I believe electrification and heading towards renewable energies is inevitable and ultimately where the world is headed in the next century because as much as oil and gas is essential to us now, it is still a finite resource. However, HOW we transition depends on us. We could either do it the smart way or the dumb way. The smart way is to keep investments in oil and gas while slowly gradually putting in money for research for better/cleaner technologies. We had been doing that prior to Trudope. This allows our economy to survive, people to live comfortably without high energy costs/inflation. Canada thus produces oil/gas in one of the cleanest ways in the world. However, this doesn't sit well with climate leftists and doesn't help the elite get votes. Therefore, they opted to do the dumb way, which is to completely kill off the oil and gas industry outright in a short span of time and going full dictatorship mode to force ppl to adopt electric by taxing ppl to death to keep using oil while offering no viable alternatives for the average ppl i.e. EV's are still very expensive and the electric grid and charging infrastructures aren't ready yet. I honestly don't know if making ppl suffer like this is planned or not, but I'm inclined to believe nobody is this stupid for this to be a mere mistake

Investors won't put capital into projects that do not generate revenue, this is why the government needs to put its money where it's mouth is. This is exactly the kind of infrastructure that governments are required to fund because the public needs it and no private company will invest in it (just like building libraries, schools, roads, etc.)

I dont understand why they wont build the pipeline to the east coast on a contract that says to use some of the oil generated funds to research and improve "greener" energy tech, then once they have a cost effective and reliable energy source to replace oil use the existing pipelines to move it

The natural gas reserves of 3.8 trillion cubic meters and the oil 1.2 billion tonnes just these two hydrocarbons Ukraine will be self sufficient for 60 years. The rare earths is another interesting mineral and Ukraine will be first place in Europe. In order to get to these resources over 120 billion dollars is needed to be invested.
