The girl in the blue outfit is Sooin, the one who did try and match my energy and the girl with the high ponytail are both Gawon. In the opening frame starting from the left with the white top - Gawon (Korean-American - born in the USA - 19), Anna (Japanese - 18), Ella (Korean-American - born in Los Angeles - 15), Narin (Korean - 17) and Sooin (Korean - 19). Sooin and Gawon are 15 days apart making Sooin the older of the two. Gawon is a former model and trained at YG at some point, Anna is a model and actress and has been in some J-dramas and Ella was a child model and has done some acting in America. Ella trained at YG and is friends with the girls in Blackpink. She is particularly close to Jennie and people say she looks like her. The group's name, Meovv, is an acronym for My Eyes Open Wide. They also have teasers for each member. Sooin's teaser in particular made her my instant bias.

MEOVV is not only signed to TBL, they’re also signed to Capitol Records in the US. Not only that the members are multilingual they can speak Korean, Japanese, Chinese, English, and Spanish. 2 Korean American members, 2 Korean members, and 1 Japanese member. Which is why they have that global/western appeal and yes I agree with you this is just the introduction/appetizer to MEOVV. I feel they will release more music and mini album either this year or next year. Also, just to let you know… TEDDY did not compose/produce this song. He did contribute to some of the lyrics, but he let other TBL producers like VINCE and others to take lead in this song. I think TEDDY was more focused on being the creative director aka branding for MEOVV, but I’m sure he still has his input in their musical style/genre. He’s definitely putting them in that high luxury brand/fashion image and it really does suit them tbh. Gawon and Ella are no strangers to YG and were YG trainees before going to TBL. they possibly were considered to join the BABYMONSTER project. But maybe YGE or maybe TBL/TEDDY felt they suit TBL girl group better. It also makes sense since Yang Hyunsuk mentioned the possibilities of Rora joining them at some point cuz her vocals would fit in really well with MEOVV. But he decided to keep Rora in BABYMONSTER instead and that worked out. Gawon, Ella, and Anna all were models. Anna and Ella were actresses in their respective place of birth (Japan/US). So they know how to really perform or project well in front of the camera. You should watch their dance practices and live stages.. they are so cool, hip, and have insane stage presence. I am looking forward to what they will release and see more of them tbh. They’re not even doing variety show appearances yet, which is weird since this is their “debut”. That’s why it makes total sense that this is more like a pre-debut single/introduction and then they will drop more songs showing their different style/genre soon.

I knew this song was going to grow on people. Initially one may think it's cringe but it definitely caught the attention of viewers and listeners which was the intent for a debut track I feel. I cannot wait to see what else comes from this group.

Gawon is from New Jersey. Ella is from LA. Anna is from Japan and Narin and Sooin are from Korea. They have a good mix of cultures. All very talented and speak multiple languages. Ella, Gawon and Anna are models. Ella being quite famous as a model and even an actress. She started at two and made her runway debut at nine.

My only problem with the song is it being 100% autotune. There isn't a single clean vocal in the song. I really want to hear what their actual singing voices sound like. All the stages have to be full lip sync or it will sound like they are doing a cover of their own song. I hope we get to hear their natural voices next comeback

Gawon's "match my energy" line really reminded me of Miley Cyrus' vocals. Gawon is definitely my favorite performer in the group. She has so much charisma and her vocals are crazy. I will say the video was incredibly underwhelming. I am definitely looking forward to what they release in the future though!

There's also the factor of what other groups or soloists are having comebacks at the same time as their debut. Even if they came out the gate bringing it another more popular artist or group could push them back in the shadows. I agree that they'll probably have something else coming out soon. I saw this just as a test of the water.

Song isn't produced by Teddy tho. And the song grew on me. At first I was like this sounds more like an intro for them rather than debut. But I think the song requires a bit more listens to actually start to kick in and then you're like "okay, I see what this is". Now it's in my playlist.

Personally im tired of overproduced Kpop music. Much prefer a sinplistic production like this. There's just enough to keep the song going and enough of a switch to keep it interesting. But it isn't sonically exhausting. I think this song was a solid display of the members charms.

It's grown on me with all the shorts they are releasing, but 20 seconds of yah yah yah to start a sub-3 minute song? Ugh. But still, very talented members, they'll go far.

They might have used a mist filter or something to make the highlights bloom and have smoother transitions. It doesn't have the typical punchiness you see in kpop MV's. That could be part of the filmic look you were describing.

I agree. Teddy loves the buildup, in his songs and promo. Very likely he is opening with a relatively simple intro to the group to create a sense of anticipation and growth.
