the understanding in Trico's eyes when the kid sent him away is more gratifying and heartwrenching than any of the other possible endings to this game. They could've had him stay, they could've had him killed, they could've never gone back to the village in the first place!! But the bond between those two was strong enough that Trico understood that when the kid sent him away, it wasn't out of fear or anger. It was out of love.
Someone once said on a video like one of these that Trico's eyes, to them, said exactly that and then some. "I understand. Thank you for everything. I love you" And now I'm crying all over again.
HELLLLOOOO DID NOBODY NOTICE THE END SCENE Trico was with a baby! For those that didn't see it just wait past the credits and it'll come on. There is two sets of eyes, one green and another faint pair and a baby sound.
The implication though, is that he found the Mirror, spent the whole afternoon telling the children Trico's story (which half the village probably knows by now), then the kids when out with him to the field to see if they could use the Mirror. As in, that wasn't a spur of the moment gesture, they were actually trying to summon Trico.
@@drakelardoh They found it during the day (perhaps during sunset, judging by the lighting) and the scene where they use the mirror is at night. So there was definitely some time between their finding it and their using it.
The Sequel to this is Shadow of the Colossus i think. And the Sequel to that is Ico. Now they are not all connected directly, but if you look closely and pay attention, there are some hints, that there is a slight connection between those.
I don't think the other Trico died when they fell. Our Trico fell from WAY higher when he kidnapped the boy and he got out of it hurt, but alive. Maybe the falls were able to shake them free of their mind control?
Pretty sure they all died since they were tied to the tower through the helmets/horns and it's mind control. They obviously couldn't survive the shock of their controller dying and it's death caused all tied to it to die too. That is why they showed the other one that had lost it's helmet as being alive and not just going nuts and dying.
@Flingfire Dragon, What are you talking about? Every animal needs the opposite gender to reproduce. Also birds. Just because chickens lay eggs does not mean those are fertilized. If there's no rooster, there won't be chicks in the eggs. Also, it's not confirmed whether Trico is a girl or a boy.
Schainukan, technically... Fling's right about one thing. Almost all the lizards reproduce asexually and ARE female. There's only one lizard we know of that doesn't reproduce asexually. Heck, hammerheads and parasitic wasps, too. Trust me, there's way more animals than I just said that reproduces asexually.
it's kind of a weird feeling isn't it? i remember having the same feeling after beating Assassin's Creed Black Flag, the ending was so bittersweet and yet i loved it as much as it bore a hole in my heart. if nothing else that's a defiant sign of a good game, any game can leave you with a sense of accomplishment or happiness that it's beaten but very few are the ones that can leave one with such feelings
All of this just made me want to escape to a world where beautiful creatures like Trico existed and that I had similar thrilling experiences even though it’s fictional, the emptiness I feel after playing this is that I’ll never experience the same emotions or adventure that I got from this game. It makes me contemplate how most people in real life are completely devoid of love and loyalty. How even videogame characters have more likable qualities than most people, which is sad.
LOL! I thought the same but way earlier!! I really thought Trico is going to die at the End, cause it "would fit" in a Friendship Story ._. Glad that it didnt happened!
I would honestly call this game a masterpiece. Its graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is fun and intriguing and the story is just a roller coaster of emotions. The ending did actually make me cry, which is something very few games can do. You build up such an emotional attachment to Trico, that there was no way I couldnt with that ending. I expected nothing less from the creators of SOTC and Ico. This game is truly a work of art.
It's not a masterpiece because of game's flaws regarding its mechanics, poor camera adjusments, Trico bugged sometimes. I mean, playing the game from the beginning to the end is a pain in the ass. You get frustrated 100 times because of its flaws. Now, regarding the idea of the game, its story, then you could say it's a masterpiece. Trico is absolutely fantastic.
@Harley Quinn Did you even read what I said or are you just a simpleton? You would be shocked reading IGN's review of this game. Compared to that I was very nice on my "micro-review".
@@realityn9829 Of course you can argue that it had its flaws, which you pointed out and were quite apparent in the game. There is no point in denying them. But, here is where I deviate from your train of thought. Games are all about what they make you feel, you might have been frustrated, I was enamored and felt connected to Trico, the world and its mysteries. When the game clicked, it did a marvelous job at it. Trico was just mind blowingly well animated that it looked like it was 100% real. I loved the concept of having a companion you are dependent on and vice versa. And like the original commenter said, it's a roller coaster of emotions and despite al the flaws it has, I and many others consider it a masterpiece. We can all respect each other regardless.
17:01 Trico's heartbroken face. I just lost it there while looking at Trico fly away.... Now I'm never going to have that Trico even if I replayed the game because he won't be the same...
13:33 He also look like he's crying here. (If animals can cry...But Trico was more of a magical creature more than än animal so I guess everything is possible)
you came here to to know the ending just because you couldn't wait for jack to finish it? but still wanting to see his way of reacting to it the reason i came here was because one guy spoiled in the comment section that barrels were babies i could not restain myself from coming and seeing as to why and how i think even if i see this a second or a third time it will still boil up feelind=gs inside me that endin
You don't know but the light of the mirror/shield having that circular effect around the screen suggests that somehow the boy's feelings reached Trico. It is absolutely possible that one day Trico flies back to the village, this time welcomed with open arms now that the boy has told his story, and he meets him again. The good thing about an open ending such as this one is that you can think up just about anything and nobody can tell you that you're wrong.
This game should’ve been nominated for the Game Awards the year it was released! It deserved greater recognition than it got back then. If only, if only . . . 😒🤷🏾♂️
I should have watched past the credits. I cried so hard seeing Trico attacked, then leaving the boy at the village. Greatest, most emotional game I've ever played. I want more!
Just played through The Last Guardian. Fumito Ueda has outdone himself here. Takes the companionship of Ico while building upon it and using the scale of SOTC. Absolutely brilliant! The ending too. The feels!!
Trico died :/ The 2 pairs of eyes at the end were the female monster you see on the tower near the end and the baby of Trico and that female. If Trico were alive then there would be 3 pairs of eyes ^^
Everytime i watch the ending I think about the fact that the story is over. The story of the game is over. 6+ years this was made. And we finally got to the end. Where? The first thing we see in the original trailer.
i was sorried that trico dies at the end since i first knew this game, knowing the sad endings that this guys make, but at least they are both alive n.n
Are we sure that they die? (except for the ones that were flying, that is). I thought they were just disoriented because... you know... whatever is commanding them stopping working/only feeding static.
maybe was a faint, i hope it was a faint, i don't want them to die when they just got freed from this , but in the end it appears that only trico and the other man eater survived and maybe had a baby... that scene looks like they are the only tricos existing now
Maybe Trico opened his eyes at the cave because he felt the energy of the mirror and understood that his old pal is alive and still remembers him. Maybe he stopped by for a visit after that. We don't know, but you could imagine things happened this way.
I think the other Trico's survived. They were just disoriented and confused when the entity's hold on them broke, which is why they fell off the tower. Trico has shown us that his species is resilient. He's fallen off multiple things and been attacked and lived through all of them. I like to think Trico went back and bred, but also maybe that he taught the others to fly as well. c: Maybe he even returned to the village and the grown up boy got to meet his babies.
The amount of times I stopped playing this game because I just couldn't get through the game mechanics or AI. Well, this month I finally persevered, and I'm so glad I did play this through to the end. It actually turned out to be a very good game and trico absolutely pulled on my heartstrings. I may attempt a platinum.
The creatures movement in this game is amazing and realistic! Looks like a CGI for movies. So rare for a game to have this, but so glad they made decision to do it so. Like the movement of creatures in SOTC too. This, Shadow of The Colossus, and Ico are three of masterpieces of gaming history 🔥👏🏻
I just realized something, those barrels where made of human, that's why Trico loves them. You can tell cause when they put those humans in the bird, it shot out a barrel
+Lily Flower What part did you hear the screaming? I completely missed those parts but your idea is really interesting! I wouldn't have ever come to that conclusion but that does make sense
Cara ridículo é a tua vida, se você não faz Mini idea do que é programação de um vídeo game fique Calado não vem pro RU-vid pra falar as suas merdas de "Haters".
I find it interesting how the group that is always against the forces of Dormin is represented by birds and anything that is related to Dormin either has horns or is black with a blue glow.
There at the beginning, when you have to tell Trico to fly off the building? When I played, I had the terrible feeling that it was the calm before the storm, and it would be one of my last moments with him. So, before I told him to fly, we just sat there in the sun, me patting his head while he took a nap. Something about that scene was so dang beautiful, that’s some of the realest emotion a game has ever made me feel. I got SO ENGAGED with this virtual animal, I made the choice to just take in the moment and let him rest. Good lord what kinda power does this game have!? XD
oh my god just seeing how trico is getting torn apart and right before 12:00 when they show a close up of his totally effed up face. it makes me want to cry!!!!
One of a few game that made me cry like a little baby, this is not a game, it’s a beautiful tale of courage, desperation and friendship. The technical issues don’t bothered me. Masterpiece.
The secret seen made me cry! It's very important to the game. Now we all know, that their might be a game with baby flying turkey sausage or just a second game.
I really do think Trico is still alive at this ending; I really don't see why the creators of this game would put that pair of eyes lighting up in the darkness there if they didn't want us to believe it was him. Sure he had a mate of whom he had the mini Trico with but maybe she was just off screen at the time and the creators of this game wanted to just show us that after all the injuries Trico received during the game he is still alive and well with a baby of his own, just the same as with the boy being a grown man and having his own children!
@@megchapman3776 also if you hold the circle button down during the scene where the Tricos' eyes show, Trico's horns will light up as well, confirming it's the same one!
It gets even sadder when you realize Trico wouldn't be able to stay even if the villagers allowed it. As far as we know, the barrels are the only thing Trico beasts eat. Even if they could find another food source, it's unlikely that such a small village would be able to produce enough food to satisfy Trico's appetite.
The way it ended was for the best... Now the mirror will be the key for both to see each other again after a long time.... What a wonderful sight that would have been, but it was left to our imagination.
I strongly disagree, because it tells the story and sets the friendship of the boy and the beast not via cutscenes or dialogue, but by gameplay and mechanics, interaction that only exists in the medium of video-games. I would call a movie disguised as a videogame something like the last of us, that has more uses of cutscenes and dialogue, that brings it closer to a movie.
I couldn't bring myself to play the end up until now. I think we all knew what would happen. God damn. Brutal. The bond that was felt. You felt like you had that bond with Trico. This transcends a masterpiece. A complete and total loss for words watching both endings. Underrated doesn't define.
I was a big shadow of the colossus fan, so i bought this game as soon as it was annouced. Playing this made me feel so good, it was like a redemption. I cried a lot when i finnished it, specially after the last scene, when you discover that turico is alive and fine. To this day i cry everytime i see this ending. What a masterpiece!
If you press and hold the shield button right before the pair of eyes come up at the end, you see the figure on the right has horns that glow like Trico.
I think I know why they called it the last guardian, because you can clearly hear a baby in the ending. Meaning that baby would be the last of their kind. How sad! Why did they make such a sad game omg
Your not going to believe this, but on my second play through a third set of eyes appeared. Watch for it! The eyes are much smaller than the first two sets and they appear directly in between the first two sets. The eyes open and the head turns left and then right during the tiny trico chirp sound. At first I thought they were fire flies or flickers of light flying around as seen in the ending, bet then they moved and opened and closed. I didn't realize they appear on the second playthrough until I couldn't see them on this vid. If I am seeing things then feel free to let me know, but I swear I saw baby trico eyes my second playthrough! great game great vid!
Anyone notice that at 11:20 the door seems to rumble as if its going to open ? It looks like its the spiral staircase with the pond in shadow of the colossus, there's even the pond there. And think about why cut to this while there is something important.
don't spoil it for him please i want to see him react to the games beauty without being spoiled :) oh one guy spoiled in his comments already about barrels being babies.... hopefully he won't see it it was in the more comments of the top comment
You get so attached to trico and have this bond with him. The hardest part is watching him get ripped up and I didn't know what to do, so I jumped into the void. And then when were unconscious, my buddy takes off before I can say anything.
@@SwedishBroManDude they don't do sequels and Sony doesn't want any games from them anymore, not after all the time and money they spent to release this game.
The only thing that made me cry more than the game's finale, were the game's goddamn slippery ass controls. But man, I could NOT handle Trico being mauled by the mind-controlled bros. TOO MUCH.
