In the 90s the Porta Pros and a Sony Discman were my absolute go to for hip hop and hard rock.

I can't believe the portapros came out in 1984! I had the ksc75 with a headband mod, I have also the kph30i which uses the same drivers. I also have portapro drivers that are modded to be housed in a 3D printed casing to fit on my VR headset. They are AMAZING for VR, spacious and free, I don't have the ksc75 anymore, but if I didn't have the portapro mod I would imagine those would work great for VR bring clip ons.

KSC75 - I'm getting back to them again and again, though having high-end open air pairs. It's giving you a freedom, as you don't feel like wearing anything. Give them time to break in, like a few months. Also, you may what use it with a little convolution filter adjustment.

Gonna buy the KPH30iW through your link. Great review! I’ve been using KSC75’s for gaming on Quest3 - killer sound and better situational awareness. Comfort actually improves with wear and a little tweaking the ear clip wire. 👍🏾

KSC75 drivers inside the Porta Pro headband slap 👍🎧

For the KSC-75, you can try to make them a bit more comfortable by just bending the metal clip so they don't pinch down on your ears. Also, a cheap mod for the KSC-75 and Porta Pro is to get a pair of Yaxi replacement foam ear pads for about $12. They feel much better than the stock pads. There is a pretty decent modding scene in general for all of these cheap Koss headphones.

I love my ksc75s in spite of their quirks so ordered some portapros in 2023 but sent them back as they sounded muffled snd thumpy. The bass is boosted in winter when I wear a thin tube hat over them...my reference is electrostatic speakers .. Not being cut off from the world is a key bonus.

I wear the KSC75S over my in-ear Starkey AI re-designed Custom Hearing Aids -- the Hearing Aids sense and autoswitch to telephone (speaker-by-ear) mode -- these are the ONLY headphones that don' t cause any whistling in the Hearing Aids; just drive super clear sound (I'm almost deaf on left side, too close to too many explosions). Replaced the pads with supersoft ones that don't push the switches on the Hearing Aids the way almost all do. The sound is amazing. Very impressed. I'm going to get the communications headset Koss makes that looks sorta like these with a headband to see how they work in meetings.

Just wanna say that the porta pros are amazingly durable. I have mine since 10 years i think and they still are in a really good shape. 100% recommand !

Got the KSC75 for gaming/work since the clamping force of the PC38x and the HD 560 S was giving me headaches during long sessions. The KSC75 is super comfy for long sessions and you can bend the wire to adjust the clamp. No ear pain for me after adjusting.

I'd recommend looking up mods for these. For example people recommend certain pads replacements for comfort. You can replace the KSC75 ear clips with the porta pro hearband or a cheap one from parts express. There's also the glue fix (to prevent cable wear inside the KSC75) and soldering in mmcx connectors (I'm considering adding 2 pin connectors) to make the cable replaceable.

I love that all of these headphones have the same mounting style headband. So if you want, you can easily replace headband from porta pro to ksc75. And there are aftermarket headbands too.

I have all 3 of these as well. Now try Yaxi pads on the Kph30i and tell us what you think! Dramatically improves comfort over the already pretty great comfort. I have sold headphones that cost up to 10 times as much because I enjoy them more. Im not interested in owning anything else less than $800, if there’s a pair that beats these in all areas.

I'vew had all 3, but the KSC75 is not for me. They are amazing for what they are, but I like more laid back sound signature. I like the Porta Pro's the most. All 3 are amazing!

0:54 I wear these for 3-12hrs a day and love them. They fit perfectly on my ear and I cannot feel them on me. I personally love them.

If you like porta pro’s form factor, and like sound of Kph30i, do this. you can easily detach units of porta pro and ksc75 and swap. the unit of 75 will sit more tight than it’s original earguide and reduce some high end. Porta pro’s high base will leak woth 75’s earguide. Once you swap porta pro and 75’s units, I think you would end up w three balanced Koss headphones with three different form factors.

Sergio, how do these compare with over the ear cans--Beyerdynamic dt770 pros, or ATH 50s? Would love to hear a somewhat in depth response to this inquiry. Are the koss better for music listening where these over the ear types are better for in studio mixing? Let me know.

Good review! Here's something to try. The 75 and the Pro use the same size driver enclosure and mount with the same plastic ball joint. Swap the 75 earpieces onto the Porta Pro. This puts the driver closer to the ear which fills in the low end and balances out the sibilance. What you end up with is best of both worlds and a brilliant sounding headphone which looks good :)

I've been rocking the KSC75's since 2011. Literally some of my favorite headphones. Sound ranking-wise, I'd go KSC-75, KPH, Porta Pro.

You've probably already heard this, but throwing a pair of Grado 1000 pads on the KPH30i's really makes them next level. This little $40 combo has replaced my expensive headphones.

The ksc75 are amazing for laying down compared to the others. Which is their purpose in my life. But the others fit better on the road 😂. The 75s for $20 reach a level of audio fidelity that is just insane. Their sound tuning is awesome your youtube as well, voices are forward.

I'm not going to comb through all the comments to see if I'm repeating someone, but bend the wires on the KSC75s so they DON'T pinch you ear. Bend them just enough where they're *just* snug and not clamping. You should be able hang them just where the top part of your ear connects to your head and the wire piece should barely hold them to your ear. I've been able to successfully wear them all day and forget they even exist. Edit: Also, great video!

The low treble/high mids dip in PortaPro and KPH is disappointing however.

There really needs to be more innovation in the on/ semi iem department. IEMs give me blocked ears but theres only like, 3 clip on designs. Does Apple have crazy copyrights on the airpod concept or something?

I bought Porta pro limited edition and regular porta pro . The sound on the limited edition is absolutely not the same and in a bad way and the wires are even more super thin and feels even cheaper than the regular porta pro . I Sent Everything KOSS Back Except For The KPH30i

I love the KSC75. Sadly with the death of headphone jack on the Pixel 6a I have to get bluetooth headphone. I've tried the KSC35 and while they have a good sound they are not comfortable. The ear clips are not as good as the 75 and the dongle is constantly getting caught and pulling the headphones. Do you have any suggestions? Nothing in ear at all. Can't stand in ear.

I only had the kph30i and all I can say is don't throw them in your bag,I did it and one of the slider thingies broke off,the plastic is made to last but not to bend too much,if you ignore that they're lovely

I also own all 3. Get the Porta Pros in my humble opinion. KSE 75’s are also great. I personally think they are plenty comfortable. KH 30i’s in my opinion suck. They are very comfortable, but I hate how they sound (I’m being dramatic they are fine, but I still don’t like them)

you can clip your 75s to the Porta Pro headband. Now you got that good sound with comfort on portability.

Kph30i clears are pretty fragile. Both sides of the headband broke for me on those. But they are so good that I taped them up! I prefer the Porta Pros, however.

Moreover, KOSS Porta Pro sound is better than some Beats by Dre for for $250 from what I remember when I was testing them 7 years ago.

i fuck with you man, love this review 🏅 from this i figure that the ksc75's are good for a classical lover or like an old music teacher, the porta pro's are ideal for 80s/older production sound (technically all i listen to!) so hipsters, and the kph30i is good for an all around balance, which kinda defeats the purpose of me having a novelty pair of headphones having no flavor. sorry; i'm really trying to convince my myself that i made the right choice on amazon earlier, going with the porta pro. so i'm glad you mentioned the time period tidbid, i can't wait to hear [insert 80s hit here] on these new cans! i guess it's like playing dreamcast on a crt; dreamy.

The clear KPH30i Sound Is Not As Good As Regular KPH30i Probably Because The Foam Behind The Drivers Is Removed On The Clear Version .

Give the Porta Pro's a coupel of hundred hours, then see how they sound. I wont buy any other budget headphone, but new ones take a while to bed in.

Get the Porta Pro and swap the drivers with the KSC75's and you'll be in heaven.

Come man,ksc75 are just fine,you can adjust this earclips and no problem,and even if that doesnt solve a problem you can always add headband for few bucks,kph30i with this ear cushion are pain in ass,but there is plenty earpads to replace or mode it...

so far I have three (well two ... one is a gift i know i am getting) Koss headphones ... one i have only had for 2 days now ... the KSC75's (though i admit the ear clips are better quality then i expected .. they were really off when i put my glasses or sunglasses on .. i felt like they would slid off. I was almost going to buy some cheap headphones ... i forgot the name but its the mod everyone seems to do ... They look like $1 store headphones but the clip is perfect for the KSC75's .. just put them in those and they look like cheaper quality KPH40's ... (The KPH40's are the gift i know i am getting) ...the other ones are the KPH30i's and while I always planned on doing the "oversized Grado pad" mod to them ... the clamp force is not too bad with the stock pads and the sound has blown me away ... looking forward to the KPH40's as people tend to say they are what makes the KPH30i's GREAT but ... BETTER. I did (for say $28... for now anyway.. back up to $40-ish) pass up a deal on the Porta Pros HOWEVER what you may want to try (yes i know this is an old video and you may have videos where you have tried this already. Some say that being alway from the ear sort of lowers the bass on a pair ... and being closer helps it .... SO ... what i have seen a few people say they like to do ... is they (third party cheap headband OR the stock earclips) take the portapro drivers and put them with what use to be with the KSC75's to say help lower the PP's bass (though i'd liike to hear how heavy the bass really is stock with the Porta Pros ) ...THEN THEY TAKE THE KSC75's and they pair that with the Porta Pro headband ... they CLAIM (no proof myself of course) it still sounds like the KSC75 high end .. but it has better comfort and bass response. While i love the KPH30i's ... they do need better pads and while it is more $$ ... the fact the Grado Pad mod basically just means making the Grado pad replacement's slot it has a little bigger for the 30i's wire ... and slide them on .. .NO taking off the default 30i pads needed. If you try it and dont like it .. just take the replacement pads you bought off and the 30i's are 100% like they were out of the box.

Bro there made for cd studio quality...mp3 is low quality...put them in discman...cd player...u may be very surprised....I got them 24 years with cd portable player and nothing comes close....it so big difference I realised after years...now only cd like in 90s...it's like different sport....try same song both quality mp3 and cd.....;) Take care Bro

I've basically worn either Koss's or Sennheiser PX100's my entire life. They are great and I continue to buy them. (PX100 was better then the Porta Pro BTW, RIP PX100's) That said, my $150 set of Sennheiser HD 58X is better then either. In nearly every way.
