I have a theory that Marlene was never the true leader of the fireflies, that she was just a figurehead. If this is true then it is most likely that the fireflies are not what they seem and have some hidden agenda we still don't even know about. It's possible that instead of saving mankind, they wanted to use the cure to control the remaining population, like "Do what we say, and we'll sure you. Or else be at the mercy of the infected."
Man..it doesnt look good for Joel, he is getting older and we all have to die sometime. Hopefully he survives this game but if there is a last of us part 3.....
I'm a little late but I have a theory that maybe the person that Ellie sees get killed is her mom. Ik it sounds stupid cause why would her mom be in some random building near Tommy's camp, but who knows. Just seems like its to obvious to be Dina or Joel. And, like said in the video, Ellie wearing Dina's bracelet could be misdirection. Same with Joel walking through the door like an angel.

The 'okay' at the end of the original 'The Last Of Us' is really deep. You can understand it in multiple ways. Okay as in 'i don't care if you're lying'. Okay as in 'I know your lying and I wont forgive you for lying to me'. Or okay as in 'I believe you.'
I always took it as; "Okay, I accept that's your answer". She's not stupid, and I think she'll always question his answer. And Naughty Dog will certainly revisit that part of their relationship.
If all the female leads in film the last 10 years has told us anything , it's that the male lead must die at some point.And Joel is most likely going to die and be her PTSD ghost like the original theory was in the reveal trailer. I would love to have Joel be the main character again, but i think that time has past and the only way Ellie becomes the lead is if the former lead is killed off.

I love how quiet the devs are being. We can speculate for years and I love that. I have many ideas for the story and I’m so excited to see the more mature themes that we may see!
My theory is Dina betrays Ellie and kills Joel. That gunshot that we hear when the screen blacks out could be Ellie seeing Joel killed. This makes her want to take revenge. The Joel we see when Ellie is playing the guitar seems younger and thus seems like he is a pigment of her imagination.

The stoic demeanor that Ellie had at the end of the first game, after butchering David, seems to have carried over into Part 2. I think that traumatic event, mixed in with her residual survivor’s guilt *(Riley, Tess, Sam & Henry etc.)* has permanently altered her personality. Even though she jokes around with Dina in the new demo, you can just hear this masked sadness in Ellie’s voice. Not to mention it’s clear that she’s holding a lot in, when you look at her facial expressions.
Ellie has only ever known danger, death and the trauma of having to barely survive in a world turned upside down by a worldwide plague that basically turns people into monsters that just want to kill. Ya think that might have some type of an effect on her?? 😆😆
ACforlife 123 in the first game Ellie tells Joel how everyone she’s ever cared for has died or left her except for him. Joel is super important to Ellie, so I think it could be Joel’s death or she gets assaulted. David’s attack in TLOU really changed her

No, they wouldn't. Ellie burned the bite with acid to hide it. So probably Kat (the ex-GF that tattooed her) only knows she was somehow burnt by acid and was covering the ugly scar for her.
I played last of us one on PS3...now it's on PS Plus for PS4....and all the feels are coming back. That's saying something that 6yrs later a game still hits u in the feels. I'm beyond hyped for part 2 and cant wait

After finding out the devastating news about the game due to the leaks, I just don’t know how to feel about NaughtyDog or Neil anymore. For 7 years, I have been invested in The Last of Us franchise, loving the story, characters, and gameplay. I have have praised Neil and everyone on the NaughtyDog team on what is said to be one of the greatest narrative based games of all time. When the sequel announcement was released, I’m not going to lie, I was a little bit skeptical. I thought the first should have been it, there was no need for a second. But as time went on and more trailers, pictures, and theories were put out, I felt confident that this game would live up to the first. I would honestly do anything to take it back. I had so much faith that this would live up to the first, and possibly make it better, if that’s somehow possible. I feel sick to my stomach; never in a million years would I think this story would go this that way. This is like a shot to the stomach not only to us supporters of this game/game developer, but to the gaming community as a whole. This had the potential to be one of the greatest games of this decade, and instead we’re getting something that is possibly the worst outcome that could ever be thought of. There is no point of getting angry about it, the damage is already done. But it’s ok to be upset and disappointed. I’m not saying the fans were expecting heartfelt moments or a happy ending, it’s an apocalyptic game for god sakes. There wasn’t a happy ending in the first. But I can vouch for more than half the fan base on this one: we wanted a story that is Ellie and Joel. Obviously other characters can be introduced and it still be a great game, but the whole premise of ‘THE LAST OF US’ is about the story between Ellie and Joel, and their father-daughter relationship. THAT is what we fell in love with. THAT is what we were looking forward to. And instead we get this? I want to apologize for saying that the people who originally said that the game did not need a sequel and that it would only ruin in the long run back in 2016 needed to be optimistic and stop being negative about a great thing. I also want to apologize to Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker. I bet when they were reading the scripts that thought it was some kind of sick joke. They really put their heart and soul into these roles, and they most likely did in this game also. Like I said last year about Emilia Clarke, they did the best with what they were given. Speaking of Emilia Clarke, I also want to apologize to the GOT fans that I made fun of for being upset about the ending, this is my karma. Oh, and the employees working at NaughtyDog. They more than likely had no say in the story at all, they were just doing there jobs. I’m not goin to get into the whole ‘crunching’ situation, but it must suck to have something you have been working on for years be leaked to the public like that. Well, I already typed to much and you probably stopped reading by now, but a few more things. 1. NEIL WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!!!???? What in your right mind would have possessed you to write a narrative like this? What in your right mind would have you think the fans would enjoy this? I truly want to know. I have been reading about the SJW/feminist things about him for years, but I would have never thought he would go THIS far. I’m a young woman and I’m all for women empowerment, but this is fucking ridiculous. After this game releases to the public fully, I’m curious to know what will happen to Neil. Will he be fired (probably not)? Will he quit because of the immense hate this game will surely get? Will he move to mars? I don’t know, but I am worried for the future of NaughtyDog. 2. I will not likely not play the game, or watch someone play. I don’t physically think I can take it, I feel sick to my stomach already. I know I will see clips and pictures but I honestly will scroll right past them. I just can’t believe it. I have never had a game that I was looking forward to be completely outed like this. This honestly feels like a nightmare. At first I felt bad that someone leaked this game, but now that i’m typing this, I realize this was probably for the best. I hate to say it but it’s true. Maybe we’ll be surprised and not think this is a dumpster fire of game. Maybe we will be pleased (somewhat). All I know for sure is: I am disappointed beyond measure. The feelings you're describing is exactly how I felt after watching The Last Jedi... except I loved Star Wars for almost 40 years before that piece of shit movie ruined the franchise for me. Anyway, be grateful there was a hero that released spoilers to give you the choice to save your $60.
I love your theory of Ellie hunting down Dina! I feel like her being an antagonist would carry a lot of weight, especially with Ellie's intimate connection to her and the fact that within the trailers, we've seen that Dina is a fucken beast in combat! So many possibilities!
Druckmann said he liked the structure of Left Behind; so assume the game has two timelines where we jump between Ellie and MW (who I believe is Anna because of the 'nested with sin' line, working on the assumption that she volunteered as a test subject with Marlene... The recordings in TLOU support it) The Dina fake out (I highly doubt they'd repeat Ellie's history when she's already lost a girlfriend... But who knows) is more than likely just that; they're a hip enough studio to know their audience wouldn't cool with 'fridging' a character - introducing a LGBTQ love interest just to kill her off shortly after The story everyone wants involves Ellie and Joel, so I don't think it's Joel or Dina dying. Chances are, it's Tommy. Tommy dying helping Ellie in some way would make her feel responsible... Expect him to be a father at this point and Ellie be on friendly terms with Maria if this is in fact the case... They left it deliberately vague/misdirecting on purpose because they want everyone to feel the shock and surprise on key plot points. They've been extremely judicious of what they show in trailers and demos so no one at all knows for certain what is happening story-wise. There's still so many unanswered questions, and even considering what they've decided to name this title, it's a continuation of Ellie and Joel's story... I will be very surprised if he dies

I wonder if her hands shaking is because the virus is starting to affect her, because of her natural immunity to it. That could be really interesting. But it would also be interesting if it was just because of the horrible violence she has to endure. Either one could be done very well and I know how subtle NaughtyDog is with these little characteristics.
After the major leaks, with 90min of cutscenes from the new game, it's hard watching this video right now, reading the comments saying "If Joel is dead I'm done!" or similar, etc. You had some good theories.
I think Dina is going to be the one that betrayed Ellie in some way... Though, I hope that I'm wrong. Dina seems like a great, perfect girl for Ellie in the trailer. Damn it ND! I just want Ellie to be happy. You better give my girl the happy ending, she freaking deserved it!!!
When i first watched the trailer, I also thought that could be sexual abuse, especially bc of how the sequence is presented: her being dominated by two other characters (possibly more), being totally vulnerable and the bruises on her back. Especially because of what happened with her and the pedo cannibal from the first game. It could really set her off. Rape storylines are really hard to write and get it right without toally messing it up and missing the point. But if they go down that lane, I REALLY hope that they don't make her get pregnant from it, I understand how that could move the plot foward but I really don't think is worth it going down that lane like that.

While I suspected some deception from Naughty Dog in the trailers, watching this really opened my eyes to how much we truly don't know about this game. Trust me I'm hella poor 😂😂😂 I was originally gonna get the Special Edition, but I've been waiting for this game for so long... so I said screw it and got the Collector's Edition. But no way was I going to get the Ellie Edition. As Joel put it, that's too rich for my blood 😂
My current idea is that the story of Laura Bailey's character and the story of Ellie play out in parallel, with you as the player assuming both roles in alternating fashion. Eventually they'll converge (extra exciting if the lady is Anna!) and maybe find that they're all fighting the same enemy. A 3-faction revenge allegiance (remember that "Anna" seems to have been a former Seraphite herself) could prove pretty badass! As for what spurs Ellie's revenge quest in the first place, I really have no idea at this point. I highly highly doubt they would go the rape-and-revenge route, and I don't think Joel or Dina dies early. There are so many major characters whose existence we're not even aware of yet that I wouldn't be surprised if the nature of the revenge mission is literally unguessable as of now.
Robin You made my childhood with uc3 multiplayer TV on PS3. Its weird but it was my first multiplayer experience of my gaming life. When i got to know that the servers were shut down I was so sad I couldn't cry actual tears. I always went to it when I wanted solid fun. Dina gets murdered in the cabin, that’s what starts her blood fueled revenge rampage & Joel is a figment of her imagination or he meets her towards the end of the storyline and dies at the end. Tommy is not kidnapped but safe at the camp with his wife lol
Joel gets his head smashed with a golf club and you play as the girl who kills him aka the mysterious girl her name is Abby. Oh and Jessie gets killed too and Dina lives
Joel is my favourite character, I'm gonna be so mad if he's sidelined in this game in favour of Ellie.... I love both characters, but they are both the protagonists, so I hope we still get to play as Joel a lot
I feel ya. I love both characters so much, but I would hate for Joel to get sidelined. I think Joel will be a big part of the game, tho. I feel like they are purposefully not showing him, saving some of his stuff for when the game releases. And plus he's a fan favorite; I don't think Naughty Dog would abandon a character who is so loved by so many. Whether or not you play as him, I believe Joel has a large role to play in PT II. At least that's what I'm hoping. Either way, I'm so pumped for the game
Just based on what i've seen TLOU II seems to be a handing over the staff kind of scenario where we will focus more on Ellie, and maybe in the end as a gut punch they'll kill Joel for the feels
Lesley Totally agree with you! Joel is great but we played him the entire first game. I wouldn’t mind if there was a bite-sized portion of playing as Joel, like we got with Ellie in the first game, but I definitely don’t want it to be a continual thing that happens. Joel is strong almost to the point of being OP, and if you want to play him as reckless you can do that and still survive. Playing with Ellie is a totally different style of gameplay-you have to be more careful and think things through. If we just get to play as Joel all the time anyway, the game won’t be as challenging.
Harrison Moeller an article by Polygon said that Ellie will be the only playable protagonist, but i’m hoping it’s a lie cuz joel is one of my favorite characters of all time

Here’s my theory. Dina lures Ellie knowing all along she’s immune. Then Dina ambushes Ellie and Joel then proceeds to kill Joel in front of Ellie. Ellie escapes and hunts Dina down.

That seems like a really good concept but at the same time I hope it's not true because Joel is like 50 per cent of the story in last of us one and is a likeable character.
Marlene Said in 1 of the recordings to Ellie’s mom that she had to “kill” Ellie to save mankind, and that Ellie can finally be with her again, does that really mean Ellie’s mom “Anna” is dead? Or was she unsure and assumed Anna died ..... 🤔

I'm afraid to see how Joel and Elli's relationship will unveil if she finds out that Joel lied to her. I can't go through those emotions man. I hope it's not bad. I can't see their dad/daughter relationship come to an end. I'm truly Afraid.
I’m so glad I only recently got into TLOU when the remaster released on ps plus because if I had to wait 3 years for part 2 I would go insane. Come to think of it I was blasting through the uncharted collection and experiencing that series for the first time in 2016. Feels so different.
I know it’s not an integral part to the story, but one thing nobody seems to mention about Tommy in the story trailer, is the bruising on his face. He was probably the one who found Ellie and saved her.
There’s never been a video game that illicits this type of emotional reaction. In fact, I don’t even look at the franchise as games anymore. They’re actually very visceral & human experiences delivered VIA a video game. I consider your videos on The Last of Us series some of the best perspectives out there today 👍🏻
The shot with Ellie all beat up is not from the beginning of the game. You can see her hair is different. She has the same hair as she does LATER in the game. Also where is she...? Looks like some clothing store or something. You can kind of see a manikin in the corner.
Same here,I feel like tje gun shot is happening where the dude is being tortured and is almost naked,mixed that sound with the scene where Ellie says No.
The ONLY problem with this theory, that being the fireflies are the target, is the way Tommy talks about them in the trailer. “You have no idea how big that group is. How armed.” Etc. If it was the fireflies, Tommy would know way more about them and be able to properly caution Ellie
Sebastian Ragosta, I thought the same thing until Joel Grabs her and pulls her back to hide her in the trailer. Now I’m thinking that Joel is gonna live for a while longer.
Moonlight Gamer like the guy said in the video, they like to deceit the viewers when it comes to trailers and the order of scenes. I’m not a huge follower of the “Joel is killed” theory but I wouldn’t put it past Naughty Dog to throw a red herring. Like perhaps, Ellie leaves to do one thing, a more “harmless” thing(track down the Fireflies to be the cure, with the assistance of Tommy who used to be one). Maybe Tommy is called back home/refuses to go with her because he needs to take care of things at home. Ellie goes on her own maybe. That’s when Joel gets involved, unwilling to let her go alone. Then Joel eventually meets his demise, changing Ellie’s intentions entirely. Going from someone who is willing to sacrifice herself for mankind, to someone who is hunting it down mercilessly. Again, theories are just fun and have lots of holes in them because we’re not psychics. I have no idea how Dina would play into it, or other points. But my main point is: don’t rule anything out entirely.
I've played every kind of game on every kind of platfom going all the way back to Amigas and TRS-80's. I never saw anything like this. To bad my 5 year old can't see anything like this. This is an incredible project. Just incredible.
At (5:29) am I the only one who notices that the shot between Ellie and Joel is obviously a cut made to look like they're in the same place? Ellie's on a road of sorts, and she turns to face that road when addressing whoever puts their hand over her mouth. But Joel's cut is obviously in an old building, by a stairway no less. In fact, a lot of this story trailer consists of cuts exactly like that, trying to trick us into thinking the story is pretty linear.
