eadith has been phenomenal. helped aethelflaed escape, exposed her brother as a murderer to save the group, saved aelfwynn’s life, rescued the group when they were tied up, then volunteered to be the one to go into winchester. i think i love her.

Yes Sigtryggr is unlike any enemy they have faced, also very different from other Dan's and his cousin Cnut. He doesn't care for gold or silver, you can't buy him if u try he will kill you. Most of all he is very smart for his age. Destiny is all!

What's really goofy is this episode makes it clear that you can't just teleport past walls. Edward clearly is not getting in there. So the ease with which the Danes have just bypassed Winchester's walls on multiple occasions is just highlighted further. Not only this season, but also in season 1, they simply arrive and are inside the walls. There would be sentries, scouts, at the very least men in the gatehouse who could shut the gate. One of my least favorite things about an otherwise great show is the somewhat inconsistent battles and tactics.

@@johnnyskinwalker4095 This series is a historical fiction, it just plays around with history to fit the protagonist’s story! The real Uthred wasn’t even born during Alfred’s time, for instance. So yeah, Alfred, Edward, Athelflaed and Athelstan really did accomplish those amazing things without Uthred and were great in real life (in the true sense of the word). And I don’t think this event happened either. But I’m glad more people are researching these underrated English heroes and heroines, thanks to this series.

@@johnnyskinwalker4095 And even so, I’m still drawn to Edward’s character despite his flaws and mistakes for some reason. He is so compelling to watch, credit to the actor. 😜 Also, I think having his sons in Winchester would have made him behave more recklessly than usual. Who knows what the Vikings would have done to his sons and mother…remember Ubba and Ragnar the Fearless’s “men” in S1? They *were* heathens, Edward didn’t know what these Vikings were about, even though we as viewers know how reasonable Sigtryggr is…for a Viking anyway. Not to mention Edward in S4 is basically as hot headed as Uthred was in S1, that’s why I was shaking my head in disbelief at Uthred sometimes during the first 2 series.

Disturbing the dead is a tactic. Something to get into the head of the enemy so the fight can be potentially ended before it begins. Think deeper.

He got what is called a warriors death, the sword cuts right through the heart, and death is instantaneous.

having your heart stabbed is not an instantaneous death at all. i know TV and Hollywood made you believe so but it is wrong. can be shot in the heart and still life for 2 minutes and even more.

Edward was nothing like he is in this show in real life. I'm so disappointed that they wrote his lines like this different from who he was in history. He was young when he became King though which was 25.His wives in this show were really his wives in real life & in the same order, Ecgwynn, Elfflead, & Eadgifu with far more children than this show shows.

Its so weird because I'm related to King Alfred.😍😍 My Grandfather from the 1500s was the Vicar of the church that Utrad got his son from.. St.Wilfrids Church. My Grandfather son married the Great great great granddaughter of Richard duke of York. Edward IV Father. From this line I can trace my ancestors back to Alfred and Rollo. All the way passed Charlemagne.😍😍😘
