Even tho, the FULL Length REACTION to this episode went up last week onto Patreon, I wasn't able to edit this video until today, so it didn't go up onto Patreon Early Access, Sorry.. But TLK 2x1 & 2x2 will be up on Patreon Early Access and FULL Length before Monday, 20th!
If you didnt catch it the thing Guthrum said "it came as the priest said" remember Beocca screamed: "You will be struck down with my spear" Then Uthred kills him with Beoccas spear
Everyone was pissed off that Leofric died, but I honestly like it because it makes it clear that TLK is taking no hostages. When someone is in a situation where they can die, they might. Plus, TLK has many more great characters that you will meet in later seasons.
Nikolai Quack plus in the books he dies in the battle, towards the end when storming a fort held by the Danes in the area but it’s not included in the show
This finale is amazing, just wait until S2 and especially 3, it gets even better, the scene with Uhtred's son was incredible, the writing is that good in this show it makes me miss the old game of thrones writing
E Cording Just like the early season of Game Of Thrones this is adapted from books so of course the writing is going to be good you can’t compare this to Game Of Thrones now.
Omar_ Elattar. I mean he jumped over it with full of rage and cut down several men which isn't too unrealistic. Similar to the Dane who held a bridge from an entire Saxon army for hours.
Edgy Man What’s the point of a shieldwall if you can jump over it? And the worse thing about it is that they just watched him. They weren’t even trying to fight back or try to kill Uhtred. The killing of Skorpa topped it off for me because to kill him so easily, I didn’t like.
How is possible that I missed this ep.reactions... 😲 ...I just realized it by starting to waching todays LK...had to stop watching and go to fined this one ... Great is that I have more frim you for today to watch ❤
Guthrum actually did that in real life after the battle. Renamed Aethelstan, King of East Anglia. That's why I expected Jarl Borg's son Guthrum to become a bigger character in the show Vikings but, unfortunately for Guthrum, Hvitserk had something to say about that.
@@alexman378true Vikings was a phenomenal show but for a show that’s supposed to be airing on the history channel, they sure didn’t care about the actual history.
This show is the only show that can kill off beloved characters and still keep on getting better. RIP Leofric ❤️ I can’t wait until you get to season 3.
I always believed in earl guthrum's greatness , when he embraced another religion it didn't mean he was weak but he was strong , he found the missing piece that complete him .
Started watched this show about two weeks ago and was psyched you watch it to so naturally your reviews are now part of the full viewing experience!! Thank you! RIP Lieforic. Great 1 season character. Soooo glad Young Odda got it.
Leofric died in the book as well, it wasn't purely the decision of the show runners. And I think it's powerful that someone so important dies, it's realistic and gives this particular battle a lot of weight. These battles are deadly, in a sea of chopping blades, anyone could die at any time. Eventually even main characters will end up getting caught by an axe or sword.
Check your history. A battle changed Guthrum & he accepted Christianity. That altered the Danes for quite a while. Alfred the Great's story includes many of these real people in this show, including many of the events of his life.
Bernard Cornwell is a bad ass writer of Historical Fiction. This show is much closer to the events of history than The Vikings. Guthrum was a real Dane that invaded Wessex, drove Alfred to Marsh lands & then converted to Christianity & became Alfred's grandson after his defeat.
The novelist who wrote the novels this series is based on, Bernard Cornwell, is a friend of George RR Martin so that does make sense. If I remember right, this season was pretty faithful to the book.
GRRM actually tweeted about this show when only 2 seasons aired, he watched it and wanted a third season. If he enjoyed it you know it's a good series! I'm surprised this show isn't more popular considering how good it is.
Luckily I watched this show before GoT, and this made me interested in medieval themed shows and then watched Game Of Thrones because I liked TLK so much. Both great shows obviously.
Yusssssss! Here we go again ma brother! Loving your insights and how well you get it spot on, and when your miles off your just like fuck haha, I'm high
I quickly started finding peace with deaths of beloved characters (goodies or baddies), knowing that it opens the door for new bigger / better / flavour characters... always worth the transition so bitter sweet. And where Uthrid may seem to make it through much, the much is much loss & pain & struggle to the nth degree.
Season 2 is great and yes like others have said keeps getting better and better. He loved iseult she knew her own fate when Skorpa came for her she helped Uhtred Alfred and they saved Wessex. Leofric and Uhtred are the best sad he died.
You're getting too good at predicting plot points! ;) Still stoked that you're watching this series, it's really one that gets more and more quality as it goes along. Don't want to be one of "those" watchers/fans, but have you considered checking out "The Terror"? It's a great series, I got sucked into it pretty quickly. It's also notable for having actual indigenous actors in it from Nunavut, speaking Inuktitut (Inuit language). Great horror show (on Amazon Prime). Might be fun for just a regular watch, too, if you're not into doing a reaction series for it.
*The part where Uthred runs and manages to clear the shield wall + catch the spear + impale Skorpa with it + convince Guthrum that 'their God is with them'... pure adrenaline (or chills). That's when I realized that this episode is a masterpiece.*
Omg your probably the best channel i have seen for this sure i do my thing but watching this i need to step my game up I love the fact you have a natural way of talking about the series. I don't like Odda the Younger he sucks lol Im stoked for season 5.I have been a fan since the show came out i think people should watch Uhtred because unlike John Snow i feel like he will have a better end game. I also feel like Uhtred is doing all this work for a King Alfred when truly that had no control over Babbenberg, this is for the show because in real life it was not ruled by those out of Wessex _ Great Video i really mean that!
I get where you're coming from with the bromance between Uhtred and Leofric, but his death was in the book. Dunno whether loyal readers that watch the series would wear a major decision of Leofric being kept alive after the battle of Ethendun. Love your reactions on this, GOT and Vikings!
A lot of things that happen in TLK don't follow normal TV show character plot development - especially in the first series - as they come from the books. If you get the time, read therm, they're very good. In my opinion, Cornwell has only written one series better than this, the Warlord Chronicles. However, they will rip your heart out and show it to you.
Also, now that Game of Thrones is coming to an end, think about uploading TLK just a little bit faster. I read that they are almost done shooting Season 4.
I was one of the first who suggested you to start TLK back in your Vikings S5 finale reaction video. And you gave it a heart (which thank you again btw)! Now after S1 of TLK, how would you compare it to Vikings? Thanks in advance!
i hated Uhtred in season 1, one the reasons it took me so long to catch up, season 2 and 3 are a massive improvement Hopefully you get a Banshee reaction soon, love that show lol
I took it differently, that Iseult if she and Uhtred was not with the King they could have save Uhtred son but God had a different faith for Uhtred to be the one to save the King and his son. Since both babies must have been sick since in that time vaccines didn't exist, so only one could have been saved.
GOT has me watching like 3 other shows trying to get my fix over the years. Nothing is ever as good. I liked this show though. This one I stuck with for a bit.
It’s just too bad GoT fell off the way it did this season. Watched Vikings, TLK in the two years between seasons 7 and 8, and while I enjoyed the former more at the start, TLK has really grown on me the more I watched it. So stoked that TLK is back to filming once more. Onwards to season 4 arselings!
@@Rossstewart88 As in I didn't give up on it quickly as I did with others. But still have some watching to do. I think I have half a season left. My father got sick when I was in the middle of the last season and I just forgot about it. Gotta get on dat
@@FrizFroz Yeah I really don't want to get into a GOT debate. I do agree on 7. I hated it. 8, I'm not as in agreement that's its terrible, as alot are. And disagree with some arguments. And the fact it got piled on just made things get blown out of proportion. I respect your opinion though and I don't want to get into it honestly. I shouldn't even have gone that far. Lol. I'm exhausted from going back and forth on it. I still think it smokes most stuff. But yeah I have to get back on this show I stopped with some left to watch still. But I liked it more than I thought I would. Pretty good stuff. I have about half a season left as my father got sick I believe half way through 3, and I just got sidetracked with alot Idk with Vikings. I just couldn't get into it as much as some.
@@el34glo59 Oh no, I don't intend to debate about that either. I get that some people enjoy it for what it is. It's not as if the controversy over how certain resolutions were handled suddenly makes the entire franchise a wash, just the writing and dialogue isn't what has been, and being the biggest TV show in its final season brings it further under scrutiny. But of course, everybody has their own opinions about it. I hope your father is better now, god bless.
Spoiler Sad that Leofric died but it did lead to one of my favorite scenes where Uhtred is being tried or banished in public after Alfred dies and as he tries to defend himself he sees Leofric in the crowd and smiles and then uses what Leofric told him about Alfred to defend himself. Quality scene.
This season finale was great for the most part. The two things which really bothered me were the death of Iseult and Uhtred somehow becoming invincible. The battle was so good at first until Uhtred jumped over the Shield Wall and started killing the Danes when they just stood there watching him. The killing of Skorpa felt completely rushed too. I just think that scene was completely stupid and it ruined the battle for me personally. Iseult was also slowly growing on me and I started to really enjoy the character. To have her killed off was too quick for me and I liked the connection she and Uhtred had. Uhtred is basically like Bjorn when it comes to women, he may even be worse lol. I understand your frustration with Leofric’s death. His relationship with Uhtred is one of the best in the entire show including seasons 2 and 3 and his death did seem sudden. But we do need to remember that he was in battle and anything can happen. At least it was kept realistic. My only problem with his death was that I wasn’t emotional so i didn’t feel much when he died. Despite the things I didn’t like, the finale was strong for the most part. Definitely not amazing but enjoyable. The good thing is that season 2 is definitely an improvement to season 1 and I much prefer it. One character and actor I’d like to give props to is Alfred played by David Dawson. He is truly the only character who keeps me intrigued. Don’t get me wrong, there are other characters I like, but Alfred is fantastic and David Dawson’s portrayal is top notch. Great reaction as always man. Can’t wait for season 2 reactions!
What is your Discord name, I can't find you? I am watching Peaky Blinders right now while juggling your reactions again lol I am still in season 1 & haven't seen Jessie Eden yet, but I've seen David Dawson who plays Roberts. It's cool to see actors in TLK who have also played together n another show. I have also watched other Alexander Dreymon movies who plays Uhtred.
Last Kingdom might just be better than Vikings. I'm a huge fan of both shows, just to me it seems Vikings is just so all over the place whereas Last Kingdom just has a good flow, better stories and better acting.
better or worce ... she toled him she would be at his side till the end ... even the cene whilie shie has her first time, she tells him that he will get was was promesed to him, and he asksk if she would be with him ... and there is no answer ... impliging that she wishes do be apart, but she knowns, shes no part for his future
watching these reviews for the first time, a year later, because I'm withdrawing from TLK. I hated Odda completely and was so glad when his dad took care of business. Also this is making me miss Alfred so much.
