Lily was the one singing "let's roll the dice yeah!" during the chorus but they never zoomed on her, and you can see Lily singing it when she's BEHIND the center 😂

It makes me upset how they dont try to show off all the girls in the mvs as much as they can, they are all so talented it feels unfair :(

They were really showing off kyujin this time it seems. She starts the song, ends the song, starts both prechoruses, and starts the change-up with a pretty lengthy rap verse. She’s also center during the dance break and those edits even replace the other members with more kyujins lol (edit is sick tho ngl). No hate towards her at all, girl is crazy talented, but I feel like for me every memorable thing from this video involved kyujin. Would have liked to see a bit more even distribution of at least screen time.

I think it would have been more suitable if they added that part of lily and heawon at the end of the song. It really has outro vibes. Someone made a rearranged version of dice and it sounds way better. I'm rooting for nmixx, but i think the producers should mix those parts better

I think Lily is getting a Tzuyu situation right now because Lily is the most known in the group fortunately she is the main vocal that they cannot really reduce as much as they like. And kyujin is what they actually want to push just like nayeon.

I would definitely agree, aside from rough transitions in some parts of the song, I think what makes people more confused about nmixx songs on its first release is the mv. Listening to dice alone is pretty sick. I absolutely love the latin flavor in the song. However, I too, cringed out while watching the mv the first time- i think it just doesn't goes well with the song's intensity. Some shots just feel underwhelming and does not give some part of the song justice. Honestly, the mv is not bad-I actually love the sets and color schemes. However, I think it could've been better if they pushed more a bit and went more festive (considering the song had a very festive Latin vibe) especially in the last chorus-although I wish the last chorus could've been extended, but I think with a more explosive or festive shots on the last chorus the song could've been ended more impactful.

i think best example for solo shot in the chorus is Itzy Not Shy they way they zoom it at Ryujin and Chaeryeong

I agree with the center distribution in this video. Kyujin (red hair) gets almost TWICE the center time than the next member. This video is 'Kyujin and Co. DICE' Completely unfair to the other members.

This group has so much confidence and presence its really eye catching and so no matter if you think NMIXX songs are messily structured or amazing, they still bring a focus on them which is a lot better than being put in to the nugu section.

I personally think they should’ve utilize the set from the opening a lot more often cuz it looked amazing!

I love what PD said at 9:54. "Not everyone should have to (like) watch teasers and trailers all the time. A music video should be able to stand on its own regardless." This, imo, shows the strength of a group/artist and its team of producers, music and MV directors in telling the intended story. This isn't to say that an MV shouldn't have its complexities, mystery and puzzles, but it should be able to somehow send a message or tell a story on its own without having to heavily or solely rely on other releases.

I KNEW I WASN'T CRAZY! Lily, who is the main vocalist that can sing insanely well, and is Australian is my bias, but regardless, the first time I watched the video I was so confused for why we hadn't seen a close up of her till much later in the song. Thank you so much PD for pointing that out. I'm enjoying the song the more I listen to it, but I still honestly get whiplash from all of the beat changes and big genre changes. I thought that Blackpink sometimes have insane instrumental changes and get pretty experimental with their songs, but NMIXX was like, "hold my beer" lmao

I was waitinggg for your review, cause I feel the exact same way. There were a few shots that I thought were very weird, especially that Jinni shot (the scene you raged over lol). I was also confused as to why it held on her for so long, it was awkward. The theme of MV is also a little weird, I got the theme but I also didn't at the same time. Other than that, I loved the song from first listen. Big fan of their voices and the way they all say their lines. Hoping everything gets better with the next comeback!!

I had similar thoughts on how they treated Lily for the first two minutes of the song, especially considering that the song is under three minutes. She's the main vocalist and felt like this was just another Kyujin feat. Nmixx music video and song like O.O was.

The first thing i noticed when I saw the mv was that LIly didn't get enough screen time, i don't know all the members but i like Lily and it did bother me the same shot you talked about lol

I feel this 100% with both O.O and Dice! Listening to their two single albums without the music video is so much more sonically appealing. I think maybe the MVs not only lack direction, but I feel like the songs and MVs are “fighting” with each other? Their songs are already quite experimental, and to have a MV so confusing/out there doesn’t work in their musics favor. But I literally listen to AD MARE and ENTWURF on repeat without even realizing, just when I’m not watching the MVs 😂

they went with jazz 20s zoetrope vibe to alice in wonderland board game to... ocean/nautical/jungle back to alice in wonderland but the trippy parts, but their outifts were jazzy to... highlighter to... basically the white outfits from their debut... and they really wanted to focus on kyujin on this comeback and definitely pushed lily's closeups til later for that reason which was a really odd choice because the intentions of the company were felt in the video rather than the team that worked on it themself

I seriously need an NMIXX full or Mini album now, one good B-side just isn’t enough with the potential of this group.

The line distribution and the screen time distribution was horrendous this time :/// so disappointing. Tbh PD’s thoughts really summarized what I felt. The first 3 listens were an “idk” type of feeling but the more I listened the more I like it, it took a lot less time for me to get used to it compared to O.O (which I enjoy nowadays) I will always applaud their choreos, they are crazy talented

It’s so sad to see this group getting SO MUCH hate just because they aren’t used to nmixx’s concept. Also to see nmixx not being treated how they deserve to be treated really gets me angry. Nmixx is the first group where i feel such a strong connection between the girls, and they have such real personalities.

I saw someone who reorganized the song and they made it so good! Basically they removed the lily high not part after the rap in the second verse and replaces it with another chorus. It basically made all transitions smooth. I feel like the song needs another chorus and lily’s part, which was then placed at the end was absolutely perfect for an outro.

Gotta say I love how passionate you got about the video and how in depth you dissected the parts that made you disappointed, it shows you truly care about their success and it helped me learn a lot about the right video editing techniques!! 😊

I liked this better than O.O but I agree about the transitions. There's a rearranged version that switches Lily's and Haewon's parts to an outro and adds an extra chorus, and I feel like that makes the song feel more complete and parallel in terms of verses to chorus to changed verse.

For both O.O and Dice, the videos would throw off my taste for the actual song. Then, I’d listen to the song on its own and would find a better taste for it. A good MV/era to compare this to is ITZY's Icy. I remember thinking that song was strange as was the MV, but the one thing the entire era emphasized was Yuna being the center... and she ATE that entire era including the neck break dance. This era for NMIXX is to showcase Kyujin and Sullyoon in the same way, but using NMIXX's "mix" concept the two of them showcase completely opposite talents. Sullyoon is being showcased as a main vocal this time and showing the "elegant/jazzy" sections of the song, while Kyujin's hip hop-style energy/dancing carries the vibe of the other sections. I didn't understand the MV or why certain members felt more in the background this time, but I actually think JYP knows what they're doing this time!

"This isn't up to JYP standard..." Damn, MV reaction couldn't be more on point than this. My only complaint is that how small is solo screen time for each member except for Kyu and Jinni (No hate for them tho, I purely think this MV edit is not appreciated)

o.o was never for my taste but it ended up growing on me, as for dice idk it was such a fun listen !! some transitions are rough but i think it adds to nmixx's personalities and the sound they're going for. they're a really fun group and honestly im glad jyp is pulling something original after itzy and skz lol

JYP want them to represent 7 visual、dance and vocal all rounder group, so I feel everything would be affected by that. The production team would be pressured to push someone on each category in dividing the song parts/rap, and it’s very messy because everyone would be shown trying to do everything; but you see them each doing nothing that’s long enough to have a lasting impression. The truth is, nobody is “best” at everything. After watching/listening to them I only remember Lily’s vocal(but she was already made known on the internet). Also, I remembered seeing lots of CGs, but I did not get what’s special about the message of the song.

Honestly, I think JYPE were smart with how they are marketing NMIXX. I wasn't sure of them at first (more, I wasn't sure of the musical direction because it's...a lot, that goes on for them), but now I feel like they're going about it the right way. While other groups are having to stick with a singular concept or genre that's hard to branch out from, NMIXX have a lot more creative freedom with their sound. Like, I don't know what to expect from them, so I am open to checking out their next comebacks to see what they do. I know the members are ridiculously talented, so what will JYP do with that talent? It's one of those things where the members are selling the song versus the song selling the members. I love their vocals, their choreo looks fun (though I won't attempt it because my back doesn't need the stress lol), and the members seem like sweet, talented young ladies. So, I want to see how they develop and change, and I'm open to hearing more from them. I want to see where they go because they don't have many limits. Edit: Also, I totally get the issues you have with the MV. I was surprised at how much center time Kyujin got (like, I really only remember her scenes because I feel like I saw her every few seconds), and I wanted to see more of everyone else. I had to look for who was singing at Lily's (the one you said whose voice was great, with the blonde hair with black tips) part because of the way they filmed that. So, your grievances are heard and shared.

It's also about how big they will be in the future, especially with other recent 4th gen gg already got attention from general public. It's fine to have unique, nieche or their own sound tho but atleast makes it enjoyable or interesting for general public (not only kpop listeners) unless they just want NMIXX to become a "fandom group".

I definitely feel you on this take. I feel like they put their singing more on display in all the covers they've posted on their channel, but in their actual songs? I'd like to see more vocal-heavy tracks. Not even just Haweon and Lily (I know they're not listed as 'main' vocals, but let's be real, they're the main vocals), but pretty much all of the group is able to hold their own vocally. I think what throws me off is the combination of the song being so short (not even 3 minutes) while also having these transitions between the 'mix' that could be cleaner.

Whole heartedly agree with your statements about NMIXX videos!!! Fatal error O.O: that long pause during the transition made it so abrupt that it made people think the song sucked at the transition (i actually believe the song transition of O.O is better than Dice especially comparing the 2nd transition of dice) For dice: They didnt give most members good screen time and line distribution. I dont mind a certain member getting many lines but when they cut to b-roll, they shouldn’t do it with a member with so little lines already. They shouldve been cutting to b-roll during kyujin/sullyoon lines. My issues: - Sullyoon high note transition isn’t highlighted - Bae, Haewon, jiwoo, and jinni ? Where were they the whole song?? SHOW THEM TO US - Clear kyujin sullyoon favoritism (dont mind it since its only their second song) - bad 2nd transition from change up (sullyoon highnote, was too abrupt) - song was too short and i feel they couldve made it more structured by making the song longer I am a big NSWER and I love their songs! Can’t wait for them to improve in future comebacks ❤️

I loved this song at first listen ! The chorus is crazy good, and I just love the verses as well. I'm in love with the music part at the very very beginning which just sounds so cool. I'm so glad it's actually in one of the two songs of Entwurf. I thought it was just a teaser setting the mood. Everything I wanted to see in this song is there 🤩♥️

I know everyone is saying they don't like the song but do you hear the BEAT on kyujijn and sullyoon at 4:17- 4:29 omg. do you see the way they do the crescendo at that part. its like your levitating on beat(and the 808 bass too ). and way the bell clashes on kyujin part . but you can deny the details that K-pop producers put on inst and beats its amazing.

I love nmixx, the girls are INSANE! their performance at kcon of move your body had my jaw on the floor. I have no clue wtf JYP is doing, the mv was tragic in my opinion and I actually don't hate the song, its just overall kinda messy. I agree that this isn't up to JYP standard.

i think your constructive comments make a lot of sense when you consider that nmixx is the first group of their division (jype is split into divisions, that basically work like smaller companies inside jype), so besides nmixx and their concept being new and experimental, the division might still be getting their footing. edit: by the way i was also really bothered by the screentime distribution! if you watch the performance you'll see lines are actually pretty balanced, but the mv makes the song look like kyujin and friends. kyujin is crazy talented and she slayed this, but it was also frustrating, some members were barely seen. like you said, even lily (who is arguably the most popular member internationally) only got a solo shot 2 minutes in (and it's not like that was her first line). that being said i loved the song!! and i loved the visuals of the music video. the fantasy game concept was really fun, but after hearing your criticism i do think it could've been better developed, it lacked some storytelling (maybe because of the switch ups?)

I think it shows how much you actually like NMIXX and want to see their potential be fully tapped into and showcased. Also, considering what you said about them maybe needing a bit more time to develop their true colour and musical identity, it's kind of a funny coincidence that their EP title 'Entwurf' means 'draft' in German. I'm definitely excited to see what direction they will ultimately take as a group and as artists. They have the talent and skills to pull off anything.

What’s funny is that, the transition to the high-note, the girl with blond her isn’t actually the doing the note. It’s another member.

The first chorus part was shot such way as to showcase the choreography. Because you don't get to see it in "full" in the latter half of the video. I really liked the MV, maybe it's because I watched all the teasers and concept photos which does help in understanding the MV to a great degree. And I loved the song on the first listen.

There's some parts in the song that make me have mix feelings about it, but I think it will grow on me quicker than O.O

as an editor... i dont know, but why do i think that the transition PD is talking and the bass drop is exactly on point (and in sync) . now with regards to the shot in the chorus... i think they really just saved that for the last chorus as doing it on the first chorus would make it less impactful when it is done again in the last chorus
