Why do Xbox fans always write negative comments about sony games lol. It's just gaming not a competition. Unless you got stocks in Microsoft then you should feel threatened by playstation...

It's unbelievable really. That 2 games that no one thought were ever coming out (FFXV and TLG) came out in the same year both turned out to be amazing games

Why nowadays are all GameSpot reviews better than IGN's?

I'm sure that the people who is bashing this game didn't ever played Ico or Shadow of the Colossus.

Damn this review was a polar opposite of the IGN review. As the IGN reviewer kept complaining about the camera and how Triko was not listening to his commands. This guy focused on what the game did good and only that.

Why is that creature highly detailed even every single fucking feather moves in real time according to wind and the boy looks like an npc from 2006 video game?

This is exactly what I was expecting, you either love it or hate it, nothing in-between. Ratings range from abysmal to masterpiece, we rarely see that 😁

At least this year was great for gaming Uncharted 4, Doom, Titanfall 2, Overwatch, Dark Souls 3, Dishonored 2, X Com 2, battlefield 1, Firewatch, FFXV, and now The Last Guardian. Its great to be a gamer right now looking forward to 2017.

wow..microsoft needs to work on their exclusive...ps4 gets the last guardian, ni oh, persona 5, horizon zero dawn, and soon last of us II, death stranding, and god of war 4. so many more in the future....xbox? anything after GOW4? hardly touch my xbox now.

My friend is bringing his Ps4 so we can play it. I'm letting him use my steam account to play overwatch and my other games while i enjoy this. see doesn't matter what console you have if you like the game you'll find a way to play it.

This is one of the most beautiful games I ever seen in my life. And Tricois one of the best NPCs, I ever seen in a game. I dont see such a good NPC companion since Elizabeth from bioshock infinity.

Remember when IGN had less views than Gamespot? But the Gamespot changed its web site and alienated their older audience and now they half the views of IGN. Haha yeah, good times.

For everyone that wants a real perspective. This game deserves a 8/10 because it has issues like camera controls, normal movement controls and some clunky stuffbas well, however is still a pretty good game

I still can't believe this game is actually out. This thing has been in development for like almost a freaking decade, and from what I've read, it's actually pretty good. Which really surprises me considering that games that are infamous for being in development hell usually turn out to be junk like Duke Nukem Forever.

Glosses over the fact the framerate on base PS4 is horrendous, it's not even a consistent 30fps. Drops to like 20fps and hovers around 25fps most of the time. Utterly unplayable. On the Pro you can choose between 1080p and better framerate (but still only 30fps) or 4k and a framerate much like the base PS4.

Tricos often slow response to my commands actually made him feel real to me... I know it annoyed some people but I have no problem with it

It looks to have all of the care and attention to detail that Team Ico are famous for. I think it looks pretty great and i'll be picking it up on Friday when it comes out in the UK. Can't wait!

there are types of people when it comes to this game 1. people who it as one of the greatest games ever 2. people who are not even sure if it is a game or not.

I haven't play the game, but it looks like IGN Focus more in technical aspects and Gamespot in the experience, for me if a game is that strong and can make you "forgive" or even ignore this technical things, the game is worth it. I used to only see ign reviews but now, I have found several times that Gamespot match better with the things I like in a game

Fucking 9 yes, I'm hyped thought it was gonna be rough when I saw IGNs 7!

Well, everybody is talking about the camera and control issues, but nobody seems to remember that SotC had similar problems and that didn't affected too much the overall experience. In the particular case of the camera, SotC camera was weird and interesting at the same time. The engine was coded to always try to create aesthetically complex angles to create awesome compositions with the camera in real time. It worked really well most of the times, but some times, especially with indoor combats, the engine failed to decide how to position the camera while compensating for the colossus' excessive movement and wall and ceilling collisions at the same time. It was the price to pay for a dynamic AI controlled camera. For what I'm hearing and reading it seems that TLG went for a similar approach. If that's the case, then yes. The camera IS weird, but it was design with the goal of creating some beautiful shots as well. In SotC I did had some frustration with the camera, but it wasn't a constant, and the shots it created when it worked are still tattoed in my memory. I didn't played TLG yet, so I can't express an standalone opinion, but if this is the approach they took (which is most likely), then the frustration will come more from a lack of custom to this unorthodox camera design (I don't know about other studio with this particular approach to camera controls) that from a bad design. Something similar happened with SotC and its horse controls. They are maybe the best and most accurate horse controls in the history of the medium, but its unorthodox approach cost it a ton of critics.

Yes! This is well said. The type of "game" that ICO, SotC and TLG were are an "acquired taste." Just like how there are games that use a single button and ones that have no story. These games use a certain dissonance between the player and the world they've been invited to explore. You're not given responsive control, all the answers (even at the end), the most intentionally cooperative AI or even gameplay that is very clear. You are simply a single guest in Ueda's games. It's not your typical game franchise where the world gives you all the power and control you demand to get what you want out of it and that understandably bothers a lot of people. As someone who wants to be an animal trainer someday, it's a similar feeling of reward when you figure out how to communicate or translate your intentions with Trico. It wants to constantly remind you that you're not only element at play in the game with its own mind.

A '7' is not a bad score. Average scores are good for estimating what a game may be like, but at the end of the day reviews each have their own opinions on a game. Also because someone doesn't agree with your opinion doesn't always mean that they're wrong or stupid.

Ok 1, the graphics are purposely stylized. 2. I can't believe people actually bash this game (aside from sometimes awkward controls), if you actually don't have the patience to play a great game like this, do everyone a favour and go back the infinite warfare.

I really hope they make a second follow on game. Maybe them meeting together after years apart and you play as trico trying to leave the area again and finding his way to the village. :)

If I wasn't a fan of Shadow of the Colossus due to seemingly unresponsive at times controls and frustrating setbacks due to things that don't feel like my fault (i.e. losing my stamina when there's seemingly no place to replenish it), would it be possible to like The Last Guardian?

This has been in development processes for like 10 years, I'm pretty sure I still have a game informer magazine in my closet talking about this game in 2008 lol

So a game with bad controls, camera, and broken mechanics gets a 9 because it's pretty and has a heartfelt relationship between boy and beast. Even going as far make excuses for the bad mechanics. I wanted this to be good, but most of the good reviews it's getting seem to be derived from nostalgia of Ico, and clouded by the charm of the game.

After playing 4 plus hours and being a huge Team Ico fan... honestly this game is 7 to 10 years too late. Its good at best, and thats only if your a fan. Hate on this comment all you want but its the truth. Play it first to form your own opinion... then be honest with yourself." #RealTalk

the game is fantastic but BEWARE, the trico can be so unresponsive to the point of making the game unplayable. Nevertheless, this title will be remembered and referenced for years to come

Just finished playing through The Last Guardian and.............WOW!!!! An absolute masterpiece!!!

The Last Guardian is a great game. I know people always talk about it's flaws. Yes it does have some but it's minor. Don't let that keep you from playing this game. it's unique. definitely one of a kind. Only thing i wish was that you could go back and play certain parts of the game. But whatever. Go get it if you are interested plus i think the price went down at best buy

tbh team Ico's games' have always had a moderately wonky camera and frame rate issues so i totally anticipated that in this game lol

I haven't played this game yet; but, just from looking at it and how it plays, it really is a special addition to the evolving video gaming industry. 9/10 would seem fair to me. Ueuda has been one of my favorite video game designers and artists in video gaming history. I hope this game will solidify his presence in the industry and help him make a game that he has more control of.
