The last day. Hummingbird nest day 21 [1029] 

Backstory and links. I found a ruby throated hummingbird nest on the morning of July 13, 2022. Saw the female leave my wife's garden and go up into the trees. After stopping at two other trees along the way, she went to the nest. I was floored! Never thought I would find one, let alone in the yard where I could spend a lot of time watching (and filming).
The nest is about 30-40 feet off the ground, so all the filming is done through a spotting scope (small telescope for birdwatching). Using an adapter, we take turns using our phones to film (called digiscoping). The effective magnification is about 100X, so wind, vibration, and heat shimmer can be a problem.
She must have just laid her second egg because she started incubating the next day. For the next two weeks she sat there diligently as her eggs grew. On July 28 she first looked into the nest like "hey guys, almost ready?" and on July 29 we saw the first feedings. Hatch day (Day 1).
Every day since then, we get up early to film mom take care of her chicks, and put up videos online. She feeds them nectar and little bugs.
