Went there in 1983. As a 10 year old it was the height of cool to go to Bedrock. They used to have recordings of the characters that would sound off when you stepped on a floormat in front of the statues {there used to be a lot more statues} Wow that was a trip down memory lane, thanks!
As a kid growing up in the 70's I absolutely loved the Flintstones, unfortunately living in Australia I've never heard of this place, I would have loved to go there. Thanks for the video.
I last visited this park back in 2005. Even then, it looked pretty run down. I'm actually surprised it hung on that long. I'm newly subscribed to your channel, after finding one of your videos on facebook. It's interesting to see how much you have improved your videos.
Just visited a month ago, they've done a lot, filled the houses and there are wonderful views of the wild raptors and a kind of zoo with other birds of prey. While we were there no one else was except the keepers who were feeding at the time. Highly recommend!
I started watching your channel last week, I'm going through all your older videos and really enjoying it. Thanks for the uploads my friend, hope to see you out there while I'm adventuring with my family! I'll for sure say, "Hi!"
i love your work my friend ,,just found you chanel i was looking at the old hwy 60 vid in az, i spent about 3 months a year every year from '94 to '04 visiting the US when i was involved in the opal trade , it's a bit sad to see so many of the fun parks that i took my kids to now vanishing , there was a wild west town at the edge of pheonix and another just outside vegas that are now closed , we used to do all the steam train rides like from williams and the silverton to toltecetc , you could try the birdcage saloon at tombstone if they allow filming ,for one of your historic sites , in early 90's tombstone was real raw , it's a shame it's all lollie popped up now , cheers big ears from down under
The reason for the gas station wasn't to use gas, the attendant used the hose to wash off your feet. There was a couple of cartoons that they showed that.
In the cartoons, the gas pumps were mastadons. The gas station in the Flintstones movie was Chevrock. You also would have bought stone tires there when you got a flat (chipped off).
I've been there once back in june 2016. I was with my grandparents at the time, i went inside the gift shop but i never did any exploring around the attraction. I wish i could go back there again.😔
There was one like this near Mount Rushmore. We last visited in the '90's. The last I heard, it had closed and was being re-developed into something else.
I vaguely remember going there as a kid. Sad to see the stuff we pestered our parents to stop at on road trips disappearing as no longer relevant. I can picture today's kids on a road trip, glued to a screen never begging to stop and see some tourist trap thus allowing Dad to cover as many miles as possible per day.
The open-faced building in the video was designated the "Bunny Ranch" and used to have live rabbits in it. From what I understand, it was too difficult to keep them safe from the local wild predators so the Bunny Ranch concept was abandoned. There was a small enclosure towards the front of the property to the left as you emerged from the gift shop that had live "goatasauruses" to look at. They were there up until the property sold as far as I know.
I think I must have been there in 2010 - we had a beer or two in the evening with the then owners‘ son and some of friends. Pretty unique insights in rural (if that’s the right word) USA for us Germans. We’ve been watching the rocky horror picture show in the bedrock cinema und took a ride in the train through the volcano. All in all pretty surreal experience in the middle of nowhere 😂. Early next morning my friend locked us out of our rental and AAA had to come rescue us 🙂 10/10 experience!
I went to the South Dakota one a few times as a kid as well. Even stayed at the campground once. Wish I could have made it back before it got torn down.
That was really cool to see Steve, thanks for the tour. The Flintstones night was a family night, McHale's Navy played the same night! I like to remind my father of when he enjoyed cartoons! Those were the good old days! But there were also abused blacks on my TV that I didn't understand!
Even though it's permanently closed in 2020 is this place still look like this with all the Flintstones structures or they getting torn down by the new owner
When we were there we we were told some of the structures are staying like the dinosaur slide, but I don't know how much. The Pebbles and Bam Bam statues were new and were told they'd stick around somehow too.
@@SidetrackAdventures it's a shame that kids might not remember The Flintstones but there's still Flintstones vitamins like I used to take when I was little and also the Pebbles cereals.
