I can't shake the feeling Neil wrote that line in because of Troy. I don't know if I believe that was a coincidence because when I heard that line I was like whaaat? Outta nowhere :)
***** The scene you refer to might be the one that Neil wrote specifically for the "The Last of Us One Night Live" special for the PS4 remastered launch (it wasn't cut from the game, it solely existed for that live performance). Troy sings in character as Joel, but no one was allowed to record it. :( Go listen to Troy's new album - Sitting in the Fire, you can fill yourself with more jealousy! You can also go listen to him sing "Cold Cold Heart" in character as Joker for Arkham Origins. You can hardly believe it's all the same guy!
Would've been the biggest twist. Les Miserable movie remake came out a few months before TLOU1, and I was hooked to Broadway thanks to that movie. If this singing ending was canon for TLOU1, I would have loved it LOOl
I have a feeling that as soon as Merle started singing, Troy remembered what Neil had instructed “Whatevrr goes wrong, just KEEP GOING.” And realised, “that mother-“ IT’S NOT FOR YOU TO DECIDE-. 😂😂😂
With chemistry like this is not hard to see how the game turned out so great. Thanks for all the memories and congrats to everyone involved in the making of this game.
I forgot that even the hostage actor was unaware. Only Marlene was told to sing the scene, lol. Love it. The crew and Niel's reactions trying not to laugh in the background are priceless. Merle's voice is amazing. Great performance from all.
This should've been an easter egg in the game, where if you do a certain thing, this version plays out fully animated. I know this is cheesy, but like if you agree.
So you're telling me that Troy improvised ALL OF THAT SINGING without knowing it from the beginning? I just can't believe it, but if that's true, he's da real mvp
He said in another interview that his wife is obsessed with Les Mis and that's where he pulled that musical improv from. Like the style and the sung monologue. Some people are just inexplicably talented.
All these years later, I still return to this with gleeful anticipation of how masterfully they improvised and how cathartic it must have felt. Now I hope a whole new audience from the HBO show somehow finds their way here. :-)
I just did and my gosh I DID NOT expect that at all!! So glad I didn’t read the comment section and just watched this video with no expectations. Their improvs were so brilliant though! Wow I’m thoroughly impressed (and entertained! Lol)
You can see it in his eyes. He genuinely wasn't forewarned and was trying to figure out how to respond. How he didn't burst out laughing is anyone's guess.
@@stevenmccroskey3411 because the 2nd game was so great that these zoomer kids couldn't handle that it wasn't a childish little marvel movie ending The ending was awesome if you're older than 13 mentally
+Garnalenpeller Merle Dandridge is actually a broadway performer, and Troy Baker is a musician/vocalist. If you like Troy's voice, he and Courtnee Draper did a really great cover of an old gospel song in BioShock Infinite.
chaosngelx Like, you can see the original ending but then in the Main Menu there's a new option to view the "Alternate" Ending and you get that whole scene xD
everyone in this scene was fantastic, i love how even the doctor does his own melodramatic death yell, and major props to everyone for not bursting out in laughter or even smirking xD
@@raquelesteves3334 fragile man babies couldn't handle the ending. "wh- wh- why isn't she in the house :( :(. Mom, why isn't D and JJ in the house :( this is a 1 star game :(:(:("
I at least thought that you could get a cut scene and the guy you kill says "Here's the guns we promised." and then you get said guns and shoot him. That way, at least they give you the guns and you still fight your way towards Ellie.
Oh, Neil Druckmann, now every time I see him I wish he got fired long time ago, it would've been so nice if they didn't make part 2, but they did, oh they did
Not sure how, but this just made me love the game so much more. Blood, sweat, and tears were poured into this series and I'm happy to see that most tears were from laughter. Seems like such a cool process to be a part of- I dream to be in a game someday.
Tess1061 ashley wasn't there in this scene she said, which she was very sad about. which is one reason they did this scene in the One Night Live performance, so she could be a part of it.
***** Think about it, all those hours of death, serious story and emotional connections then you get to the end and there's a musical number. You mean to tell me you wouldn't lose your fucking mind?
