"finding out as much about the laramies as we can. that's what you came here for." well shit. I came here to learn how to fold an origami dick. this is quite the predicament
Do you always look in the mirror in the middle of replying to someone on RU-vid? That’s weird. I mean you’re no Carlin or Pryor, but you don’t have to beat yourself up by saying that you’re unfunny.
Geddes physical appearance reminds me of actor George Furth in his prime. Furth was in Blazing Saddles. He was the townsman who barged into the Sheriff's office.
I get that Abigail wants to leave the past behind, but she doesn't seem to understand the mortal danger she is in with the Laramies escalating things and it's a bit forced that she wouldn't let John go after a direct order from his boss to arm himself and take the cattle back.
Yeah, that conflict felt a tad contrived. But I can see where shes coming from. We gotta take into account how this is just one in many of a long chain of johns bad behavior. So she was already done with him before this and I think it could be safe to assume that she may have ready been ready to leave him.
@@Runch78 Deep down, Abigail truly loves John. It's just that she is tired of the killing, and the outlaw life and wants to start fresh and new. And it is contrive of her to yell at John, even though it was the Laramie Gang who escalated things and John was ordered to go out and kill them
I feel like a lot of it has to do with her being upset at the situation in general. I’m sure she knows that it would be best for them if John makes sure the Laramie boys are gone, but can’t help being frustrated at yet another problem that demands John to risk exposure of their true identities.
That bear scared the shit out of me first time I encountered it, heard it, thought it was behind the house somewhere, went inside to get safe, and BANG, bear in the face.
Playing this again after a few years and I remembered that bear was there, so I thought to myself, "Self, don't open that door, sneak around back, and ambush the bear.". Rockstar must have planned for that because the bear ran out the back of cabin and attacked, despite a couple headshots from the Springfield Rifle
It makes you wonder just how powerful the Van Der Linde gang were at the height of their powers, eg. chapter 2-4, if Marston by himself could wipe out the Laramies. Arthur could certainly do the same, Dutch and Micah too. Sadie could probably make quite a dent too.
The Van Der Linde gang could and did reliably win pretty much every shootout they were in. However they had so many enemies that inevitably they were gonna get overwhelmed.
dont forget the brains of the gang, hosea and lenny are by far the smartest people in the gang and the rest of their gang aren't too useless either. we see uncle try to get scores for the rest of the gang and we see swanson give it a shot as well. bill and javier are pretty much just extra guns but they are able to find decent scores for the gang. trelawny is able to find and plan the best scores for the gang and can also help get people out of trouble. pretty much every gang member has their uses, well most of them at least lol. hell even the women in camp can handle a gun if it came down to it
Seven years passed the first act, most gangs were just a far fetch from their larger counterparts that used to roam the West. The Del Lobo gang is one of the larger and fiercest still active, since there is little law or other gangs that can compete against them. But in the more Eastern parts, most gangs are either isolationists or incororated thugs like the Laramies. Even more years passing in 1911 most gangs Marston has to face are little but ruffians and local outcasts, rather than the big organised outlaw gangs he used to fight.
Charles too. he'd cause quite a lot of problems for them before they even knew what hit them. I mean....the Van Der Lindes took out a whole came of colms boys without any taking any major hits. and that was without Charles and Hosea. though colms boys are idiots....they're pretty useless. but it would have been interesting to see the gang as a whole take on another really big gang that were more capable than the odriscols.
If the Mayor is preventing the Sherriff from going after the gang, it's possible he got the newspaper's writer to leave out their violent tactics from the article
@@Fizhy what if they are remnants of the o driscoll gang and the skinner brothers are the remnants of the murfree brood or they were members of it that split off as they are similar in there brutality
They're based on the Wyoming stockmen association who were rich cattleman who didnt want competition from outside sources and hired all sorts of seedy people like tom horn who possibly killed a child
Prior to your comment they reminded me more of The Cowboys Gang but come to think of it the Wyoming Stockmen makes sense because they’re mentioned as being “out of Laramie” probably meaning Laramie, WY.
Never understood Abigail during the epilogue... Having a go at John when he defends the Ranch, when he goes after the Laramies to get Geddes cattle back, he was simply defending Geddes and his workers and when he never exactly asked to get into a gunfight when he on his way back from Strawberry with Jack
She was tired of the violence and the running, she was worried about her kid. Shes a mother after all. She didnt really think straight but i dont blame her.
I always felt like the Laremies were the end results of the Odrisscols just like how I feel the Dutches gang in rdr1 was a mix of skinners and the young reservations natives Dutch got on his side
@@Tavemanic well if you remember dutches gang in rdr1 had natives, white folks mainly mountain men and a few Hispanic members Look at some of the pics on Google😁💯 There's one dude with a top hat with feathers who's a perfect example It'd explain where the remaining skinners went after John and Charles wiped them out and how Dutch acquired cochinay
I love rdr2 its so historically accurate. During this time laissez faire policies and the gilded age were at large meaning trusts and corporations could essentially wipe out their competitors. This truly reflects that!
I absolutely love the epilogue of this game. It some how has almost equal if not more of the iconic story telling rockstar puts in the main chapters of this game
I've encountered them a women who tells you that they have got her husband back at their homestead and their giving him the hard sell and I've encountered them shooting homesteaders cattle
The Wyoming stock growers maybe the reference in the game, but these range wars were all over for a while. Then you had loads of gangs and hired muscle that specialized in intimidation and arson for large companies, it was one of the main rackets for street gangs in 1910's New York City. Basically, a gang or mob would be hired to beat up strikers or in the case of the west force out homesteaders so a corporation could continue to work unhindered; or if it's the homesteaders being burnt out the usual reason was, they wanted complete control over grazing and water rights. Then they would have the audacity to charge people access to something they were getting for free, ah modernity.
it's kinda hilarious that the guy who keeps insulting abigail has literally no clue he's talking to john marston, one of dutch's boys. it'd be amazing if there were a mission where john fesses up like "fuck you, I used to ride with Dutch van der Linde!"
Right same as Arthur bet half the people who came across them would’ve ran and soiled themselves knowing their fucking with the Van Der Linde gang like don’t fw them or else you end up like the grays and braithwaites lmao
I wish John would've told him in the barn right before he blew his head off. Let the realisation of how fucked he was right from the beginning sink in in his final moments. It would've been so satisfying and no one else would've heard it so it wouldn't have blown his cover. Missed opportunity for a legendary line.
9:40 lmao. He swing opens the cylinder of his single action army. Must have been a animation oversight. Just like the Schofield you pick up in the docs office in valentine being a swingout when you first pick it up
I know that you can't expect everything in a game to be perfect, but that shit bothers me to no end. That, and when Arthur draws on Micah in the final showdown and his hammer isn't cocked. I think there's also a couple times that the SAA is fired with the hammer down.
A small part of me agreed with her because they did leave that life behind but it's not like John would have been able to not do anything when they're trying to rob his place of work
Abigail and Sadie are the worst characters in the whole franchise. I wish Sadie died instead of Grimshaw and I obviously wish Marston dumped Abigail's dumb, whiny ass for Bonnie McFarlane.
The ending song always immediately brings me to the brink of tears. Honestly, what a powerful game. Thanks for revisiting all these stories, it's awesome.
Hi Fizhy, I am pretty sure you know there is a random encounter just outside the hanging dog ranch about this gang - a couple of the gang members try to steal cattle of a poor fellow. Worth putting it in the video maybe since there is not much going on in the game about the Laramie gang
The musical score for this game is amazing. John getting the cattle back, joining the braves to storm the refinery, and Arthur's final stand are all stand outs in an outstanding experience.
I remember a random encounter of a woman saying she needs help that her husband is being threaded, and when you go there you see 2 man forcing the husband into signing something and when you kill them the husband said they where thugs from mr Abel. I believe it was the same house where Arthur was being held after he got kidnapped since both houses where similar looking and they both had a open basement. But I don’t now for sure.
As your doing a rdr 1 play through you should definitely do a Walton gang or bollard twin episode I know there’s a limited amount of content on them but it would be cool I reckon
I love how you add bits of historical significance into your content so we're not only entertained, but educated on the origins of many of the RDR lore
As an og John Marston lover, that pause when he has the gun pointed at the leader in the barn cutscene is *chef's kiss*. What an icon. I really love the epilogue in this game, and I don't understand those who don't. I like to get into more mischief with John, and it's very satisfying to know he won't die in THIS game. 😅
I still hate Abigail for her stupid whining after John doing what needs done. Yes, stay out of trouble when at all possible. But when trouble comes to you, you react with swift and overwhelming force. Otherwise, that trouble will never leave you alone.
3:40 Fizhy: They may not be capable lads, but they have no idea who they're fucking with in John Marston BROOOOOOO I SWEAR I GOT GOOSEBUMPS AS YPU SAID IT. FRFR
Ironic that the laramie gang would become Trevor philips enterprises, petrochem corp, etc considering that the gang leader is Trevor’s great grandfather or something like that. Maybe the Laramie corporation later get splintered by John Marston when one of the gang members took revenge on John after the rdr 2 epilogue and maybe where responsible for killing their baby daughter.
You know, I'm aware there's barely any info on the "gang", considering it's exclusive to Online, but any hope of doing a video about 7'th Generation? They're subject of the 3 infamous bounty posters in Valentine, and the sect leader is a legendary bounty (who, if you ask me, has the most complex bounty mission).
i wonder if the Laramie's are a reference to what Blackrock, Inc. has been doing these past few years, buying up everything they can get their hands on in order to consolidate their power and monopolize everything. i'm kind of bummed that Rockstar didn't do anything with the Laramies in online though.
Doesn't help BlackRock is headed by a self-important ponce with messiah complex, who happens to be the same person that caused the '08 crash by selling investors into a flawed trading algorithm.
Honestly in my personal head-cannon, RDO takes places starting in 1875. Things like electricity in some towns, and weapons like the SAA and Winchester repeaters existed, and I don't feel depressed imagining that my character only got to experience the Old West in its twilight years. But then again, my RDO oc isn't exactly a normal human either (to explain the respawning after being "killed" and seemingly almost superhuman abilities of the playable character. So in my story they're still alive by 1899 too. And still alive today, in their physical prime. I've basically written a quarter of a novels worth of backstory for my character by this point and made endless revisions and done years of historical research on US history during the 1800's to make sure it's as well written as possible lol Maybe I get a little TOO into the game lol, but I have fun so that's all that matters.
I wish they would have thrown in a line for john when he picks up Bart Cavanaugh and Bart acts like he’s untouchable like, “you ever heard of Jim Milton?” And have Bart freak the fuck out.
I hate how Abigail gets so mad at John for killing some of the Laramies. The Laramies were literally destroying Pronghorn Ranch. If John didn't retaliate, Pronghorn Ranch would've been destroyed, and John or the whole family would've been killed. I get Abigail wants to protect the family and all but shes too stupid to understand the predicament they're in. Same thing when John was ambushed by those guys on the trail with Jack when coming back from Strawberry. If John didn't kill them John would've been killed and Jack probably would've been killed or kidnapped. Abigail's so dumb
In RDO the Strawberry citizens will make comments about a the new mayor as well. I'm assuming it's the same mayor as it shows the citizens aren't happy with and are suspicious of him. The General Store owner, if you take your time looking at the catalog, will talk about the mayor and how he's trying to "change" things and possibly for the worst. He mentions "East Coast" folks aka "frilly city folk" coming to Strawberry and not liking it outside of their money. Goes to show that the mayor has been dirty for a long time.
The Strawberry mayor is in a relationship with the Hotel manager guy that’s why. Mr. Abel might have been blackmailing him. I’m pretty sure it was supposed to be explored but was cut content bc the guy you can guide to Strawberry the first time you go there mentions there’s something strange about the mayor.
Honestlt its a funny parallel on bounty huntimg missions with John and Arthur, Arthur is just a smartass and sassy the whole time while, at least with Bart Cavanaugh, hes completely nonchalant and so dismissive
Like how that Laramie boy still tries to talk shit like he is so tough even after getting his ass kicked by John. And yeah you will see John again, but he’ll be the last thing you see before getting both barrels from his sawn off shotgun in the end. XD
I always wondered by John wore Arthur’s hat during some missions, guessing he didn’t have his signature hat yet? But then again he wears it during American Venom as well
What i don't like is how Abigail gets mad at John for killing the Laramies, when literally they are saving the people that gave them a home and a job. Abigail is just stupid and ungrateful. And Mr Geddes told John to get his weapons and get their cattle. Imagine if John listened to Abigail. The Laramies probably would've tortured the workers and owners until they are forced to sell, and then what will Abigail and Jack do?
Mr. Gedes tells John to deal with his distant cousin "Ansel Atherton" for the loan for his ranch. And "Abel Atherton" is the head of the Cattle Association (4:06 time stamp in your video). I wonder if there is a connection between these Athertons and Gedes
