As a Maltese. Ive had the opportunity to be part of the team in Heritage Malta to do new research on Paleoloxodon falconari and many other species not mentioned in the video found on the maltese Islands.😊
Amazing! It's so exciting whenever I meet gems like you in comment sections so I can ask questions :) What's the most unexpected or strange fossil you've seen there, other than these OP swans and the dwarf elephants?
Omg can you imagine if these tiny elephants were still alive. So cute. Probably would be wiped out by stupid humans long before we could ever witness them
@@12ww37 What the heck is a zoomer? I'm a bit old, I still enjoy anime and video games. Is that you mean? Is InuYasha a zoomer anime? Batman Beyond or X-Men Evolution a zoomer cartoon? Is Senran Kagura or Hyperdimension Neptunia a zoomer game series?
A 2018 study showed Palaeoloxodon to be products of a complex history of hybridization, with over 60% of their nuclear DNA coming from basal African Elephants, 6% from mammoths, and 30% from African bush elephants that were most closely related to the modern West African populations.
Those swans remind me of the rocs/rukhs from 'The Arabian Nights.' In one of the stories (one of Sinbad's many voyages, I believe), the bird is described as being so large that it can pick an elephant up with its talons.
I find it funny that you mention that because recently I’ve heard rumors that the animal that you mentioned, instead of being a swan might be the Magalasy crowned eagle, which became extinct 300 years before Europeans discovered Madagascar
Why don’t you get to think and make a suggestion creating another RU-vid Videos Shows that’s all about the Extinct Prehistoric Amphicyons (Bear Dogs) on the next Extinct Zoo coming up next?!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👍👍
It is amusing how the author takes great care to avoid discussing the obvious reason for the extinction of this fauna, as well as most megafaunas in the world: predation by humans. Is it politically incorrect now to say that early Homo sapiens were such formidable hunters that most large animals had no chance of surviving the contact? Whether it was in North America, South America, Australia or Eurasia, Africa being the only exception (see J. Diamond's "Guns...").
@raja2850 Firstly, I did not raise an opinion about breeding smaller elephants; I asked a question and You need to learn to tell the difference. Secondly, since You yourself cannot even tell the difference between a question and an opinion; you're judgement about anything anyone says does not matter at all, regardless of whatever beasts are native to your country or whatever country you are native to. Thankyou bro.
@@ahmedshaharyarejaz9886 you should've used a '?' at the end of your sentence for a question. I thought you said that we should recreate small elephants.
The Younger Dryas Events (two mass extinctions caused by at least one massive meteor shower impacting over Greenland causing massive amount of meltwater to wash everything in the USA away) are what destroyed the megafauna, not humans. We survived because we weren't as uncivilized as you were all taught in school growing up. In fact, probably quite better off than we are today, judging by the way they could build and the Great Pyramid design.
I was able to visit Malta in the spring of 2000. We got the chance to visit caves where we saw the excavated skeletons of mini elephants, deer, and hippos. I don't remember seeing anything about large swans but possibly, there weren't any in that particular cave. It was super interesting!
Imagine the first people in sicily to discover these fossils. Seeing tiny elephant and gigantic swan fossils in Italy of all places must of been insane.
Elephants are "impervious" to attack? Au contraire, mon frere! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R7REuHTERRs.html&pp=ygUbZWxlcGhhbnRzIGF0dGFja2VkIGJ5IGxpb25z
When the scientists are trying to revive extinct species, as they are supposedly doing with the wooly mammoth, I hope the wee falconari elephants are on the short list. 😍 They would have advantages over their modern cousins for dealing with a hotter climate.
And then along came Flores... Homo Floresiensis was a species of hominid whose remains were found on the Flores Island in Asia. This species was around the size of a Hobbit, which made it receive such a nickname given by its discoverers. The island also had elephant-relatives (Stegodon) and large birds (Leptoptilos robustus), not unlike Sicily.
Im sorry but are you comparing giant swans to dwarf elephants and yet structuring the title to suggest the swans were as big as ACTUAL elephants? Cause thats why i clicked. Extremely disingenuous and clickbait-y. Wont be clicking your vids again
