Full of warm, romantic atmosphere, The Lamp is Low became a mainstay of Naama’s live shows, and a crowd favorite during her multiple, long-running residencies in the West Village. Thankfully for us, she’s now put it on record, bringing the feel of a sensuous night out straight into our homes and headphones. Right from the open, Steven Nelson (vibraphone) casts a dreamlike glow over everything, while Naama, with the breath in her tone and her soft dynamics, sounds as if she’s singing just for you. “This one’s my vibe song,” says Naama with a grin. “It’s a sexy song about being in bed with someone you love. We give a slow, sensual feeling to it.”

The Lamp is Low continues the rollout for Naama’s LP “Where Flamingos Fly,” music she describes as reflecting a more vulnerable, mature side of herself, all within the magical sound palette of her longtime band. “This project is more about me and where I was emotionally while recording it. It’s a true self-portrait, a grown up album.”
