Kpopers think that a high budget mv needs to have explosions, thousands of scenarios inside a box, CGI everywhere and ultra-technological cameras.. NewJeans came to show it's possible to make a high budget mv without looking overproduced. Everything about NewJeans is amazing!

I love how NewJeans really shows how current teenagers act, from the makeup to the fashion to how they interact with each other and the world around them. This could be why you can pick up on their 'natural' vibe and how their mvs feel different from other mvs. They really capitalise on the theme of true youth and I love it.

NewJeans giving me the familiarity of 90s-2000s western pop yet a refreshing vibe in kpop sound.. as a 90s born kid I felt like this is a decent throwback to that era..

I am obsessed with this mini album. The way that the MV's just came out out of nowhere and we found the TikTok videos got to learn every member's name. Then finally their actual debut song, which is Cookie, definitely created a storm that I don't think the company was really prepared for; or really thought through what the lyrics and the what the connotation would mean for Western, American or English audience. But I do enjoy the style and the way they sound. For me it reminds me of early to mid 2000's music and I'm really vibing with it. All 4 songs sound great and I love that we got Hurt because it gives it more of an acoustic/ballad feel. Also, hope your guys are all feeling better. I can finally hear the stuffy nose and stuffs. I know your doing a bunch of bonus epsidoes and I hope you're resting as well.

ADOR stands for All Doors One Room. The CEO of this label is Min Hee Jin, who used to work under SMEnt as a creative director for decades and wanted to quit completely with this industry because of feeling over-worked/done. In 2019 HYBE Corpo. asked her to join their HYBE Labels and offered her to have apparently 100% creative freedom with her up coming girl group on which she started to work on since then. The creative freedom I am speaking of is not only from the music/concept point of view, but the whole idea around NewJeans and their promotion. There were no teasers etc. She just said there were no needs for them… There was only a photo of keys with a key chain with the word ADOR on it and some news like: “Something is coming” and then Attention was released. But that’s not the end! As you asked about Hype Boy. At the end of Attention there were end cards videos to watch, but those videos were not public, so you could get to see them only through Attention and since you can add only 4 of these videos, 2 members had 1 video together, but the main point was to use this interaction videos as the promotion and the way of getting to know the members and their names etc. As you mentioned something like “I have never heard before”… well, at first I didn’t get it, but later on I found it out! Their style and sound it’s really like the first generation Kpop girl groups. Even Bada of S.E.S talked about them that they remind her of her debut times. That’s why they have that late 90’s look and vibe. And in general they are really popular in Korea because of the 1st generation style. I would say not only the whole idea about everything about this group is really well done, but the goal for which Min Hee Jin was aiming for! There are so many girl crush girl groups these days and in general Kpop has got so global and big that there are more and more groups popular in the rest of the world/US but not in Korea and that’s basically a big case of many girl crush girl groups. So instead of trying to go global again with another group Min Hee Jin tried to fill in the hole in the market by focusing on the Korean listeners and also older people, who used to listen to Kpop before but not now anymore, which is such a clever move in my opinion!

I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR A WHOLE MONTH! it's funny because it feels like they came out of nowhere, no teasers, no audio snippets, no mood sampler whatsoever. my credits to their producers because they created such a unique & refreshing concept especially in kpop. I can't find any sample from those 4 songs in my data, which is indicates that the songs are all original. it highlights the vocals of the members so the audiences can get used to who's singing & basically introduce the members automatically. from what I know Hanni and Danielle also contributed as the lyricist. their producers are known from making this kinda feel good music, they are Ylva Dimberg who also working with Loona, 250 who also working with Boa and BTS. also Min HeeJin who were working for SM with F(x) also. all of their songs are super chill. my favorite of them all is Hurt btw.

Hi! I AM a hair and makeup artist and i was genuinely so impressed by the way they've conceptualised the looks for this MV and New Jeans in general. Like they all really look their age, with minimal makeup, rather than "natural" makeup. It's make up designed for movie/tv lighting, ie, more natural and realistic rather than what you normally see idols in, which is for brightly lit MV light design. Like idk how to explain it too well, but there's a difference in the way i do makeup for a movie and how i do it for a MV.

truly a no skip ep. i've been listening to all their songs since they were released. i have no definite fave song as all songs are just...chef's kiss. i know they just debuted like a month ago but i am sooo looking forward to their comeback! i need to hear more music from them, and hopefully, they won't disappoint.

Attention, Hype Boy, and Cookie are all title tracks but Attention got the most attention since it was the first mv to be released. Attention got hundred plus real-time all kills if I'm not mistaken and almost got a PAK.

new jeans songs sound more western and not the usual kpop sound structure, and it's probably why it got a lot of attention. No pun intended. ADOR did a good job in choosing the songs to begin with their debut and concept really fits in to their vibe as teenagers.

I was not prepared for these girls to come out and just shake what I call and what I like as music. They instantly gave me something that I didn’t think I needed and I appreciate it

New Jeans is the FIRST GG that I am really loving as I am always a more BG stan. The whole production behind this is just INSANE, they remind me so much of the moment when I first saw TXT, everyone can be the center of the group, all very good looking and has their own charm, all really talented and all rounded, and the member sounds and look PERFECT as a group. Not to mention the styling and the details, their styling and art direction team are nailing all the things as I am a very particular person, and they are the ONLY group right now that completely got the Y2K style 100% correct. I am looking forward to their first comeback already! They are going to be the leader of the next-gen I can totally see that.

They don't have a single bad song. I can see myself listening to these for ages! There's a really chill r&b aspect to their songs that I just love. Very talented singers and dancers as well. I'm very impressed so far and they are my fav 4th gen group for sure.

I think Ive realized now what truly made them different. In my mother's words as she reacted to Ditto mv, it seems like they arent try-hards or show-offs. Theyre just so chill and happy and having fun, and really just communicates this happiness to the viewers. It makes it all feel so genuine and its lovely. ❤️

Normally you only get 1 MAYBE 2 massive groups to debut in the same period. But now we have 3 girl groups that are set to dominate the 4th gen GG field. IVE, LE SSERAFIM and NewJeans... All 3 amazing groups. We are in for an exciting girl group generation already

Nostalgia OVERLOAD!!!! The girls are super young but as someone in her late 20s/early 30s age group....they give me an old school like 90s early 2000s vibe. Very Destiny Child, TLC, very R&B...every single song these girls have showcased is nostalgic, very good timeless music, anyone and everyone can listen to it with ease. It fits all age groups nicely. I love the simplicity and the 90s fashion and music video styles because their talent showcases more and the songs feel more meaningful. This shows that with good music not much needs to be done. Not to down those groups with these super out of this world concepts and whatnot...those are always incredible and fun but this......this is a WHOLE breath of fresh air and so simple but super well done. Definitely a favorite group to watch and see how they grow. Their marketing strategy was also super genius. So kudos to everyone involved! HYPE BOY is definitely a must.

Finally, I have a favorite Kpop girl group. This music, the way they make it smooth and simple is really good and fresh.

NewJeans has so much potential to be one of the most successful groups of their generation. Such a talented group of idols. However, I think it's important to recognize that 4/5 of the members are minors, with their maknae being 14. There has been some discourse among audiences about their oversexualization by their company from their wardrobe choices and most obviously the sexual connotations of their song "Cookie." While not overt, it's noticeable. With companies continuing to debut younger and younger female idols into the industry, it's important to recognize the dangers they face being in the public eye while being pushed under a certain image. Anyway, their careers as idols have just begun and it looks like the attention toward NewJeans has been mainly positive. Can't wait to see what they come out with next!

"Hurt" kinda reminds me of something that Clairo might have sung during her "Pretty Girl"/Soundcloud days. I like "Hype Boy" the best out of the four songs but "Hurt" is very good as a b-side song.

The mv was recorded in Barcelona and Girona, in Spain. I live there so I recognized the places pretty easily, I think that helped give the mv such an elevated look. Amazing idea by their creative director

New Jeans proves that you don't have to be flashy with complicated concepts, messy music and more to get attention (pun not intended). The music is simple, easy to listen to, their makeup is appropriate for their ages, the music video is visually pleasing to the eyes, a fresh concept, yet all their songs are loved.

NewJeans is breath of fresh air in a music industry full of noise, cutesy songs, and full of “popularity” competition. NWJNS is a full package. Visually, dance, vocals. They’re much better vocalists than a popular group that until now can’t sing on live for their encores. 😌

I didn't pay attention to them at first, I checked the views of a video of them and I wasn't that much interested in checking. Then I saw the Attention's MV in my feed again and saw the label and finally gave a shot. Now I'm obsessed, they bring such a different vibe with their "simple" image and 90s sound. Also the choreography with the hair was such a surprise.

This group stands out because of their music itself is something we will not hear with the current releases of the same generation. I just hope they can maintain this level of unique theme and vibe.

Min Heejin is the ceo and the creator of this group and concept she’s been a part of SM like all of the SM groups branding. I think she really showed how smart she is with this group just such a shame she seems problematic with her obsession with Lolita style underaged girls and all the girls in new jeans are underaged unfortunately. But I hope things will continue to go well. Their concept is such a breath of fresh air and I think this 90’s concept fits them and their ages as well so the natural hair and makeup fits so well. I wonder where they will go from here

They’re just great. Their entire EP is even better and it has been on repeat since it was on Spotify. I only listen to a few 4th Gen songs because it started to go on the same way. I don’t know how to say it but it somehow came to a point where their debuts were very predictable. NewJeans doing this is so refreshing and maybe it’s why I immediately liked them. My favorite is Hype Boy, like that song, i don’t know when i’ll get tired of listening to it. Cookie though, I loved it but yeah, the lyrics throws me off, but the production of that song is just my vibe. I hope nothing but the best for these young girls! 💓

I think what I like the most is their spacing and formations and they way they place them in the camera. It's kind of avant-garde for kpop rn and reminds me a lot of how contemporary pieces are spaced, where it's not just stationary and commercial but intentional with positive and negative space -as well as timing with the spacing and how it's edited on film. It also reminds me of collaborative projects between my old high school's dance program and film program, just of better qulaity and artistic intent, yet still raw in approach and concept. There are typical kpop shots but it's meshed in with the majority and the angles during those scenes wind and pan around like if they're in a snow globe.
