That last minute on On Your Side works well when you start to realise what the song is about. A true horror and I love every bit of it. Their lyricallity is a breath of fresh air.
This is the first time I ever watched your channel bcs of this band and let me just say that I absolutely love your take on the album. It's obvious that you know what you're talking about and it changes a lot from most reactors? Like most of the time, they listen, they react a bit and that's it. And I honestly prefer your style, where it's like a podcast but the fact that we can see your faces and see how passionate you are and what you really think is absolutely awesome! I just HAVE to watch more of your videos!
These girls have videos posted of them playing gigs together from before being signed. One of their performances was captured by a great videographer and it was probably from there they were scoped by the label. They got together during the pandemic so they had plenty of time to get their shit together and to refine their style. Also if they were put together they would have a drummer... what label wouldn't get them a drummer. People nowadays are so bitter they can't enjoy talented people having success...
The album art comments are so good! People might not know a picture of the band is on there. I didn't know Florence Welch was on the Lungs cover. I thought it was just a painting. And Florence and the machine is definitely one of their influences so that's so cool!
You were pretty on the money when you said that Portrait of a Dead girl probably being a favourite of someone who's already been a fan of the band. For me I love it because it kinda feels like if Nick Cave wrote a queen song. Also side note. Just discovered you through this review and I can already tell that you'll become one of my favorites music review channels. Hope more people start discovering ya n.n
Thanks for explaining where the Industry Plant garbage came about. I guess I’m still living in the past world of live bands getting discovered by a label and introducing it to the world.
Loved your review, very detailed! People were quick to call them industry plants because they didnt focus on social media first and that's uncommon in today's marketing strategies. They're obviously talented and also know the right people. I'm excited to see what the future holds for them.
This was such a great review. Found a new favorite channel just like I found a new favorite band in The Last Dinner Party. Do have to disagree on "Portrait of a Dead Girl." Love the guitar rift at the end. Very Pink Floyd.
I will pull you up on one thing however: Portrait of a Dead Girl is an amazing song. I understand where you're coming from and you're absolutely entitled to your opinion... but for me it's a top-3 track on an album that literally bleeds awesome :)
Yous did a great job of breaking this down. Well thought out and very insightful! The only part I’d argue against is Demar’s take on Portrait Of A Dead Girl. The way that song builds up lyrically & musically to and through the “oh, anyone could kill me and I’d never, ever let it be you”; with the “give me the strength” plea and that wailing guitar - wow! Some other thoughts: 2:53 Yes! Just a band! Thank you!! Good discussion about the silly allegations. 16:27 I think you’re talking about the EBow that Emily (lead guitar) uses. 21:32 I wish more people were talking about & listening to Siouxsie! 22:47 don’t tell anyone, but I’m not either, and I agree about the grammy 28:09 this seems to be (mostly?) media-driven as the band has been pushing back against those headlines; another well thought out discussion, bravo! 53:11 the midnight black vinyl comes with a pull out poster that is just the photo of the band from the front cover
You guys need to review My 21st Century Blues-by RAYE album. She’s vocally one of the best nowadays. She’s a British/Ghanaian artist. She’s the first ever person to win 6 Brit awards in one night since 1977 and first ever woman to win song writer of the year. She’s written for Beyoncé and Rhianna. She was suppressed of creating an album by her last record label for 7 years and now she’s an independent artist and has won album of the year at Brit awards. So we’ll deserved. I heard her live and it was special. Her genres range from r&b, pop, jazz and abit of rap. You would be doing yourself a disservice not checking her music out !
That's not been in the studio yet. They're hoping to build in an extra verse with Snoop Dog. Think that would be awesome. Not listened to your review yet but I promise I will do.@AlbumMode
