I think it would be better if you visited more local areas. Like nisantasi, besiktas, kadikoy, bebek, etiler… everyone goes to touristic places. Places like taksim or sultanahmet is just made for tourists and don’t really represent turkey with sellers and stuff.

Istanbul is one of the oldest trading hubs in the world and was one of the most densly populated cities of the world for more than a thousand years. It should be overwhelming for someone who is not accustomed to hectic metropoles and doesn't know what good and bad can be expected. I don't mean it for you, but for inexperienced travelers. It is unique but confusing and scary for Turkish people too if they are coming from smaller cities and towns. It is strange that the city stands there for more than a milennia witnessing the concept of "city" is developed around it. In old times it is roumored to be called just "city" because it was "the city". Name Constantinople was changed to Istanbul after several years passed when Dynastical monarchy of Ottomans failed finally and Republic is found, in 1930. Galata tower was not Byzantine, it was in a Genoese trading colony that had autonomy up to a degree, by the way.

The Hingarians are coming esrlier to European continent sonthey miced with Europeans and are Christians the Ottoman Turks are entering Anatolia and chnged his Shamanist Religion slowly to Islam . 😁
