What is compression when it comes to audio / music production?
Compression is a tool used to minimize the dynamics in audio by grabbing the loudest and quietest parts of a recording, bringing them closer together and creating a more even and balanced performance.

I love this compressor. For those that might not understand compression too much. With it on there is a colorization that is heard and you can feel the low end of the vocal amplified. And what I mean when I say feel; low end is much more felt rather than heard. Feel the speaker or phone there's is more physical movement.

The LA2A is also my personal favorite compressor and I use it in pretty much all of my productions.

Logic has a stock la2a emulation built into the compressor, worth trying!

As a great "guy who sets up podcasts" man once said, scoop the mids and overcompress LOL I don't understand why they so this lol

I believe they said that because the “muddy” frequencies in human speech are between 300-800hz which are the mids. Applying compression will reduce the dynamics in your audio so it’s not going to be super quiet in one part and loud in another part.. it will be more consistent.

Depends on what you listen with. The playback system is your biggest representation of the sound itself and the frequencies.

It increases the sibilance on the voice, create more problems not convinced of buy it

It’s generally a good idea to work on the sibilance before compression, either with a deesser, melodyne or manually gaining the down. Btw the LA 2A silver is free on Plugin boutique, 😊

@@TheVidman5 agreed! I use the DeEsser as the first plugin in my vocal chain. I didn’t know that it’s now free, but that’s awesome! Definitely one of my favorite plugins 😊
