Nick Offerman (Bill) won the Emmy for Guest Actor in a Drama Series, for this episode. Murray Bartlett (Frank) was also nominated in that category.

I literally absolutely weep every time I watch this. After so many years of queer media ending in tragedy, even their death by their own choice, after living the best life they could make for one another, was so damn powerful. Thank you for sharing your reaction to this.

Per the showrunner, Frank is suffering from a neuromuscular degenerative disease, like ALS or MS. You can see the fairly rapid onset in deterioration of the painting Frank was working on.

I appreciate how they gave Bill and Frank's story so much depth, which was slightly touched on, and at the same time still give Bill a way to help Joel to get a working car battery for him and Elle. And yes Joel is a protector meant to protect Elle, who is like his daughter. P.S it's kinda implied Joel and Tess had a relationship, but it's never officially confirmed.

What I find amazing even after so much time has passed since this episode had first aired is that there is still people out there (bigots in general) who trolled the ratings of this episode because of its LGBTQ+ narrative. IT WAS CANNON FACT THAT BOTH BILL AND FRANK WERE HOMOSEXUAL. GET OVER IT.

Yeah, a love story amidst the apocalyps. It's great that you stress the positive side of their story, when many were just sad (that is to say at first, others also mention that they had a fulfilled time together) Also great that you connected the emotional music scene with "Arrival", which not many do! It's sad that because of the timeline and when the outbreak happened, marriage equality never happened. Bill & Frank were among the lucky ones in this world, regardless of that.

This is by far the biggest departure from the game and for the best. They somehow found a way to improve the story for tv. Bill still ultimately serves the same purpose for Joel from a different angle, but it's a great example of how you can change things from the source material in a respectful way. So good.

I just found your channel and binged the three (so far) TLOU reactions. From knowing a surprising amount about mycology whenever the Infected come up, immediately clocking Ellie is immune and the key to a vaccine, recognizing On the Nature of Daylight, noting Ellie being Joel's "second chance" at a daughter, to various minor observations along the way (and more major ones that have yet to pay off, so no spoilers!) I can't think of the last time I've seen a more keen, perceptive, empathetic, and well-read reactor. It will be very hard for this show to sneak a plot twist past you!

Bill and Frank had 17 years together, which is far longer than most people in that world get. Plus they lived like kings compared to everyone else in the world. And they went out on their own terms. This is not a sad story.

sure, but i always felt that this episode was like reading all of the notes and documents that you find in the game. TLoU is the story of Ellie and Joel, yeah, but just because they're the POV playable characters. because, in a way, TLoU is also the story of humanity post-trauma (via an apocalyptic event), how humanity dealt with loss and death. there are so many little stories about other ppl that you learn about during the game that you almost feel like you kinda forgot about Ellie and Joel for a while... exactly what this episode feels like. like, not only we get a glimpse of Bill and Frank, but also the woman with her baby, and young Joel and Tess. we always learn a little bit about other ppl.
