I know obviously trying to draw any kind of consistent canon together between the books and the audios is absolutely impossible at this stage, and the majority of BF listeners won't be all that familiar with the VNAs, but for me this felt totally pointless as the last few New Adventures were written specifically to set up the Doctor as he is at the very start of the movie, and they're all done so brilliantly in that regard. This, in contrast, was abysmal on every level. Benny and Mel made a pretty good comedy duo and I'd happily take a spinoff of them together, but otherwise this is one I'm not listening to again.

I would’ve had the ending be 7 walking out the Tardis and getting shot and we hear Chang Lee and Grace (but not named but have Yee Jee Tso and Daphne Ashbrook reprise their roles). Then have a scene of Doctor reminiscing on his life and companions. I would give him the last words of “I’ve got work to do” before regenerating. I know this is kind of a copy of 6’s Brink of Death, but I think 7 deserves proper last words then going into cardiac arrest screaming “ARGGGGGHHHH!!!”

Unfortunately, they can't do that. From what I understand due to rights issues, they can't have Yee or Daphne voice those characters even if they don't mention their names. Basically, we'll they can use Paul and Eric from the movie they can't use anything made for the movie. Since the master and doctor existed before the movie they can use those versions but have to limit what they use from the movie. For example in one of his collections, Eric mentions that he took someone's body but I believe he can't mention whose as it would be mentioning the movie. To do what you're saying was cool would be impossible right now. The trial of the master can be mentioned as all are pre-existing characters even though it's mentioned in the movie
