KARD said that the MV is largely related to their original concept, that’s why J.Seph and BM’s solo scenes are so dark. They said they each represented different times of the day so BM was dawn & J.Seph was night. It wasn’t a directing but a conceptual choice

This is KARD’s MOST successful comeback selling over 23,000 physical albums in two weeks since it’s release which is more sold than any other album they’ve released thus far. It also charted on Korean charts including trends for the first time since their debut (3rd place on the Show) It is their fastest viewed music video and has broken so many other personal records relating to iTunes Charts/international charts. This is a huge accomplishment for KARD. Congrats!

The way Jiwoo and Somin's voices compliment each other is crazy

DSP was bought by RBW, and I think RBW played it a bit safe with KARD's comeback. I also don't think that they, RBW and the members, expected this comeback to do as well as it did. However, I'm hoping that now that this has been KARD's most successful comeback yet, RBW will go bigger with KARD's next comeback.

Recently, RBW (mamammo company) bought DSP, and their producers and directors took part of this comeback. So, maybe there is why you feel is a "difference". Is the first time they use green screen . It has a lot of references that only the fans could catch. Their cards and simbols are everywhere ♠️♦️♥️♣️ Also, the album RE: is about coming back to their roots. B sides are amazing

please listen to the bside "break down". That was jiwoo's meant-to-be solo song that dsp canceled and they took it in as a group. She said they had to raise 1 octave to fit the rest of the group's vocal. Its's a rlly simple instrumental but it's rlly good

KARD deserves more recognition and wins, I would never understand why Korea didn’t support such an amazing project in kpop.

This song is not your typical Kpop song for sure. It's not the cute girly stile, nor is it the badass punchy stile. It's kinda unique to Kard in the kpop scene I feel like. First I thought it was good but not amazing. But now I love listening to the song while driving my car and chilling :)

I agree with you on the inconsistent mv, but the song is a bop, although I probably replayed it so much that it just grew on me a lot. It reminds me of hola hola a bit, but maybe a bit more mature.

This song is in my top 5 from 2022. I don't think will go down in ranks for me XD And all of them had so much fun dancing at the end of the MV, it was so sweet T^T Love them. Happy to have them back

I’m not a musician and nether a big fan of Kpop, all I know is that the first time I heard “ring the alarm” I fell immediately in love with the song and the group ( it was the first time listening to KARD). I just found this sound and melody different from other Kpop songs and so catchy at the same time and I was very surprised to see that a group with both males and females exist, the unique voices of the members and the harmony and perfect fusion that there is between them truly shocked me. So after discovering them, when “ring the alarm” was released, I became curios and decided to listen to more KARD songs and seriously the discography is amazing, one bop after the other. It’s very unusual for me to be so impressed by an artist in general, even for the western artists that I listen to, so this fact made me want to Stan and support KARD, they officially became my first kpop group that I Stan.

KARD is back. Ugh it’s so good to say that. And they always deserve more.

A true return to form. I will always be obsessed with their earlier stuff, no matter how much ppl always drag them for it. I’m so happy for KARD.

It took me a couple listens…now I loveeee this song. It lives rent free in my head.

I love this song; been playing non-stop since day 1. Its choreo is sexy yet very tongue-in-cheek with the boys playfully doing the feminine moves. They all seem very joyful. Reminds me of Don’t Recall and You & I. The MV could have been a bit more aesthetically cohesive and less busy, but the members all provide enough visuals to make up for it.

Not sure how much my bias influences it, but this is one of my favorite KARD's songs. I'm addicted to it! Their live performance makes it even better! I'm so happy that they are getting the recognition their deserve! Their album is also incredible, though I was hungry for a bigger setlist. In any case, always quality over quantity.

It’s simple, but it’s very catchy and such a damn grower. Still satisfying. The return to their earlier sounds is amazing.

It was amazing to see the Diamonds, Spades, Hearts, and Clubs pattern for each of the members.

The prechorus is addicting and LOVE the duo moments during the bridge!! They all shine so much in this comeback too! Like the different rap styles of BM and Jseph are always differentiated in their songs, but RTA was more apparent imo. And as always, Somin and Jiwoo’s vocal colors are always great and distinct from one another too. I gotta say, this comeback really made me pay attention to KARD again. I loved their predebut stuff, but their comeback releases after Hola were underwhelming for me. Gunshot was a step in the right direction and aligned more with my tastes. But Ring the Alarm is on REPEAT for me!! I appreciate how their identity as a group is quite solidified and they obviously are unique as a co-ed group. Their concept with cards is fun too. I know they’re quite known internationally, but they still are fairly unknown domestically. And the thing is, even though they are known internationally, I don’t think they have the strongest core fanbase. All this to say, I hope they stick around as a group for a few more years. Hope they can garner more attention domestically and build up a stronger core fanbase. I just wish the best for them cause they’re such a unique and fun group. Edit: forgot to really comment on the MV but yeah it didn’t impress me. Honestly wasn’t really memorable either tbh so that’s quite a drawback for this comeback. The MV is important to at least retain the attention of new viewers and be memorable so potential fans come back to rewatch. The MV did somewhat remind me of their Oh Nana MV which I suppose makes sense since apparently the entire comeback’s concept is their “Re:Debut”

for me this song gets better every time I listen to it, I definitely wasn't too impressed at first but it grew on me. I wish it had been more bombastic tho, and yeah I think the video looks strange because each member represents a different time of day, according to Jiwoo in an interview. BM is either dusk or dawn I cant remember, Jiwoo morning, Somin is afternoon, and J.Seph is night, hence how dark it is. but I agree with you that it could have been done better

I really like part of this comeback because it feels like a conscious effort by the company to remind existing fans and introduce new fans to their original sound and concept with the card titles.

So happy KARD is back, I really missed their music tbh. Definitely a summer bop that's for sure, like it's been on repeat since it dropped. Hopefully they can grab their first win as well.

this comeback didn't wow me as much as i hoped it would but i missed them a lot and i missed their energy in the industry, hopefully their new company works more on their sound and image

i knew you would react to this, albeit the wait i just knew it, yay. usually i would agree with a lot of things in your review...but i guess this time i have a different thought. i for once am so glad they did not do empty chorus cuz damn i hate that, i feel like it's just my love for them that made me tolerated when they did that like in Hola Hola. also, i'm soo elated that they're bringing back the Oh Nana vibe and sound...i feel like out of their releases, this song and mv are the closest to Oh Nana and that for me just brings to their 'going back to basic/redebut' concept for this comeback(though technically, their debut is Hola Hola). that in itself made this comeback grander than a grand explosive sound...because this is like that subtle shoutout to fans of their sound in the beginning...and honestly for me that gives more chills than if they had made some grand fancy comeback which they had been doing for awhile...it makes this feels more than just another comeback. honestly their later music had been quite exhausting for me but this...this is it, what i need to get refreshed again...it gives me feelings i used to feel with KARD music.....a long time ago. and i actually love the misleading intro sound that's more badass than the actual chill sound...it's the kind of surprise i welcome. badass is overdone now anyway. though i do agree that with some changes maybe towards the 2nd half, maybe final chorus(other than just the lyrics) would make for a more climactic ending...but then again...this is how KARD songs are, an outro would be a nice touch or new element to introduce though in their songs. and so i wouldn't say i'm disappointed or anything just like how i loved their songs in the first place(especially their earlier releases). in terms of the mv...yeah i do think some scenes are too dark/blurry/murky(not that i can talk much or anything bout the technicalities) even with the explanation of different times of the day, it could've been done better...Oh Nana mv was basically dark....but even that felt clearer or rather more cohesive since this mv has some random sets for the members that sometimes just feels off from each other or some member getting less impressive scenes than some. unrelated to this review, but one thing that irks me is how from many comments i've seen here and there is how many people are bringing rbw into discussion mostly for all the good things. KARD has always had this sound and they're built by dsp who took the risks other big n popular agencies wouldn't yet back then i rarely see any credit going to them and everything good was on the members. i get that dsp is a hated company and people seem to love rbw for their idols but give credit where its due or don't give it at all if it's just going to be given selectively, honestly this is not the first time that happened...even with Sechskies....their golden years was under dsp where they had the fame n classics but only after they went to yg people started giving credits to the agency like... that aside, back to the review, as a basic KARD fan, i super looooveeee this release. probably my top 2 with Oh Nana(not sure which i loved more but yeah it's that high for me). i highly recommend for you to listen to their Bsides too, i haven't loved as many Bsides from KARD releases like i do with this release. so glad you could react to this! i feel the same way, i really liked the song, it's not as impactful as i thought it was gonna be, but it has come on shuffle plenty of times on my spotify and i haven't skipped it once, it's a GOOD song, maybe not ground-breaking, but good nonetheless. About the mv i also feel like it's a bit weird, all the scenes are really cool but it feels more like a very long teaser and, for people like me who are fans but not precisely 'stans' of the group, all the little details and references went over my head and it just made me a little confused

Like PD said, I feel like Ring The Alarm is just missing one little bit that will turn the song from an 8/10 to a 10/10. I personally think the energy that builds at the end of the bridge needed to offer a little more payoff, maybe a dance break or just an instrumental section, before quietening down before the final chorus.

Their concept with JSeph wasn't my favourite, mostly because his scenes were very dark compared to the vivid ones the others had, but they evolved a lot even though they maintained their style of sound. It feels like they are ready to give a step further... I love the song, the contrast with the the girls singing and the guys rapping is one of the reasons I love listening to KARD! P.S.: just to brag a little, I'm attending their concert in Brazil this month 🥰

I cannot agree more with you! I like it, but it doesn’t feel like the big comeback after a while, it’s more like some regular comeback. They announced it as “a new start” they were saying words like: “Return to the basics, Reborn, Retrigger, Redebut”, so although it is nice to see them coming back to dance-hall with some tropical house vibe, I was expecting something totally new, which they haven’t done yet. I was probably expecting too much, maybe? I don’t know… I am glad they are back, but I was thinking they could have come with their 1st full-length album, but it’s only mini album, which is good and I bought it, because I want to support them and I hadn’t had any until now, because all of them were already sold out. With music and its video I don’t have anything to add to your words. I will only say I appreciate they brought their “card theme” back, as we can see in the music video.

I think this IS one of my favorite kard title tracks. I feel like it was mostly advertised as a return to their original sound, which is what we got, and I'm really happy with it. I do agree with you that it felt like there could have been just a little bit more to the song. Maybe more of an outro?? In terms of the video, I think someone else said, but they were all supposed to represent different times of day (morning, day, evening, night). I'm interested you liked bm's mountain climbing scene so much since me and another hidden were talking the other day about how much we didn't like it. We thought it stuck out from the rest of the video, and she pointed out it might be because kard almost always use at least partially real sets as opposed to the green screen in that scene. I'm really happy to see your review and glad your ac is fixed so you can enjoy metaphorical musical heat in a cool building!

i think if ring the alarm followed in the steps of dont recall or you in me it wouldve been the perfect song. i love it and think its good as it is, but it could be better like u said. super super happy with how well this comeback has done though, i really think kard will see even greater success in the future

Yeah i def agree the music video is NOT on the same level but ive never expected a high budget from KARD so its not like im disappointed. Live stages made me fall in absolute love with this song, they are always having so much fun it makes me feel so warm to see them together again

I thought the same thing that it feels like there is more than one visual direction in this MV. I personally adore the beginning solo shots with the warm tones, but the more cool-toned and monochromatic shots are such a stark, potentially jarring, contrast. I like the MV but I don't 100% LOVE it when viewed in one go.

The song is a banger for me. I love that they went back to the dance genre and it's just a really addictive track. I highly recommend you listen to the bsides on the album!! You won't be disappointed.

KARD is a talented group, I totally agree that they deserve more than this and better quality in their videos, they are amazing and deserve more recognition. I did think that the lighting tonality was oddly inconsistent when I was watching it - without having the kind of technical knowledge or language to put behind it, I was just confused why there was the same setting with such vastly different approaches in the way it looked, and then having that one beautiful set that I loved but also seems inconsistent - it was nice to hear that discussed in a knowledgeable way. Overall I really love the song, personally, but a postchorus would have been fun, sure. haha :D I do think the music video could have been more refined in cohesion, but I actually really liked the choreo and their performance qualities throughout of course were stunning.

In an interview they said that: Somin represents the morning, Jiwoo the day, Jseph the night and BM the dawn. I don't know if that has to do with the lighting changes in the video. Excuse me but I don't speak English well.

I loved this song from the getgo. I feel like the MV tried to do a lot. Maybe too much. As an OG! fan, I could see all the references they tried to do. Its a real RETURN to basics for KARD.

This song grow so much to me through the days, when I listened in the first time I thought it was a ok song, but now I'm completely addicted. I didn't like the mv, I think it would be better if it was more colorful, but seeing the comments I kind understand better the concept now.

I kind of saw the video as a life progression styled video. Touching on where each of them were in life prior to joining DSP and becoming KARD, then the video ending with extensions of their "Dumb Litty" character in a way? Except for J Seph's which is reversed.

All BMs scenes look like an aftershave commercial.

3 of them Bm , Somin and jseph are different time period of day and jiwoo is the one who controlling them like she controls cards in music video.

I was confused at first I thought there prechorus was the chorus.. Then I was sad after the hype Bridge that it only built to an antidrop. Would have liked a crazy last chorus with lots of adlibs and hype

I was so excited for the comeback bc I loved Gunshot so much in 2020, but this feels a bit off for me and I like the song but it was so safe and summery/tropical vibe again, the production and instrumental didn't go hard enough for me, I feel that the vocals are so good but the instrumental is a bit boring and while I don't want it to be too experimental I'd like a bit more punch. The MV itself is beautiful and them getting a bigger budget I'm happy about and the scenes look really cool and the CGI was cool too. Just expected more for a comeback after so long and I hope that with RBW backing them now we might get another comeback soon with a better production.

i don't have much to say about the MV but i totally agree that the song itself was missing something. i really like it, it's so catchy and fun. but it didn't have the oomph that a lot of kard songs had. the bridge was really amazing though, seph and somin sound so good together! and i really appreciate that they gave j.seph a proper long verse here, it was probably my favourite part of the song.

KARD is so weird for me because I really like their voices individually but even more in combination, and they have several songs I like but don't love. Like happy when they come on but don't go looking for them. Regardless... happy they're back, enjoying their performances, and looking forward to more!
