The Last I made a Pretty Card & Storytime, 2 Cards with the Same Products: Your Opinion Please 

First, thank you for asking. Personally, I miss those early videos you did. They were my favorite. Your talent is immense, and you have a gift for sharing that talent and showing us how to be better and improve our skills. Story time brought a human element to the experience, and we left feeling like we knew you and your family, and we enjoyed hearing about the things that filled your life. It encouraged us to share our own experiences. And you did it all in a reasonable time frame. I am not a fan of all the lives that are so common these days because they are so long. I just don’t have time to watch them all. I love that you are considering bringing back your original format. Story time did not detract from the instructional element - it enhanced it.

Storytime is one of the reasons why I watch your videos and your teaching style is one of my favorites. I watch all of your videos and I enjoy hearing about your life and family. Also my coloring has improved a bunch from watching your videos.

I loved when you were telling a story and then, "Oh, back to the card...." and then back to story time. For me, i love the swapping back and forth. A definite yes from me!

Back to the Kelly we have all loved to learn from and hear from. Also more COPIC coloring. So many are going to OLO Markers now and that’s not an option here financially. I have built my set of Copics and need to utilize what I have. I understand a lot of people seem to like OLO’s better, and that’s great. They seem wonderful. Just don’t forget us COPIC viewers who love to learn still. Thank you Kelly for always being up front and caring about others. Don’t lose who you are, it is never worth it. Kelly I have been following you almost from the beginning of your channel. One of the reasons is story time. I love your story time. I originally came to your channel for the copic coloring help. Turns out I got more than I was expecting. I understand that some videos allow more time for story time and that’s okay. It is fun to hear how your kids are growing. I even got a kick out of hearing your Walmart grocery challenges.

I like story time. You're a great teacher. I'm a paraplegic. My car was totaled and I can't afford a modified car, so I'm 58 and stuck at my home, which I'm thankful for, but it's not a good situation. I'm too young and if I could go to help put my grand kids on and off bus, and take myself to doctor's appointments, it would be a blessing to my whole family. So I like storyline and watching how you color. 🎉

Your story times are always great to listen to and I'm always glad that you come back to the card when needed to as that's the main reason I watch your videos. I'm learning along with everyone else. You're very talented and always the first I'm looking forward to watching whenever you post a video. It's maybe understandable that you don't share as much about your family as you had been. Families grow and change. But, everything you share in making your videos like talking about your friends who are also artists or helping someone in need as you've done before. Things like that are just as interesting. As for the idea for classes, this is a great idea for you. I'll be right along with you when I'm able to be. Money being what it is, I'm sure you understand. But, you do you. Do what makes you happy. The rest of us will keep up as we're able. You have a great plan for moving forward. Go for it. 😊

I saw a video you did for Honey Bee and loved your Copic coloring. I started following you and having been going through all of your videos to learn new techniques. Stories with you is one of the things I loved about you in the beginning as well as you did the style that I loved and your one layer scene cards. I love your teaching style too. Your videos should be what works for you. If someone doesn't care for storytime, they can mute the sound. I watch your videos because I love your coloring and enjoy you. I’ve really missed regular story time with your videos. I’m glad you are planning to go back to your original format. There are so many folks doing videos on crafting and card making…the reason I started following your channel was because story time was unique to you. I’ve learned many things from watching you color and design cards and I was entertained by you too. As for content suggestions…I’d really like to see more ways to use floral stamps and dies…like this video showing 2 different ways to arrange the same florals.

I’m older & I’m not in a position where I can spend money right now so I’m sorry I can’t participate. I really enjoy watching your channel, you have so much talent! My husband was in the hospital four weeks & now is in a Rehabilitation Hospital for I don’t know how long & these videos are my escape from the stress & overwhelmed feelings I have been living with! Story time is the reason I found and fell in love with your channel. I’ve been paper crafting since I was pregnant with my oldest son, he turns 27 next month. I used to teach scrapbooking and card making since the late 90’s and I honestly don’t even really like to color. What I’m getting at is that 12 years ago I had an accident. What was supposed to be just a badly sprained ankle turned into 15 surgeries over 10 years and it has just progressively gotten worse. I’m essentially bed bound these days because of my hips and back and honestly can’t even craft at all anymore. Watching your channel and listening to your stories reminds me of hanging out with my girlfriends every Friday night and just catching up with each other. It helps me forget the absolute crap show I’m dealing with (sorry, I’m sobbing now). Kelly, just be YOU. Tell the stories of your life, good or bad, no Kelly’s Critter Cottage needed. Though, it did make for hysterical stories. 😂 PS, what happened to your jewel picker?!

I love your videos and rarely miss one. Story time is great (except when it’s about 🤮). I also love the instruction. You do a very good job balancing both imo. Regarding ideas I’d like to see….i personally love when creators show 3-4-5 different uses for products. I love when something “old” is pulled out and used again and again. It doesn’t matter if it’s still available or not. I probably can figure out a substitution and that sparks my creativity. But I know YTers are trying to sell new things to make money. I’ll watch anyway.

I love watching your videos with story time plus you always stop to explain things your doing please don't stop.

Well. You asked for feedback and I have thoughts. Firstly, I took your Altenew class back in 2019 or 2020 so, based on that experience, which included NOT having a lot of the supplies you used (and not having the $ to purchase the “right” stuff), I can 100% say that working in a class like that may require compromises and creativity but it can still be worthwhile. I specifically remember one of the class modules where you did copic colouring inside a striped stamp. I didn’t have that stamp but I did have, I think it was an HBS stamp, that gave me a few differing stripes but was thin, it wasn’t a background stamp like the one you used. So I repeatedly stamped the same stamp to create a similar-ish background. In hindsight it would have been quicker to just get a ruler and pen and draw lines but I was still learning stamping so it was probably good experience. And I learnt from that specific class and moved on. I always meant to return and rewatch that class but never got around to it. I don’t think I’d do a class like that now because it was so beginner level but it was good. I have huge issues with live classes from the US. They’re usually in the middle of the night for me, so I don’t even try. Also I’m not a huge fan of watching live because the demonstration tends to be slow. When I watch a lot of RU-vid crafters (except yours, you’re special!) I usually increase the speed, and I definitely increase pre-recorded lives to the maximum speed on the rare occasion I watch them. And I often “scan” the videos by moving the cursor on the bar to the bit I am particularly interested in. Like, for example, if there’s a “sneak peek” live and I’m interested in that company’s product, I might scan HBS’s video at the start (Kelly shows the previous cards from the previous sneak peeks at the beginning) then I skip through the process to the end. If I want to learn a particular technique, I might stop and watch in 1:1 speed. However, after saying all that, it’s probably important to note that I can’t watch videos while crafting. I’m vision impaired so when I’m watching RU-vid I have my “close” glasses on and the screen is maybe 1 and a half handspans from my nose. If I’m crafting, my ipad needs to be further away so I can craft and not have an accident that might damage the ipad, so I can’t see the screen. Others obviously don’t have that problem. Regarding kitting: why don’t you work with companies? You can rotate around a few companies, get them to make the kits, there’s a list so people can either buy a kit or buy the things in the kit they need, and you don’t have to do ANY of that stuff. I’m sure the companies you work with now would be falling over themselves to get in line to do the kits. I like storytime. When I first started following you I lived interstate. In 2022 thanks to HOA bullying because they didn’t want a disabled woman living in their housing estate (despite hubby & I OWNING our house) we left. That city was mostly housing estates so moving elsewhere in that city was pointless, I expected more of the same. So we moved interstate and rented. And, more recently, we bought a house. Since moving in here we’ve discovered the fire wall doesn’t meet minimum standards, the builder won’t fix it, yadda yadda, basically life is sh*t. Add to that, I can’t walk to the train station because the road isn’t safe. Before we put a deposit on this house, we were told the road would be upgraded this year. That was a lie. So I can’t walk to the train, the library, because I can’t get home safely. Yesterday I had to go into the city and I ended up waiting in a cafe for about 3 hours for hubby to finish work so we could come home together. So watching your videos is one of the few things I do that feels “social”.

I always liked “story time” … you are a good story teller, Kelly. With lessons, it does not matter to me which format you do. I would think LIVES would be hard to be as succinct as you would want as I guess they would be longer videos? Do what is easier for you … I’m sure if subscribers don’t like it they will let you know soon enough. (As I am in Canada, the Mystery Boxes don’t apply.) BTW, these were lovely cards as usual! 😘❤️🇨🇦

I love your decision to go back to the way it was in the beginning. I have learned SO much from you but I have also laughed and cried with you during videos. It makes a connection. So when I got to meet you at NCR, it was like meeting an old friend. I am excited to have the opportunity to take classes too!

I like storytime. I am pretty new so I have only heard about your son's promotion. Made me reminisce about my own kids' 6th grade graduation. I do love the coloring instruction too. I am trying to learn to color better. I also would prefer a live class, but not sure if I can afford it.

Yes!! Way to embrace your talent -coloring and teaching with what actually sets your channel apart and makes you different from everyone else-story time!!! As far as the class goes I really like Jenn Shurkus format for classes which are done live and and if watching later is just the live replay-not an edited version- so you still get to here the questions/answers in real time.

I like story time along with instruction. It’s nice to get to know you on a personal level through the stories you share. I say go for it! You have to stay true to yourself and do what makes you happy, and for those who don’t appreciate it, I wouldn’t give them another thought! I personally don’t like to watch channels that are to structured or sound to rehearsed. I want to watch relatable people that I feel I connect with in some way. 👍 for Storytime! It's what first drew me to your channel and kept me a fan for years. I'm old and have been card making and scrapbooking for years, so instructional videos for basic (to me) stuff don't interest me. I'm finding myself watching less and less videos fully, because once I see the card, I can pretty much recreate it with supplies I have. I need more than just instructions to keep interested. Other than most of your videos, I seldom not fast forward through videos or just watch a little of the beginning. I'm subscribed to over 100 craft channels, lately I just scan the video picture and only click on a handful of them. The channels who use a graphic video picture, I pass right by them. If there isn't a preview of the card, I don't go looking for it.

You are always the first channel I check to see if there is a new video. I love the instructional videos AND the story time videos. I just love watching you create and you are my favorite RU-vid creator! I have learned SO much in this industry from you and I have done this most of my life. Yippee, storytime again. Started following you a year or so ago, didn't enjoy storytime at first, but I guess like a soap one gets invested in the characters. I did think "I made a pretty card" was a good warning for the non storytime viewers. Not sure about the mystery boxes, think I'd want to know what my limited funds where getting me. Then there's that dredded overseas shipping etc. Leading on to classes... would love to follow along as you colour but would the stamps etc be affordable for UK if even available. Sorry so long, side note from the other day, lots of replies about Hero white spray found some as advised down to £12 its on my wish list. As I have not found anything else that doesn't take up the distress oxide background colours. So glad I discovered your channel and completely hooked on colouring now. Slowly improving.
