The Conqueror in War Thunder is simply put one of the most devastating vehicles in the game. The 120mm cannon is fully stabilised and packs a HUGE punch. The APDS is the largest and heaviest in the game and pretty much can one shot anything you face.
Due to the new APDS changes the round almost has enough penetration to go through 500mm of armour at point blank and due to the weight that doesn't drop off much at long distances. On paper, this change looks amazing but APDS has been behaving really strangely since the update.
Today, we take a look to see what's what and show you what this thing can do!

I was on that exact same map, same battle mode as Odd'z. Went on the same flank as him as well, alerted the team to it too. Got pincered, went out again alerted the team again. Got pincered again. The team got absolutely stomped as those tanks pushed forward and pincered everyone else as well. Not one team member came to help me. I feel your pain.

With all the shell ejection animations they've been adding, I really hope they don't forget conqueror. Not many realise it had an auto-eject system. That's what that door on the right side of the turret is for.

That shoot at IS-4M is beautiful ( 18:36 ). Purpose of big Conqueror's gun exactly shown here. To defeat soviet heavies. 140mm armour at good angles! Just beautiful, like a knife through butter.

Sabo is bugged still it seems like if any parts hit the sabo(example: optics or turret drive) it simply disappears. Because if you shoot low on a T 54 the sabo still travels the length of the vehicle. But the moment it hits an optic the sabo is gone

I have never noticed this. I play with the m60 and it's never happened to me. But then again the m60's APDS has fuckall spall damage so I HAVE to aim for weak spots ._.

@@Fizzyxd it's a bug introduced after the update with the penetration buff to sabo so I'm not surprised u didn't notice it but go grab a T 54 and shoot the upper front plate in the hanger if u look closely you'll notice only the Shrapnel will appear and the sabo is gone

So it is a bug but not how you're thinking, after the update APDS would take a hard turn post pen and launch through the floor of the tank, for reasons no one can explain. That's the bug, the "fix" is that they turned off APDS post pen so it just disappears, then bumped up the spalling to hope that the spalling would replace the slug itself. This is fine like 90% of the time... except when fighting things with spaced armor, check out the class 3P in protection analysis and you'll see the thin spaced armor (in particular the turret, it's not even consistent among spaced armor) completely invalidates the APDS, even a 500mm pen one like the conqueror. It's so fucked up it's actually insane.

Unless you have an encyclopaedic knowledge of where to hit tanks at the BR you're playing at, APDS is basically the assist king. That being said it's been amazing for Wingman wagers, very few things will out assist you so getting the higher levels of that wager has been fairly easy.

@@limibaen low pen heatfs that is, anything more than 380mm of pen of heatfs can go through, things like m103 leopards and ikv, low pen heatfs though cannot such as the m47, bmp1 and most of the annoying stuff like the raketnaut, ush and 90mm heat in genreal. worth nothing the mantlet seems to swallow everything more than half the time, including atgms, ive experienceed it many times swalloing 400mm heatfs and atgms to the mantlet, u could even take a look at the armor viewer and see it literally eats everything

I tried to use the conquerer the other day but I've given up, that big pen value is good and all but it's useless because the apds just doesn't work I've found, a T-44s upper front plate can ricochet this round somehow...

Have been trying to grind for the Chieftain with the Conqueror and the APDS had been awful for me. So much to the point that i have resorted to using HESH almost exclusively. Although HESH can be hard to use I've found that it alot more reliable.

@@cheetahda1o763 I would recommend the APHE on the patton and try and hit side shots and flanks and learning weak spots, because you face plenty of light tanks which are an easy one shot

As a british 5.3-8.0 main, Interestingly this update has fucked up spalling on british apds (which was already minimal), and it increased ‘shell shattered’ moments, whenever you hit an optic or an overlap. I’d argue it is a nerf, since the apds on the 17pdr was already penetrating almost everything at it’s br

Conqueror is my most played tank, my issue is the armor over the speed, the speed is fine, heavy tanks shouldnt be fast and dont need to be. Imo I wish the conquerors armor profile was more consistent.

It's thanks to this buff and the general survivability and mobility of the Conq that I managed to drop my first ever nuke since they were introduced. It's also become one of my favorite 7.7 vehicles only beaten out by the AMX-30.

"biggest apds shell in the game" T10M, and Chieftain MK3 and Mk5 want to have a talk with you (I know they are big but not as heavy so technically smaller) But really have a look at the chieftains APDS penetration compared to the conqueror. It's less than half now it's honestly pathetic. It even has less pen than a 20 pounder from the centurion MK3! But then the L7 has less pen than that now... Anyway put conqueror up to 8.3 and Chieftain down to 7.7 lol Also ODD please please review the Chieftain mk5 next and really see why the fuck it's at 8.7 with 298mm of penetration.

Shoutout to Gaijin for making APDS make no sense. The 120 on the Conq has almost 500mm of pen where the Chieftain with the same caliber has 200mm less pen. But the 84mm 20 pdr has almost 400 but the 105 L7 has like 350. Make that make sense in any world. If I’m correct that means that the Charioteer can UFP a Tiger 2 at 1000m+ but a Chieftain cannot.

The APDS shell shatter is bullshit. A lot of these APDS rounds are as bad as APCR almost. I try to run HEAT-FS all the time over these shells anymore. Hell even my comet I run the AP rounds with around 150 pen because the APDS are pin holing through most tanks and doing nothing.

so since apds needed its formular changed and to be able to shatter, surely APHE needs the soul beat out of it too. shatter and 3 degree explosion cone for aphe when? (no please instead fix apds and hesh, also tune APHE away from being a handgrenade no matter the size but dont fck with the reliability of it).

APDS got massively nerfed, it's painful how no one actually looks at this stuff in the hangar, they just look at the point blank flat pen number and think that is what matters. Angled pen is worse, which is far more important. Damage is nerfed, it only comes from spall now, since the projectile disappears, so ammo detonation is far less likely, and overlapped plates are completely invulnerable to APDS now, because of the disappearing projectile, "shell shattered" etc. But why would Gaijin fix anything when people don't even notice what is happening in the game they play...

Sorry for the rant but this should not be in the same br as the is-4. The is-4 has a slower reload, non-stabilised cannon, it’s slower Than the conqueror also it has not a good smokes than the conqueror and arguably the conqueror has a better shell, yet people may say that APCBC is better than the APDS but the pen difference with APDS makes a huge difference and if you just have okay aim you can one shot enemy tanks almost every time so APCBC in my opinion is worse. The only thing the is-4 has on the conqueror is hull armour which most of the doesn’t matter because most of the time your in cover reloading for 20+ seconds. Again sorry for the rant lol

The conq really didnt need this "Buff" it could already pen everything if you werent dumb and honestly id take the reward for shooting better rather than less reward for hitting anywhere. What i fail to understand the most is how a tank like the chieftain- Which not only has a smaller more cramped turret, less crew, and no auto loader. Has a reload time HALF that of the conq. Idk what magic they use but i would very much like to know because i was very surprised at just how effective and protected the chief is considering the BR its at. I dislike that high of a tier but the chieftain was surprisingly fun. Conq is one of my favourite tanks in WT right there with the avenger and more recently the chieftain.

Why do your enemies play like bots? In the real world, you would have survived 40 seconds with the way you play. I know Conqueror very well. it is slow and noisy. The enemies should have destroyed you in 1 minutes of play.

conquerer is so neat that the commander actually has a seperate turret within the turret able to focus on the next target and mark it so after first target is down the turret turns to second target that the commander had eyes on already, very neat and i dont care about any of warthunders qwirks but, but they need to do something about the barrel going through rocks and buildings why not just make it solid like everything else, itll be tough to get used to but if gta5 can do it warthunder can...then u can actually use buildings to turn ur turret faster especially in an m10
