A 56-year old Joel had to be VERY tired by the time they slept in that apartment. He drove from just outside Boston to Kansas City in two days, and he was up all night on watch when they camped, which is why he was chugging coffee. Then they got attacked, were on the run in the city, and climbed 30+ floors of a tall building apparently with little food or water. Then he laughed at her joke and fell asleep with the wrong ear up.

Perry, big-bearded guy in the military gear who's walking around with Kathleen, is played by Jeffrey Pierce. He played (voice + mocap) Tommy (Joel's brother) in the games.

Sometimes, if you hit the last surviving enemy in an encounter, they don't die but get majorly injured. Instead of attacking, they start pleading for you to let them go. Naturally, it's just a fluke. If you take too long, that person gets up and tries to attack you. In Part 2, sometimes the enemy just succumbs to their injuries. It was cool to see that make a return here! I was also glad to see Joel conserving his ammo. Seen too many players shoot the downed enemies in the game. I never do that. ALWAYS melee them. Ammo is scarce and doesn't grow on trees lol

That opening scene of Ellie with the gun was VERY reminiscent of Taxi Driver. Now, this is a VERY obscure thing. So much so I've never seen any player find this and I've countless TLoU playthroughs. Funnily enough, in the game's DLC, there is an opportunity to goof around a bit. Upon acquiring a Triple Phoenix (in-game fictional video game character) mask, if you hit square, Ellie will quote the famous line, "Are you talking to me??". Ellie has canonically seen Taxi Driver lol

In an episode full of great moments, my favorite was the one where after Ellie shows concern and fear about being attacked in the middle of the night... We cut to Joel standing guard, watching over Ellie, making sure that she can sleep safely :') They also played a particular song during that part that features in the game during a lovely moment. I can't say what, tho and I shan't.

This was an amazing episode. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey had great chemistry in this episode as Joel and Ellie. It was great seeing Joel smile and laugh. I can't wait for what episode 5 is gonna bring. Great reaction from you three.

Ya'll mentioned 'He should of went around' and that's a great point. If you remember when Joel and Ellie are walking up all those stairs she asks "How did you know that guy wasn't hurt?" And Joel tells her he's been on both sides. When they hit that blocked bridge and Joel gets out of the truck to scout and see's a wide open road on the other side of the blocked bridge, because he's been "on both side" his gut is telling him it's a trap. But Joel is worried about Tommy and doesn't want any more delays in getting to him, so against his better judgment he chooses not to go around. So his apology to Ellie later is not only because she had to shoot that guy, but I think it's also a bit of "I knew better, and we're in this mess because of me." Which adds emphasis to when he tells Ellie "We'll get through this." Its his way of saying "I'll make this right."

There's a note you find in the Regal Apartments shiv door (a locked room with tons of supplies. There are 13 of them) in the game. In this note, a woman named Eva picks up arms and swears revenge against FEDRA because they killed her son for protesting. Upon reading it, Joel comments (one of the few times Joel says something about a note) "well, with that kind of thinking, no one wins." Here, Kathleen's brother is killed by FEDRA. I'm almost 100% certain that this character was inspired by Eva and that note.

So happy that they included the joke book. Such a great running gag in the game. All of that leading up to the great diarrhea joke and their bonding moment. And the porno mag was another great inclusion from the game. The guy who plays Perry, the lieutenant, is Jeffrey Pierce. He played Tommy in the games. So great seeing him in the show. He looks so different from when he worked on the games.

Favorite part is when Ellie says, in the car, she's not tired and then the next scene she's knocked right out lol I loved it in the game and they nailed the cut in live action better. She IS Ellie at this point. She's doing a great job with this character and of course Pedro is killing it as Joel 👑 great job, ladies! Have tissue on standby before any episode lol they love to make us FEEL every emotion. That moment Joel was laughing at the end will have everyone laughing with him too I bet

@What We Watchin'?!, This was another great story, and another great reaction. This team is on fire! I'm going to be upset if they don't win Emmys for this series--everything is clicking for this series (pun intended =P). Don't know if you heard or not, but the next episode drops Friday because of the Super Bowl.

Yeah Joel saw how suspect the underpass was but figured he’d risk it. A big old mistake on his part. The joke book is something in the game whenever you start taking a long time to do something in a quiet area. The car scene with the magazine was 1 to 1 with the game from start to her throwing the magazine out. It was great to see.
