even though their nations couldnt care less for the well being of troops. It's crazy, all those US vets here speak of disastrous conditions and cold despite having all the winter equipment, and then on the other side you got Chinese charging wildly into the American lines, getting mowed down in hundreds, thousands..... and they get sent there with no equipment, or some pathetic winter clothing.... how the hell are these troops even motivated to fight?
The Korean conflict of 1950 to 1953 is mostly forgotten because most contemporary Americans tend to focus too much on WW II. It, of course, didn’t help that Truman kept referring to the Korean conflict as a “police action”.
@@VoicesofHistory lol, well I watch while doing the dishes, laundry, cooking, etc! I’m obsessed with them! I live history and hearing it firsthand is the best.
So sad so many of these brave men were never really rewarded, recognised or respected after the war. Korea was a "forgotten war" but it was tremendously important. Thank you American vets from the UK! 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Thank you all who served and protected the world from the scourge of communism. You all deserve so much more respect and praise. You know who you are 🕊️ 🇺🇳 *_In order of sacrificed lifes_* 🇺🇳 Republic of Korea 🇰🇷 USA 🇺🇲 UK 🇬🇧 Turkey 🇹🇷 Canada 🇨🇦 Australia 🇦🇺 France 🇫🇷 Greece 🇬🇷 Colombia 🇨🇴 Thailand 🇹🇭 Netherlands 🇳🇱 Philippines 🇵🇭 Belgium 🇧🇪 New Zealand 🇳🇿 South Africa 🇿🇦 Luxembourg 🇱🇺
My father served in Korea in the US Army. He never spoke about it. After he passed we found some pictures of him when he was in korea. In one of them he is holding a browning 30 cal machinegun. I know he had been stationed at Fort Ord in CA. He was young, maybe 16-17? He never graduated HS. Back in those days you just needed permission from your parents to join I think. I know in the winter he was always cold which I think came from serving during the korean war. All of my uncles served in WWII. My father was the youngest of 9 siblings. My grandfather served in WWI. My brother and I served during the cold war. After watching this its difficult for me to understand why our country doesn't understand or even cares about those who served in the korean war, Vietnam War, cold war or any other war. Many do not even know just how close we came to a hot war with the soviet union during the cold war.
I'm sorry I can only describe my reaction as a mixture of respect, sadness, and anger. So many of them. So many that I grew up with, so many they grew up with. So many lost. And here we are nearly a century later fighting the same containment wars. I won't get into politics here. This was a beautiful film. I'm lucky to see these men. But I cannot shake the feeling that not only were they forgotten, they were discarded. We Don't care as a culture. And we should. They went through hell frozen over and worse. They deserve better.
Matt, happy you found this story. I have individual interviews also on my channel from those who fought in Korea. I hope you are subscribed. God bless you!! WEBSITE: larrycappetto.com

I wish so bad someone had recorded my Grandpa , a WW2 vet. It’s so important to preserve these stories. My Pop always said you can’t always trust the books or even sometimes unit histories. And there’s nothing more powerful then a personal testimony. Thankyou to the producers and all our veterans🍀

Do any of you guys remember a man named Charles Pendergrass? He's my father..he didn't tell us a lot about the war. But what little he said, sounds familiar to what youre saying .
The Forgotten War? Maybe in America but not in South Korea or by American veterans that served and fought to keep South Korea free. The South Koreans are very grateful as they know if they had lost they would have it just as bad as the people in the north do. And that's pretty damn bad.
I can't forget. Spent 1971 up on the DMZ, off and on. Back then we still got hostile fire pay. Nam was winding down and Korea was way under strength. The sad thing is 2nd ID is still there.

_When I see and hear about the winter cold I feel a sting of shame for us in Northern Europe; Norway, Sweden, and Finland._ _We know how to fight in arctic climate and should have been there_
@@VoicesofHistory Hi! One pretty badass operation is the Norwegian heavy water sabotage on a hydroelectric power plant during Nazi ockupation of Norway. The movie "The Heros from Telemark" is based on that. There's a Wikipedia about that in English that covers the operation. Lots of references, which is good because almost every source I have is in Swedish 🇸🇪😃👍 Battle of Narva (1700), is a testament of Swedish and Finnish troops resiliens in war during winter conditions. Theres also a Wikipedia page on that one with 47 references and Further reading suggestions. The wiki about Finlands war against the Soviet Union is extensively covered on wiki _"The Winter War[F 6] was a war between the Soviet Union and Finland. It began with a Soviet invasion of Finland on 30 November 1939, three months after the outbreak of World War II, and ended three and a half months later with the Moscow Peace Treaty on 13 March 1940."_ Insane number of notes, references and suggested reading. Sweden has not been at war sense 1809 so finding modern wars in Arctic conditions with Swedish troops might get hard. But during ww2 we were a "non fighting part" allierad with Finland against the Soviet Union. Our UN engagements has always been successful but people in the cooler hemispheres seems to get along better the those around the equator, I dunno.
.... The Forgotten War" is a misnomer .... It should have been titled the "Under Appreciated War" .... I would call the Filipinio/American War THE FORGOTTEN WAR.
It's this lame western take on other theaters of war that ain't Okinawa or France. For the longest of times people in the west (filmmakers, media people etc) refereed to the Russo-German war as the forgotten war even tho it was the biggest conflict lol
