the biggest mistake I’ve noticed people making ever since the mv came out is that they watch wave first instead of illusion 😂😂💀 edit: idk why this got so much attention lmao but lemme explain for people who were confused. Illusion comes first then at the end you hear a bit of crescent and the wave music video. You are supposed to listen to it in this order “Illusion > Crescent > Wave” or just “Illusion > Wave” since those are the only ones with MV’s. in conclusion listen to the whole album. but in order😂 Stan talent Stan ateez

wave is more palatable to the public's taste while illusion showcases ateez as the unique group they are. both songs have their perks so i think it was smart of kq to pit the two against each other because it's basically a win-win situation if you ask me!

I noticed that too, that Illusion MV is far better than the Wave MV, at least it is more produced, it has a lot of green screen and graphics and stuff. I also think they filmed Wave MV first 'cause their hair colour was much brighter and I think they filmed it when they were on tour although I don't know where exactly they filmed it. I mean Wave still looks really cool and the colours and the locations are cool, but Illusion MV has more stuff going on. I think Illusion MV furthers develop their narrative of being pirates and looking for the treasure whereas in Wave MV they're just being their funny and goofy selves which I liked! At the end Wave won for promotion btw

I feel like people didn’t ever really see Illusion’s potential from the get-go and in my opinion is also superior in both the track and the music video, as well as the choreo. It feels more in theme and aligns with ATEEZ’s concept but is also incredibly new and fresh with them. Out of their first two albums they have like 5 tropical Caribbean type pop songs so I just felt like I had heard something like Wave from ATEEZ before, but Wave did win so... my opinion doesn’t even matter. But I do like them both and the whole album is very good

I watched Illusion first and then Wave. I thought that both mvs were styled that way on purpose before this whole competition thing started 1. To show complete variety in both mvs. Illusion indoors on a set and Wave outdoors in a natural setting. 2. It felt like a story line. They were on a ship in Illusion and then they got shipwrecked and that was that clip at the end of Illusion eluding to Wave and then go watch Wave and it's like life after they got shipwrecked. 3. They've always released two mvs for two different songs on each EP so this made sense to me. I dunno. Maybe I'm looking too much into it but that's the way I saw it.

I'm gonna have this whole album on repeat all summer and probably the rest of the year lol

Yes yes yes I totally agree... Wave's chorus is super catchy and will attract a lot of people because it will be the one that they will promote. Illusion is my personal favorite along with Aurora, you will know what I mean when you hear the album.

WAVE won over ILLUSION to be the title track, but I do agree with you on the fact that ILLUSION MV was way produced than WAVE, and I think even tho they were doing the voting, I feel like they still thought ILLUSION was gonna win?! Because in my opinion ILLUSION sounds way more like a title track than WAVE, and ILLUSION sounds more (?) like ATEEZ' style of title track. I really love WAVE but I do think ILLUSION should have won the voting to be the title track!

When the teasers came out I preferred Wave, but now that we have the full songs I honestly can't choose anymore. However, based on the videos, I think Illusion fits their concept more and makes more sense to be the promotional song because it follows the storyline of their other videos. I voted for Wave so I'm partly to blame lmao but both songs are great so it's still a win

Both are title tracks just like their debut and second comeback, only that, just one song gets more promoted and use its cover, in this case the blue one of wave, to promote in all sites(for example the cover on Spotify). hell yeah!!! i just know ur gonna love the album, they stay consistent with their boisterous, uplifting sound that made us love them in the first place, but definitely with a more summery feel

Random fact about the island of Saipan where they filmed Wave at: The trees look rather bare because they're still recovering from Super Typhoon Yutu. 😬 Surprised they were still able to make the place look good though lol. Another random fact: It's been HOT AS HELL the past month or two so if they were around here that time, their behind-the-scenes video will definitely show them sweating like crazy and carrying little fans around lol.

thank you so much for reacting to this and for your nice words about the boys we appreciate it a lot!! just to explain a little the voting: the voting was just a few days before the comeback, both mvs would have been published anyways because both wave and illusion are the title tracks, the voting was to decide which one they were going to promote in tv shows and wave won! i love wave because it's such a fresh song and i feel like it has something different from the other tropical songs, it's really catchy. however i have to agree with you, i loved illusion from the very first instrumental teaser and i still do!!

I think ATEEZ really prepared two MVs for all of us and both are unique and fun on its own. There's like a contrast between the two like Wave is more public and fun summer vibe, Illusion more fits ATEEZ concept as pirates as finding treasure in the previous MVs. I'm glad they released both because both songs are great and they show different sides of ATEEZ that is different from their serious darker concept in Say My Name, etc.

The Wave MV was shot in the islands of Saipan and Tinian, islands of the CNMI! It’s a commonwealth of the US. It shows the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yutu (the trees and land are struggling to recover) but it’s still beautiful!

The way the voting worked was that after listening to instrumentals and watching teasers, ATINYS would choose which song they wanted to be the title track, then ATEEZ voted. They had both songs and MV's done so it was just a matter of which one they would promote and preform at music shows! Though i was also Team Illusion, i'm still rlly happy that Wave won despite the differences you meant ironed between the two music videos.

I feel like Wave is leaking that unique vibe ATEEZ give me (im talking about my opinion only) Like it's can be performed by anothers groups out there and you will not tell the difference. It's just summer song that hits you with catchy chorus but you can't remember anything beside that. I can't. I'm disappointed that Wave won, but i hope it will bring new fans to them, who knows. Illusion was always my favorite it stood out to me more, it's a tropical summer song but has that unique standout Ateez spice. Plus that piano throughout the song was so catchy and gave me Pentagon Shine vibes. ^_^ Ateez is by far my second favorite Kpop group now, these guys are so talented and have such a bright future and I can't wait to see what they do next.
