Let's please, for once, not spoil them on what episodes they "need to prepare for" or "need tissues for" or "they're gonna love" or "this episode is the most hyped!" or whatever other influential statements people like to make. Those are all spoilers still. Let them watch and experience the story the same way we all have/all still are, with no indications of what's coming up next.
I agree with this statement down to my soul. Like when people say "then ending sucked" or "youre gunna hate the ending". Like bro... just because you don't say the plot, you're still telling me what to expect. People need to quit that shit
Thank god a few more reactors who haven't played the game, I find that these reactions are 100% more entertaining than the ones who have already played the game and know whats going to happen
On the flip side, the game is the original. It’s like listening to someone cover a song without knowing the original first. You will get more out of the game. For someone who is going to play the game, they should play the game first before watching the show. It’s the original story with nothing added or taken away. For someone who just wants to watch the series then great. Just my opinion… also the game experience is better IMO.
For all those getting frustrated, this is what a genuine blind reaction is. Their questions are 100% valid to those with zero context. Many reactors who 'never played the game' still had side exposure from off-handed watching others play or just being exposed to the story through other media. I found it kinda funny that a lot of their simpler questions like "how does she know about 80s music?" actually is answered, but much later.
I don't mind at all that they HAVE questions. And I'm also very happy that they are going in blind. I got a bit frustrated that Lola was talking constantly - instead of watching and listening because the answers are presented in the show, sometimes immediately :D
Her name is Ellie. She was lying about her name to Marlene because she didn’t know Marlene already knew who she was. And then Marlene used her name as if to say, “Why are you lying?”
I find it super funny how you two always say "my baby boy" and "my baby girl", and that's exactly what Joel called his daughter. Maybe you're not so different after all. I'm so happy you're finally watching this show.

FEDRA stands for "The Federal Disaster Response Agency", it is a changed name (to avoid legal problems) of the existing FEMA agency "Federal Emergency Management Agency". In case you're wondering, not a spoiler, there were FEMA-style symbols shown signed as FEDRA.
Ellie's name was always Ellie, she gave the Fireflies a fake name cause she didn't trust them...the only stuff she knows about the Fireflies is what she learned in school, which is run by FEDRA, the military remnant of the federal government which the Fireflies are trying to overthrow, and FEDRA doesn't exactly paint the Fireflies in a very positive light...plus they did chain Ellie to a radiator, which doesn't generally foster a trusting relationship. As for where the radio tower in Wyoming is in relation to Boston, it's roughly 2300 miles (or 3700 kilometers) west if you're taking the most direct ground route, across a lot of open terrain and several very highly-populated cities, including Albany, either Cleveland or Detroit (depending on whether you travel the southern or northern side of Lake Eyrie), Chicago, possibly Milwaukee, etc.

Good choice making the executive decision to watch Band of Brothers first without winning of a poll, and then great choice giving it its own space and not overlapping with this show. I’m SO happy you guys are reacting to this! You are both very observant and perceptive, there’s a lot in this show that requires critical thinking. Each episode I’ve watched has gotten better and better, to the point where I honestly don’t know how I would pick a favorite! It’s incredible.
They're not exactly zombies, they don't need to be shot in the head to die. They die like normal people, you can choke them out, stab them, etc. If the host dies the virus dies. Love your reaction!
The “virus”.doesn’t necessarily die when the host does. It will live as long as there is something left of the body to eat and will only die if they can’t latch onto another human.
I'd also add that someone who has been infected for a while will have fungal plates covering their body which act as a kind of armor, and that even an infected person who has been seriously wounded will be forced by the Cordyceps to ignore the pain and continue to fight to the death. So at least those two factors make infected people harder to kill than regular human enemies.
I'm just glad you two are watching this. Started your channel with AOT (waiting for that new special btw) and became my favorite reaction for that. But I haven't really seen anything else watched so I've been away from the channel for a while so this is a welcome return.

Agreed, freaking rare watching reactors who don't know whats gonna happen. Their channel is going to blow even more because they might be the biggest channel of reactors that knows nothing about the game. 20k now and its their first episode? They played this right out for big views for the next 7 weeks

I am really happy you reacting to this show 25:45 I cried at this point like a toddler, even though I saw the scene in the game and reactions x times and knew what was happening. I was very skeptical about Pedro and Bella as Joel and Ellie. But they do it incredibly well. It feels straight out of the game. Also the others ... Nico as Sarah, Gabriel as Tommy, Anna as Tess. All done great. Merle as Marlene anyway cause it's the same actress as in the game. My conclusion after this episode: I've never been so captivated by the start of a series based on a story I know inside and out. So damn close to the game plus more informations and filled gaps. Absolutely masterpiece! The song at the end is Depeche Mode with "Never let me down again" from 1987. So yes, it means trouble!
I haven't played the game, but I figured it was likely given context. But... wow. I had to pause the video at that point and take 15 mins to calm down. I can't recall ever having to do that in a tv show before. (Maybe it's a dad thing) Even now, I tear up every time I see a reaction at this point.

All of what this^^^^^^^^person said. They are literally one reaction channel I want to see react to Black Sails. With how discuss shows afterwards. It would so much fun watching them guess and likely guess really wrong. But they would love Black Sails. I am convinced of this.
It’s a shame they’re experiencing the show version of the story rather than the original game story. Troy Baker & Ashley Johnson’s performances really set the essence of Joel & Ellies character; as much as Pedro Pascal & Bella Ramsey are good actors, they don’t capture the nuances of Joel & Ellie’s characters (as portrayed in the game).

One thing I wanted to see in reaction videos is how focused they are on details. This my favorite video game ever and already my favorite series of all time. I’m happy you guys are taking this seriously. It’s my first time seeing this channel and safe to say you ladies deserve a sub. Keep up the good work!
As always, your reactions were wonderful and refreshing. The names of the infected are as follows: Runners are the infected in the initial stage which look like what we typically see as a zombie. They are faster than normal humans and the Codryceps infection’s first stage which drives them to spread the infection. Stalkers are slower but ,ore advanced infected which are seen the most throughout. Fungus grows outside of the body which allows them to use mushroom tendrils to grow against hard surfaces such as walls. Clickers are those infected for 1-year or so. They are blind so they attack when they hear sounds of people particularly their movement. They are well known for making a clicking sound hence the name and the mushrooms on top of their heads. Bloaters/Shamblers (The big ones) These are infected of whom are completely consumed by the bloating fungus and are killing machines while the others will infect others. Shamblers are the same with the exception of acidic spit and are usually located on the west coast Both can rip of fungus and throw it at potential victims. I hope this is not considered a spoiler but just a way to reference the different type of infected that are shown in the series.
Ellie is her real name, she never uses Veronica in the game so it's assumed she's just using a fake name to not give her real name to the fireflies. Also, whenever you are done with the series it would be great to see comparisons from the game and the show, so far the adaption is on par with the game and some scenes look like a one to one recreation. The Last of Us game is one of my favorites and it's an amazing showcase that games are capable of presenting heartfelt stories on par with movies and shows and that not all games are mindless shooters like call of duty (although still fun)

Joel was looking at a trip around 2150 miles/ 3500 km between Boston and Cody, Wyoming (where the tower was said to be.) In an apocalypse? Yeah that's a trek.

Patient zero is actually someone who's the first person who got infected with the disease, ellie is not patient zero she's just the first person who's immune to the fungus and can't get infected from a bite

The difference between these “zombies” and regular ones is that they’re not dead in this show - they’re alive but being controlled by the fungus, which is more terrifying. It’s like you’re aware of what’s happening but you can’t control it. But if you get shot you can die, and the fungus doesn’t make you alive again like a zombie virus or something

So far, this tv show adaptation has been really good especially given the track record when it comes to anime/game to movie/tv show adaptations. Tend to not be so great or just straight up garbage lol. I'm excited to watch your journey with TLOU 😊

I recently saw a video on Cordyceps which described some modern research which suggests that the fungus might not actually take over the host's mind. Instead, it seems the fungus filaments penetrate into the muscle tissue and is then able to control the host's movements. They stipulated that it could be the case that both muscle control and brain control occurs, as well as the need for more research to fully understand the mechanism/s of control. I actually find the prospect of muscle control without mind control to be even scarier. Not so much for insects, but for higher orders of organism like we humans, the host could lose physical control of their body, but with their brain in tact and fully unaffected they would be completely conscious of what is happening. Silently trapped inside a body that carries you around against your will..... crazy stuff and extremely interesting.
I'm gonna be "that" guy:) Whenever people talk about "the virus" so much watching this show, I know it's almost inevitable to think about viruses, it's the classical thing in movies related to contagious diseases. But that's why we had the 1968 prologue, the expert explained this isn't a virus, or a bacteria. It's fungus, fungi. It's also a widespread infection, but it's not viral, it's a fungus. I know it's not "that" important, but just wanted to share that. Because that's the reason there's no "vaccine" for this, and that's why the expert in 1968 is terrified about it, and he says he's not afraid of viruses.

"The Last of Us" is doing for zombie horror what "The Expanse" did for sci-fi, or perhaps "Game of Thrones" for fantasy. A portrayal of believability and realism in detail that makes the show so much deeper and compelling.

I remember seeing video of ants infected with it and how they keep living with the fungus growing in them but not in control of themselves. Creepy idea!! The Sarah actress looks familier because she looks A LOT like her mom, which you should remember from Westworld. 😄 She has her mom's looks and talent. I actually find the fungus that goes after fruit flies creepier than the one that goes after ants. This show is going to break them nearly as much as Band of Brothers. Not a complaint, I don't care what you call them, but if you want a word, infected is probably most accurate.
I really appreciate that you guys respect people's chosen names. However, in this situations Ellie was military trained, when get captured, she used a fake name on purpose. That is why when Marlene used her name Veronica, she sounded sarcastic, Marlene knows her real name since from the conversation, you know Marlene has been keeping her eye on her for a while.
There's little context clues in the episode that hint at how the fungus first got spread. (Biggest flour mill in the world is in Jakarta. Notice how they didn't have pancakes for breakfast, didn't take any biscuits, and Joel forgot the cake.)
