In our latest battle report for the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game, the Last Alliance led by Elendil and Glorfindel square up against two of Sauron's wraiths: The Witch King and the Tainted.

Great battle report, guys! Regarding taking Kardush in your future lists, I don't think Kardush is the issue. I think it's the channelled fury. I don't think you get a lot of value for the 6+ invulnerable save. I think the best part about fury is the fearless, particularly once you're broken. So instead of using the might point for the heroic channel, I suggest saving it for modifying the casting roll. The probability of getting a 3+ on 2 dice is 89% (which is admittedly pretty high). The probability of getting a 2+ (which can be mighted to a 3) on 2 dice is 97%. If I am going to spend 2 will and 1 might on the cast, I'd rather save the might to modify the cast roll and bump up my cast roll odds to a 1/36 chance of failing. Coincidentally, 1/36 is also the chances of getting 2 wounds back from a channelled fury's invulnerable save. If you save the might for modifying then you also have an 88% chance that you won't need to spend the might. So it can be saved for a channelled flameburst spell, which inflicts the Set Ablaze special rule on the target. These are particularly effective in the late game when the enemy is out of will because they've had to resit the bulk spells the Witch King been throwing. I have a lot of fun running Kardush in my Mordor lists. I hope you give him another go.

nice bat rep. iI did think Mordor would drive to the centre and then defend it, but it swung towards Elendils force instead. But those dice rolls against Elendill were epic. look forward to seeing more batreps

I've won games on the first turn using Kardush sniping enemy Leaders/Heros, plus Fury is mandatory in most lists.

Not gonna lie, it's a little annoying to see someone keep rolling 6-high on cast rolls and then complain when their opponent rolls 6-high on resists. Resist dice are statistically advantaged compared to casting dice, so you should not have any real expectation that your magic will be effective at the time you are choosing to cast a spell using 2-3 dice against a model like Elendil or Glorfindel.

@@NowForWrathGaming I mean, I get it. But as a bit of constructive feedback for both the channel and improving as players, I would say that you sometimes dwell too much on dice. I love the content you put out and I think it would be improved if you redirected some of the energy towards analysis. Like, specifically when talking about throwing a 2 dice spell at a hero with 2 free resist dice, that's a fairly low-odds play (especially when trying to black dart Glorfindel's horse, since he has Horse Lord; you're not killing Asfaloth that easily). There's an argument to be made that you would be better off just throwing black darts at elves because it's less luck-dependant. So, sure, when you roll a 6 and they resist on a 6 it feels bad from the POV of the moment when you rolled a 6. But I would argue that it's not legitimate because it was a low odds play *at the decision point*, so you really can't say you got unlucky. And then add to that the strategic elements I discussed above, what it boils down to is getting upset that a strategically dubious low-odds play didn't work out. And I think that focussing on being upset makes you less likely to step back and think: "should I have even done that?" Anyway, that's my longwinded food for thought. Overall, I think the channel and content is great. If NowForWrathGaming doesn't win MESBG RU-vid Channel of the Year, I will kill myself on live TV.
