The top of the cab is ALWAYS more matt than the dark colour of the rest of the locomotive. It also used to be the case with quite a lot of other locomotives, like the Hall and Castle Class steam locomotives.
I think the reason the chassis when sold separately comes without traction tyres is to improve electrical pickup as you don’t get the tender with the extra pickups. With the tender attached when buying the complete loco you can sacrifice some electrical pickup to increase traction. Lovely little locos and great review as always.
Great review Jenny, but PLEASE !!! Ships have funnels, locomotives have chimneys !!! This is akin to some being rankled by "train station" instead of railway station. Keep up the excellent work
