The Last of Us Episode 5 Reaction | Endure And Survive 

It took 65 makeup artists 5 hours to do all the monsters including the bloater. The guy who is playing the bloater is a big guy who has worked on many popular movies and shows requiring a large monster of some sort. He nailed it playing the bloater!

Even when the little guy turned, he still was deaf, so he couldn't attack Ellie because he couldn't hear her, until she was in front of him.

Joel and Ellie's relationship is growing each episode - Ellie saying she trusts him, the look on Joel's face when he was in the tower scared for Ellie's survival, Ellie yelling for Joel when being attacked by Sam.

If you notice Joel looks at Ellie then his watch in certain moments throughout this episode as well as the last episode. I think some things she does reminds him of his daughter. And it shows he is becoming more concerned for Ellie. Instead of cargo she is a human being. Each event they go through makes them closer.

The last part of the episode was so hard. I got emotional and in fighting tears made my chest hurt 🤣 the shock for Henry, never having killed anyone to making his first kill his own brother the same brother he betrayed a great man to keep alive. This was an amazing episode. Never played the game and this series stands on its own.

Every time I go through this story, I half forget how Henry and Sam's story ends. I've seen some reactors that haven't played the game in a while say the same or just straight up forget about Henry and Sam. I think it's just a part of the game that's so haunting that we just suppress the memory of it.

The subtle change to Henry and Sam's story in particular I loved, because it does some foreshadowing for TLOU2. A lot of people didn't like part 2 but as I played I understood more and more and as an adult trying to see all sides of a story...I understood. Someone is special to someone and like the creators of the shows said, unconditional love or any kind of love although heartwarming and beautiful can be a very dangerous thing sometimes.

everything they showing us play big parts in ellie and joel’s relationship. everyone was saying that bills and franks episode was irrelevant bc they have nothing to do with joel and ellie but that whole episode was to show us the message of fighting for someone which is the message and what they are building in the relationship with joel and ellie. this also goes for this episode since this thing plays a big thing in ellie and joel since you can see him changing and having character development

The writer of the story said before the debut that there will not be a ton of infected in the series, but when you do see them (in my own words) they are going to bring it. It will be an impactful scene every time and it has so far. Also, The Last Of Us is more about human than infected. It's about how bad humanity turned to shit after the outbreak and Ellie and Joel's relationship while having to navigate through all of it to make it out west.

They're not saving $ on this show. It costs 10 plus million each episode. Same as Game of Thrones in it's later season. This episode had clues to the closeness of Joel/ Ellie. Henry recognizing that Joel is a father figure. Joel asking Ellie does she trust him. The panic focus Joel had taking out the clickers to make a path for Ellie. Ellie/Joel non verbal communication as she goes to save Henry and Sam. Ellie screaming for Joel as Sam attacked. The sheer anger and helplessness of Joel as Sam and attacked Ellie and he couldn't do anything. Don't think Joel buried Henry and Sam just for decorum. Joel only does what is required. He buried them for Ellie's sake.

Those smoldering body's we saw last episode, when Joel comes riding in to the city, are those collaborators. Nicely done, story wise .

Thi - this is by far the best episode yet ... Yesus I wasn't getting that loving warm bond from Joel and Ellie yet but I immediately fell in love with the Henry and Sam actors that I quickly felt like I was really watching The Last of Us ...... The Sam and Henry actors sold the episode and had me hooked on the spot and this is the first episode where we see good pacing (Not too slow to let a scene drag out but not too fast to rush into the meaningful details) , the scenes kept me at the edge of my seat and there was so much heart wrenching moments and don't get me started on thAT BADASS INFECTED MOMENT AND HOLY SHIT THAT BLOATER 🔥🔥🔥 Bro this is the first time I legit got so creeped out and scared for the characters when the infected came rushing in ..... Fucking World War Z headass zombies 😂 AND THEY HAD JOEL SHOOTING THE INFECTED/HUNTERS WITH THE SNIPER WHILE PROTECTING HENRY, SAM, AND ELLIE ... I LOVE HOW THEY KEPT THAT DETAIL IN ..... Oh Kathleen's death felt so good like I was so excited that we finally got rid of that bitch and we can move on with the story ........ Pedro's performance was more recognizable as Joel in this one ... His mannersims and his tone was more reminiscent of Papa Joel's rough exterior and empathetic side ...... I also wasn't happy with Sam being deaf when I first heard the news but then I quickly forgot and accepted it because of how amazing this episode was and how protective I found myself of Sam ... Also him being deaf made his scenes much more intense and fucked up god damn this kid is an incredible actor ..... I got hyped when we finally heard the word, " Clicker ....." Ellie wanting to save Sam is an example of a good deviation from the game because the fate of the character doesn't change and then we see how desperate Ellie was to save him that she hoped so badly that her blood would heal him but unfortunately we can't escape our consequences ....... Also, I liked Ellie when we were first introduced to her but then she started to have an attitude, and seemed more edgy and had a darker side when she sliced that stalker's face with no emotion but then she started to be more recognizable as Ellie throughout the show ... Especially in this episode since she was more lighthearted, protective and had great chemistry with Sam, and I loved how she teased and made fun of Joel's voice and we got the sense of how she knows him that well now ..... What a beautiful cinematic episode, amazing performances, intense and BADASS infected scenes , so much tension , high stakes, stellar attention to lore details with Ish's family and the comics, also what an emotional and heartwrenching episode ... Did anyone else notice how Henry explaining how he is a bad guy who has done a bad thing just to protect Sam is foreshadowing Joel killing The Fireflies ( The Bad Thing ) to protect Ellie .... Man that was genius ...... This is what The Last of Us is about ........

ISTG this was the best fucking episode. SOOOO MANY things from the game, made me real excited. Also nothing could prepare me for Sam and Henry's death, even tho I already knew, still cried like a baby. Ellie trying to safe Sam was a nice touch, this will stay with her for a looong time. Every episode keeps getting better and better, I'm so hyped up!
