The Kulture Study: YUKIKA "Neon" + "Cherries Jubiles" MV 

"Neon" was Yukika's debut! I'd never heard of her before before that but wow what a unique way to start things off as a solo artist

I love CityPop and I love the Korean twist on it just as much! Lady by Yubin is another good one!

So the relation between Rothy, Ruann and Yukika and the MV's of theirs you checked out were Digipedi directed all their MV's; and we know how much PD looooves Digipedi; as much as we do too, XD ㅋㅋ Yukika's NEON was (song) produced by OREO, whom also did Loona's rain 51db, and Lovelyz's Shooting Star (both MV's directed by DigiPedi) Cherries Jubiles was (song) produced by Monotree's (Loona) GDLO and Choo DaeKwan. In May of 2019, Yukika was at KCON Japan where she first performed the accoustic version of Cherries Jubiles (a sneak peak of the song before it was even completed) In the Cherries Jubiles MV, everyone who knew of her accoustic version already knew the song from her KCON performance, but when the city pop version kicked in was the big surprise for everyone. Because the genre is influenced by 80-90s japan city pop, I think the boy is from 2019 n is in love or a fan of her n want to meet her but he can't (her cam was from 1989 at bottom left) but finally able to in the end because she come to the future?

Cherries Jubilees came out with 2 versions, acoustic and pop, the combination of them was just in the MV!

09:50 "Was that just a long intro or what's going on?" There are two versions of the song on the release, acoustic and full band. Each is ok on it's own but they definitely come off stronger combined in this video.

The theory for neon is that yukika plays an artist in the 80s and on that specific date but some how some way she ended up in 2019

Soul Lady was my intro into Yukika and she has such a cool sound and a great voice~~ CityPop is a genre I don't know a lot about, but Yukika does it well :)

The Cherries Jubiles video combines the acoustic version of the song with the regular version. Full versions of both are on her single. Thanks for giving some exposure to artists like Yukika, Rothy, Ruann, Bibi and more. I love the mainstream stuff, but I also live for finding hidden gems like these artists.

Personally, I preferred Neon musically, even though the reverb on the back beat accentuates low frequencies so much that it's kinda distracting. It's a stylish bop.

PD, there is an artist named Eyedi that has a similar style to Yukika and I believe she is Korean. I love her songs and definitely recommend!

Neon is easily one of my favourite songs of 2019. I love the city pop inspired sound and I hope she does well!

Thanks PD for review Yukika MV! I love her since I overheard "Neon" and love this song so much! She was hidden gems in Kpop music that many audience still not found. "Cherries Jubilees" new single hadn't had the chance to promote and show in any Korea TV music show. I hope that more audience will have chance to listen Yukika song.

Yukika! finally some good stuffs....i've gotten bored of kpop for the few recent years...n the only thing that kept me checking out kpop now is habit....bcuz i've been into it for more than a decade...it's not easy to just stop even though most songs just bored/annoyed me...but when i first tried Yukika randomly some months ago....she brought back some of my losing hopes to enjoy kpop again....maybe for the fact that her music/sound itself isn't like the average generic kpop sound....i like both songs....but because i'm also hugeee fan of acoustic genre....i really appreciate her going for it...that's not what mainstream kpop usually offers.
