Just a heads up for anyone watching this reading the notation.. the 6 beat phrase at around 5:20 is a left handed paradiddle not right. So just flip the sticking as the notation on screen is the opposite of what’s being played
@VicFirthCompany

oops. you're right! and the next one is a left paradiddle too. Thanks, Tom!

Great playing here. But im cringing at the at this great student and future playing professional's seat posture and shoulder positioning. Back straighter and instruments a little closer. This reduces that forward throw which may not now but in time will contribute to physical adaptions that result in pain where so many players north of 35 now have to stop . I want everybody to play as long as possible. Ed Soph and Bill Stewart have consistently good posture at the drums. Always have.Thing is piano players get hand positioning and seat posture instruction from the beginning. Drummers , particularily younger ones need this information NOW. Fantastic group sounds and playing examples here. Well done :) I am a huge Bill Stewart and VIC FIRTH fan . see you at Namm 2019 :)

Louis, great point. My posture has been bad for years and both Ed Soph and John Riley have pointed it out to me. It's taken a bit but now at 37 it is catching up and I am working hard to fix my posture on the kit because it is affecting every part of my life. It's important., super important.

Suggestion....Maybe use less forearm and more wrist and fingers. Here is a great example of Stewart wrist and fingers when playing the ride cym. Just look as the first few measures and you will see the difference. Check out.... Bill Stewart: Live at Modern Drummer 2008.

Let the kid do it his own way, who cares, it’s music, and his technique is swinging...greg Errico played arm technique, seemed to work out ok for him.

MY experience after teaching hundreds of drummers over thirty some years, is that less forearm and more wrist and fingers sounds better as far as flow and sound goes.@@jonthedrummer
