Transmitted on BBC Two on 22/10/2012.
This was almost two weeks after the last BBC Two analogue signals ended.
Note:
The BBC Two testcard is displaying CEEFAX 1 and not CEEFAX 2 on the top line.
The page number 152 was also in red and not white.
The red 152 is replaced with 010 then 005, 003 and 001 as a countdown.
The only place you can view Ceefax is now in Northern Ireland on BBC One analogue until it ends on 24/10/2012.
Up to 5:20:37am displayed CEEFAX 2 (BBC2 Ceefax)
From 5:20:37am displayed CEEFAX 1 (BBC1 Ceefax on BBC Two)
Up to 5:47am 152 displayed, then:
5:47am = 010
5:52am = 005
5:54am = 003
5:56am = 001
5:57am = Ceefax replaced by a caption.
5:59am = BBC Two logo and announcement.
The second to last ever Ceefax testcard transmittion,

I remember this because I fell asleep during the Sunday night on the couch with the TV still on and waking up to this after 5am. I never realised I was watching a last moment in history until the end.

Seeing that "Thanks for watching" slide and the next continuity announcement saying "farewell and thank you" brings a tear to my eye. I'm only 30 but always found CEEFAX and Teletext so cool when I was a young boy. I remember seeing my grandfather using it on his early 80s model Grundig TV when I was about 4 years old, didn't quite know what it was, but it mesmerised me. I also remember seeing CEEFAX on BBC2 after closedown some nights and it just ran in-vision until programming started up again - this is what we see here. Such primitive technology could do so much. Nobody ever uses those crappy modern Red Button and Interactive services.

Something quintessentially British about Ceefax. I really miss coming home from the pub to listen to some mad Japanese jazz fusion, lounge jazz downtempo or classics such as BART. It got the subtle send off it deserved though, nothing over the top, just a very deliberate nod to the not-so-distant past. Quite sad but it's amazing it hung on as long as it did.
@candidshadowcollections6670
In italy we launched a decade later, but it's still going strong and used on national TV. Our private TV broadcaster--Mediaset--shut theirs down last year.

2023 and this still feels like such a loss, EPGs (electronic programme guides) always seem so slow and completely freeze half the time, and don't have even a fraction of the info Ceefax and Teletext had. It was our TV guide, our newspaper, our football news, and most of my childhood holidays were booked through it. Not to mention page 888 for subtitles when watching late-night TV. It was glitchy at times but it still somehow just worked. Digital is all or nothing, and when it's nothing, you're left alone in the dark.

It's good to see that Ceefax went out with a bang with the rocking tune Bart. I first came cross it in late 2009/early 2010 I think and I'd say it was one of, if not the best tune made for the entire Ceefax/Tradetest era. Pity the music won't be played on any service anymore. If you're looking to pull an all nighter now you'll have to put up with 3 hours of BBC News repeats. I wonder though if the actual teletext equipment is still in the hands of the BBC or if it's been scrapped. RIP Ceefax

I remember teletext was very hit and miss on analogue satellite TV, even with a strong signal. I've even teletext on old VHS tapes to date them, even though the screen is garbled if you persist it will usually clear the date if you're lucky.

It seems surprising now that Ceefax existed for so long alongside widespread home internet acccess. Having said that, I'm sure I continued to use it myself for years after I got online, and perhaps it offered services that the web didn't. It's easy to forget that the internet didn't spring up all at once, and in the early years was vastly more limited than it is now. One thing's for sure - it looks like the people who put these pages together actually took the trouble to proofread them. Compare that to the current BBC website, which sports glaring typographical/ grammatical errors on nearly every page!

Sadly, Teletext ended in 2012 when we switched from analogue TV to digital TV in the UK. The BBC replaced it with a text/red button service. (Like Teletext, higher quality graphics and pages with video) but not so many pages. ITV also did a text service (no videos) but that ended after just a few years. Channel 4 and Channel 5 ended Teletext when they went digital in 2012. The BBC tried to close the text/red button service one or two years ago, but as some wanted it to continue it continues, but with just a few pages. News headlines, weather and one red button (video) stream. text/red button is on Freeview and Freesat (satellite) but not with Sky (satellite) with new Sky boxes. You can still get the subtitles page (Page 888) thou with some programs on some channels on satellite. You need to connect the satellite box to the TV using the UHF aerial socket, then on your TV select the analogue input, press Teletext and enter 888.

I think from memory when using Teletext, the page number was displayed in white when the page had loaded, but when you enter (type in) a new page, it was displayed in yellow until the page was found. But depending on the make of your Teletext TV it could be in some other colour. The BBC had replaced the page number with a count down number and displayed it in red with this testcard.
