going out as a spit-shined babyface is kinda cliche if you think about it. i can't think of too many guys that went out as a son-of-a-bitch heel. Lethal and Jarrett aren't in the wrong here.
Flair wouldn't have it any other way. He was a born heel. Flair looked like microwaved 🐶 💩 in the ring but he made an absolute fuck ton of 💰 from this match.
Jeff is killin it. Hell, they all are. Honestly, when AEW was first announced, and I saw how they built the Cody vs Dustin match, with a focus on storytelling using as much reality as (as well as fan knowledge of the history of those 2 wrestlers) possible as a foundation.... that's where I thought storytelling in wrestling was going. Billy Corgan was taking a similar approach to build up the NWA Cody vs Aldis stuff he had been booking. Then it all kind of faded away. I hope someone with some pull in a wrestling company picks up on how effective this is.
did you see the great work MJF and CM Punk recently did a few months ago in AEW? They built their story up very well. MJF is like the modern day Flair heel.
@@Gary828 nah anything with MJF feels so forced to me there’s no organic feel to him…these old timers don’t even have to try and it’s convincing as shit
This is really really good. This is 50 times better than anything that WWE or AEW is doing. I am so captivated watching the storylines and the build up to this match. It feels so real and personal. It makes me can't wait to see the match. I love it. This is what sports entertainment wrestling should be like.
@@terranceburrs5832 No this is Pro Wrestling this is how Pro wrestling use to be in the 80s and 90s before vince called it sports entertainment...angles like this were happening in every wrestling territory
@@DarkLordofTheSith69 this is the proper way to do sport entertainment. How they are doing this storyline and incorporating real elements. It's like watching a good soap opera. This is Attitude Era level stuff. Watching wrestling in the late 80s and 90s prior to the Attitude Era, wrestling was not this level good to me. Wrestling characters had more cartoon or comic book style gimmicks. And I'm talking about the major promotions WWE and WCW.
@@terranceburrs5832 stop saying sports entertainment its a made up word by vince mcmahon ..you are watching Pro Wrestling which is what it has been called for a 100 years...say sports entertainment one more time and u will feel the full power of the Darkside
This is what wrestling should be in my opinion. Story that builds to a match. Wrestling matches with no build can be great but the story is what makes me watch and be intrigued
This is absolute gold. Having been a wrestling fan since watching the NWA on Saturday’s out of Tampa, this is the best promo I’ve seen in a loooong time.
This is 1st time in a long time I've felt this excited for a match. Ric and Double J are so legendary. Lethal and Andrade will be megastars for real after this.
Storyline wise Jeff and Jay totally have a point. Ric definitely not acting like a classic babyface. 😂 Reaaally enjoying this hype videos. Jarrett is tremendous.
The genius of Flair is that he sort of transcends the classic baby face and heel labels. That’s why I’ve always thought Ric was cool. He’s really always been that way. He’s just Ric Flair…you love him or you love to hate him, ego and all.
Trus. Flair isn't the most sympathetic face here. The "you beat up an old man" schtick doesn't hold a ton of water given that old man in question is also the dude who wanted to have a wrestling match.
I'm a super Wwe fan. But this kind of storytelling has really got me. I don't know, but if wwe were to incorporate this style of storytelling into their shows, I just think it would be so much better. And Jay Lethal's great. And so is Jeff and Karen Jarrett. And I won't even talk about Ric Flair. This man was born for wrestling. Even at 73 he can still talk and promote a match. And him just by calling Andrade "the baddest Mexican on the planet" makes me something I've never been before-a fan of Andrade. Ric is great. I questioned his decision to wrestle again, but then I watched this, and now I'm all for it.
This is how you build to the big match old school meets new school the best promotion and storyline creation I’ve seen in a very long time. It will be fun to watch wrestling again for me for the first time in years.
This lead-up has been amazing, and so heartfelt. It's easy to believe this is a for-real blood feud, and not an angle. This is like the old school stuff from the 80's where you hated to see your hero turn heel and betray his partner, but you couldn't look away from the screen.
Sh!t just got real, Jarrett and Lethal are going down, Nature Boy is in the best shape of this Century, Rick beat death and he will beat these chumps.....Can I get a Woo........Wooooooooooh.
@@mrvanntabulous And he looked like a million bucks last night. I went mainly to see him in action. What a classic heel. You wouldn’t believe the heat in that building for him.
I would say it's better than all of those right now I thought wrestlemania would be the best this year but this tops it atleast in terms of storytelling
I have literally been transported to the beliefs, investment and speechlessness of my childhood. There is nothing close, not remotely, that melds the reality of watching a man defy his age with the art of storytelling - that is competing with this. This literally satisfies every expectation I have of entertainment and makes up some new ones in the process. Ric makes me care, beyond suspending disbelief. It’s an uncanny ability to tap into belief itself. And even while I know there’s no one better, I’m beside myself that he can still dig the hook that deeply. Congratulations to all of you. I’m utterly blown away.
This shit was better than anything WWE and AEW have going on. These promos felt so real. Whoever put this together definitely need their own wrestling promotion.
This 3 part Build has Been Amazing! This is how you build to a match! You show this to someone who doesn't know/follow wrestling, they'd think its 100% Legit! & Rightfully So! J Lethal is so underrated & under appreciated still till this day!
After all this Ric needs to fly down on his jet to Tampa, limousine out to the beach, wearing his rolex, diamond ring, alligator sandals and steal some kisses while making em cry lol
Thank you sir for all you have done in wrestling. I've followed you since the first time I saw you on Midatlantic. Race, Steamboat, Big Dust, Sting, and Windham were your best. The 4 Horseman are legendary. Thank you.
According to Jim Cornette, Jerry Jarrett had a sign in his office back in the “glory days” of territory wrestling that said, “Personal Issues Draw Money”, I see that Jeff Jarrett is carrying on his father’s tradition with this angle. Great so far!
I fuckin LOVE that they're taking advantage of social media to help promote matches now! This is how you get eyes on the show !! Plus, it's Ric ! Who DOESN'T wanna see that ? IDC if he's 90 and coming out in a wheelchair , I'm watching it AND cheering my ass off the whole time! While also slightly panicking inside lol
Jay Lethal ought to be the World Heavyweight Champion ten times over. Why his talent isn't on the world stage is beyond me. Even knowing what the deal is this guy makes it sound and seem 100% legitimate and he's selling a lot of tickets to this thing.
He is a little small, and he's lost a step, but he is still great on the mike. I don't think ROH used him as well as they might have - given their lack of stars after their prime talent went to the WWE.
Listen up WWE, this is how you build a epic storyline, this is pure genius and has me sold into wanting to see this. This is how wrestling buildups should be done, PERIOD!!!
Bro this was actually very impressive from the acting to the build up I can see this cast going further then this rivalry they almost look like a cast for a tv show extremely impressive
I'm so glad to see Bob Caudle!!! I hope you're healthy and happy, sir! It has been a true pleasure listening to you over the years! God bless you, Mr. Caudle!
This is so emotional for me because I've been a big fan of Ric's since I was a single digit child now that I'm 47 and this Is Flair's final match bring tears to my eyes. To have Jeff, Lethal and Andrade involved this is going to be epic. To quote Ric "this is the greatest sport in the entire world". Wooooooo!
Again………This is so much better than anything on WWE TV. Even in the main event. This feels bigger than any main event in WWE. If this was as is on a WWE show and I had to pay for this PPV, I’d buy it 100%. I’m not an overly huge Flair fan, or Lethal fan or even a huge Jarret fan. But all of these guys together and then bringing in Andrade was icing on the cake. Take my money man.
Absolutely brilliant, from the fire promo from Ric at the end of part 1 to the parking lot beat down of part 2. Part 3 did not disappoint. This is wrestling story telling at its absolute best. I cannot wait to see the match.
@@jameswalker2079 It makes me so sad that Vince and Jim Crocket/Ted Turner essentially killed off all the territories. (To the point Vince had to use trainer/developmental territories like OVW or FCW) It would have been so cool to be a kid and have grown up watching some of the US territories. All I really knew being a kid from the UK was WWF and WCW. I suppose things are a bit better now with all the indies and the fact there is Impact and AEW/ROH or even to a lesser extent MLW, that can counter the WWE stranglehold. But I think WWE even tried to kill the indies with its NXT product (at least that's what they tried in the UK with NXT UK) The other day I was actually watching (for the first time) some Smokey Mountain Wrestling episodes, there is a channel that has every single episode.
Jeff is also 100% in this thing man makes me want to hate him plus the little touch when Karen rubs his shoulders before he speaks is gold. I can't wait for this match!
My earliest Memories of Ric Flair are in the Early - mid 80s fighting the Von Erichs in WCCW. THIS Texan has never gotten over WCCW and the other territories, I havent been near as huge a fan since the death of the territories. A part of wrestling died in the late 80s- early 90's . I always preferred Ric Flair over Hulk Hogan⚡ i've been a fan for 41 years. And The Nature Boy has been a huge part of that WOOOO!! I'M sorry that it has to end- Thank You Ric Flair🔥🔥
as someone who grew up watching all the territories...this is the most old school and best thing I have seen since the 80s this is what wrestling...more specifically territory wrestling use to be.
Every one of these videos for Ric's Last Match has left me WITH A TEAR IN MY EYE. I cant remember the last time the storytelling for a match got me this emotionally invested. I honestly can't wait to watch this match!
The subtle ways they built this up. Like Jay not appearing on the podcast. Yet he didn't tweet about it showing he was really hurt. This is the best wrestling angle in years.
This is the best promo I've ever seen in the all of wrestling. I'm crying. Thank you all for the work the blood the sweat and the pain. You are artists.
Driving to Nashville from Knoxville. Gotta see him. Remembering being stationed over seas n my pops would wake me up at 3am to watch wrestling. When you get older, you miss these moments more than anything. I remember Ric vividly, along with many others. Can’t wait to see him!
Ngl I was pretty cooled on the idea of the match (tho some of the undercard got me interested) but these vignettes actually turned me around. Whoever put these together managed to win my ppv dollars
Hands down the best promos, story in ALL of Wrestling today with a kick of realism that sucks you right in!! Hats off to whoever put this package together more entirely than WWE's entire roster!! This adds some worry & tension that the pg wwe is sorely missing! The fact Ric at his age got busted open the hard way is in itself shocking and I believe itll be no difference come match time
That has been one of the most authentic personal old school stories I've ever seen booked and showed and promo to the highest degree. This is something that wrestling today needs more of. This match is sold me to me for sure.
