John and Caine really trapped this guy perfectly. According to one of the rules of dueling, the party member is not allowed to fire another shot unless the other party fired their corresponding shot. So even if Marquis fired and killed John, he would have violated the rules and been killed regardless.
Caine's "Fuck off!" was always the best part of this scene to me. He knew his daughter's life was in the balance, and still showed absolute contempt to the one man who put him in that situation. Donnie Yen looked like he was having so much fun in this movie.
@@DamnMyNickIsTaken I think a fair criticism of John Wick 4 is that it was a tad too long, so I'll give you that one. However to call them "ridiculously bad fight scenes" is absurd, and clearly just an idiotic attempt to troll
@@EbonAvatar A tad too long? It could've easily been cut by an entire hour and would've been a better movie. They are bad fight scenes. Fight scenes that are short and intense are great. When it drags on too long you get bored. There was no escalation to that fight. It just dragged on and on and on. It was already too long even before John fell down the entire set of stairs and the whole thing essentially repeated itself for no real reason other than to make an already too long movie even longer. A fight scene that causes boredom is a bad scene, regardless of how good the choeography may be. There can be too much of something good. A slice of good pizza is awesome. Having to eat 3 whole pizzas will make you vomit, regardless of how good a single slice was.
@@DamnMyNickIsTaken Well you are the first person I've ever talked to who thinks the fight scenes in JW4 bad and boring. Guess they weren't to your taste but you are definitely in the minority on that opinion
John could kill him in one go. John's a marksman while Caine is a swordsman. John has the advantage. We've seen him killing a guy from a gun built on the spot@@charliethorogood3148
*I screamed "You bastard" in the theatre when he shot Charon, only time I had that kind of reaction in a cinema. I didn't know the actor had passed away in real life at this point so his death in the movie was shocking.*
Plan shoulda been obvious with John missing anything remotely vital on Kaine. That and the Marquis is forgetting that escape is a secondary objective to an assassin, the primary being the target's death.
John wanted to die a free man and be buried next to his wife. He knew that if he died while still under obligations to the High Table, they would've burned his body and thrown his ashes in the trash.
@@jmcsquared18 The ending was up to interpretation. But the canonical fate is that he is alive. The movie abuses a trope. If you don't see a burial it means he is alive. Plus the two people that know him are prominent to make him fake his own death
@@itsharibonph calling the use of a trope "canonical" is a hell of a stretch imo I think he's dead and I hope they don't bring him back in a later movie.
An essence of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (confirmed by the soundtrack added in the movie): The Good: Caine, who only wants to live with his daughter and end the constant killing. He just wants a peaceful life after paying the price of a violent one (his eye). The Bad: John Wick, who spilled blood in The Continental and does not want to deal with the consequences (death, but ultimately pays the price). The Ugly: The Marquis, who pitches Caine and Wick against each other to stage a win-win and loses everything due to an utterly selfish move.
Marquis would be the bad. Bad dies at the end of El Bueno, El Brutto, Y El Cattivo. Eastwood was the Good, Eli Wallach was the Ugly and Lee Van Cleef was the Bad. Van Cleef was the one who got killed during the standoff in the scene with the score of 'Ecstasy of Gold'.
@@dawntraveler42Ecstasy of gold is not the score of the duel. Ecstasy of gold plays when tuco is searching for the right grave about 10 minutes earlier. The duel has another score named the final or something like this.
The analogy doesn't really work. In the western it is a triel. 3 people with guns who have to decide who to shoot first. Here it is just between two until the end. Besides the name is more a joke because eastwood is not really good either.
I wanted to note something: since John hadn't shot, technically the opponents should not have approached each-other in the "increments of 10 paces till only one of them remains," the Marquis would have been screwed if he shot, screwed if he didn't shoot. on one hand, if he shot he would have broken the rules of engagement and most likely excommunicated from the high table. If he didn't shoot, john was an expert marksman at close quarters and full of rage. His face is the realization that he has been outplayed by Wick.
Oh what a tingled web when we practice 2D Steve. I have never seen the ending of this. I'll have to go back and watch the beginning. Thank you so much!
John Wick Chapter 4, Dune Part 2 and The Batman are most realistic, immersive, cinematic movies I've ever seen in movie theatre. These movies even felt more immersive than Avatar 2 in 3d.
They both tried to hit each other in the non-lethal parts of their bodies. You can see the same pattern in Chapter 3, when John shot the doctor at those same places
@@PaladinThizzdespite showing how skillful he was & killing 100's in his way so far you say he can't aim at still object that can't move but be placed at a point he knows it's entire aim points?
In this scene we see John spare Caine and use the arrogance the Marquis has to trick him into standing forward and resulting in being shot in the head.
interesting thing about the bullets, if you look closely, the last ones they were supposed to have fired at each other with are accentuated to be hollow points
Means the bullet will mushroom out on impact and cause more damage. So the final bullet would be most likely to kill if the previous two failed. At least that's how I think it works. Please correct me if I'm wrong
@@akhil108 In addition to being right that it would be more lethal as hollow point rounds are designed to have the tip of the bullet break upon impact, this is also designed for safety. At closer proximity, hollow point rounds spread internally rather than penetrate through. That said, these bullets were gigantic and none of it would have made a difference, but it's why - as one example - hollow points are safer for home protection because it reduces the chance of full penetration and collateral damage, encouraging the bullet to stay in its target instead. I'm no expert, but I believe this is also part of it!
When I watched this in the theater I was so distracted by the excitement that I completely missed that John didn't shoot... I was so sad knowing he lost... But when Winston told the Marquis he didn't shoot... I was just as shocked as The Marquis was🤣🤣😂
With a grateful heart, I wanna say thank you for your kind words. Your kind words attracted me. It's an honor entertaining you. Where are you texting from sweetheart
My first time seeing this. I enjoyed how Winston told John to “Just have fun out there.” Those are the same instructions I always gave my kids and grandkids before the start of whatever sporting event or contest they were in.
Liked the nod to the warriors movie also, with the DJ giving hints on to Johns location to prevent him from reaching his destination. Only needed the orphans to join in
OH My God I love this movie it shows the strength of a person that has that has determination to do the right thing regardless if it takes your life it's the most powerful beautiful movie I have ever seen❤
Anyone else notice that Cain and John shot each other in the exact areas that the Doctor in the beginning told John to shoot him for it to be non-lethal. Cain was never trying to kill John, it was all an act.
All the shots they hit are places where the doctor told John to shoot knowing he would survive. These two are skilled assassins and could land a headshot anytime they want. They specifically shot those places so they could kill Marquis
Could be just me that this scene feels like Sergio Leone spaghetti western movie vibe, maybe The Good, The Bad and The Ugly or Once Upon A Time In The West but I'm not sure
curious.. Is this a Key and Peele reference? if so, I heard it in Peele's voice. LOL ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1dWjKkF0Zi4.htmlsi=iX5xBYBXmIvFmHGT
Fun fact: Marquis’ father was actually a submarine captain by the name of Tupolev. When Tupolev died, the one next to him said, ‘You arrogant a**’. When Marquis found out, he fled to France, changed his last name from said man and became a high ranking member of the High Table. Cut to now, when he wanted to shoot John, Winston said to him, ‘You arrogant a**hole.’ Coincidence?
I only liked the first movie. It really felt like modern day hitman industry business... but later movies, it became dum dum. For some reason, snipers stopped existing since the first movie when there's a whole bounty on John. Plus, if there is a bit of sense with the antagonists... he would have shot John right then and there. 7:31 John : Conseque- Marquis: * Shoots *
"For some reason, snipers stopped existing since the first movie when there's a whole bounty on John." -> idk but since money is involved, proof that you're the one who killed Wick is required "Plus, if there is a bit of sense with the antagonists... he would have shot John right then and there. 7:31 John : Conseque- Marquis: * Shoots *" -> he was caught off guard, still processing what Winston is saying, not sure whether shooting him then would break the rules
@@AlvincoAetherlico Huh? even an amateur would be able to make that shot. It took actual 2 seconds before John was able to shoot. Any real person would react fast, especially against a known hitman. Also, clearly, you have no knowledge of forensics and investigation because that's how the CONTINENTAL would know who made the shot. In the first movie, there are two assassins that came after him, a woman and a sniper... So your logic already fell from there. Both of them using guns.
@@AlvincoAetherlico You acting as if the two assassins that came after John in the first movie tried to go after him without money involved. This goes to show how your memory is result of room temperature IQ.
@@reianvase6683 Bruh the sniper on the first movie isn't some random dude going after the open contract. Viggo especially talked to him. The sniper even asks Viggo that if the contract is open or exclusive. Viggo says that it's open. You know the rest, dude just helped John Wick. He seems to be a trusty friend, but during all of his encounters with John, there was somebody else attacking John. I mean he was watching John when he was sleeping at the hotel, he had no reason to think someone would attack him while he was in the hotel. So why was he watching him? That was probably the only chance he could say to Viggo that he took down John, without anybody else noticing or stealing his kill. And that only chance is ruined by the girl who attacked John in the hotel. So the sniper just decided to help John instead.
@@reianvase6683 A sniper going after an open contract doesn't make sense especially if the reward is high. Tons of different people going after the target. As a sniper if you want to claim the reward you have to kill your target and then also kill everyone who try to get the target's body etc. You can say they'll know by the bullet etc. but who'll get the reward if say, another assassin claims that it was the sniper who stole the kill, shooting only when they weakened or wounded the target? Or what happens if someone just shoots the target after they are already killed? As for John Wick, it's not only about the money / contract but they also want to be known as the one who killed John Wick.
I’m beginning to think there will be a 5th one because when Winston said “Just kill him” I think he was referring to the Marquee knowing full well he’ll be patched up and good to go afterwards
I really hope they bring John back somehow. But, what I want to see most is a prequel explaining how he got into the life and especially the "impossible task"
I don't know, I don't think John died. It seemed to me that he spoke to Caine before the last shot so Caine could get a decent estimation of John's position and where to shoot.
That seconds could have killed John Wick if he wasn't distracted by Winston. And Caine, Winston and Wick to himself have common minds to get rid of Marquis.
