The Kulture Study: WooSung "FACE" MV 

The choice of models goes with the meaning the whole album has and the message Woosung wants to give out. He talked about this on ASC; the album is called Wolf and while one might think of a wolf as an aggressive and dangerous animal, at the same time wolves hate to be lonely and are sensitive. So he's basically saying "don't judge a book by its cover", don't judge someone based on their looks because there's more to them. Hence why he chose models that don't fit the typical beauty standart. Out of them I only know Nana, the dragqueen who also worked with Holland on the "I'm Not Afraid" mv. But the fact that the others are plussize and more androgynous people speaks for itself

Am I the only one noticing the interesting sexual visual references?

I don't know, but the close up images of kinda random things, if you actually pay attention, are really sexual. Is it just me who see this way?

For some reason the fact that during the entire video he kept a soft relaxed smiley face got my attention a lot. Like in kpop mvs is common to pull a serious "tryina-act-sexy" or a full on laugh "having-the-time-of-my-life" face but this guy kept smiling sweetly as if his crush gave them a compliment that made their day

I don’t know the exact details but I know Sammy competed on SuperBand so this might be an extra effort to draw in viewers from that. A very vague suggestion because I haven’t been able to find the show in America with eng subtitles. Sammy definitely delivered with this song. Thank you for reacting to it!

It looks like a Czechoslovakian wolfdog. I believe they are part wolf and part german shepherd. They were bred to have stamina of a wolf but the domestication of the german shepherd. If i remember correctly they were the product of an experiment in 1955 and were supposed to be used in war...i think.

He has said in an interview that The Rose will be making a comeback very soon.

Lemme just say it here: It's been so long and the rose hasn't had a comeback yet. They undergo legal processes w/ j&star (their company) earlier this year, i think, to terminate their contract. They haven't disbanded yet and I hope they don't because the rose is such an amazing band that possesses LEGIT talent and the kpop industry needs more bands like them. It's just unfortunate that they were signed to a not so good company who does not give them the proper treatment they deserve. The rose's comeback is postponed and dojoon already enlisted in the military without having updates about what will be the next step for them. I really really hope that everything will go well for them soon because it would be such a waste to lose them. For those who appreciate the rose, thank you very much and let us continue supporting them by listening to their other songs. ❤️

It was very smart for the company to time the solo album for after Sammy was in superband. Since many people might just know him as woosung and not know if he was in a band or not they could emphasize on him. Using woosung as the hook they could bring in more attention. When the fans look more into woosung they would find out he's in the rose and it would being more attention to their upcoming comeback. Marketing wise it makes sense since woosung is also in asc he can almost self market on large platforms as well as using his connections in the industry as he's been doing. Like when he went on music access with benji one of his team mates in superband.

I’m so happy that you finally reacted to this! I was wondering when or if you would and I was dying to hear what you thought. I love the immense diversity of the cast and the look of the mv. It’s very pleasing to watch and I never get tired of it. Definitely one of my fav mv’s of 2019. I was so excited for this and Woosung did not let us down. He really did an amazing job with this song and album. There’s no bad song on the album.

Woosung recently gained a lot of attention from being an MC on ASC, as well as from being a finalist on Superband. He had already been working on solo music, so I think from his rising popularity & the fact he already had music prepared - J&Star decided to give him a solo debut. The Rose will also be having a group comeback around Mid-August, just before the tour kicks off. ^^
