It would be an interesting experiment however since he played game 1 before the show I think he should play game 2 before season 2. Either way works and adds something to the channel!
This is already gonna be even harder to watch than the game. It feels heavier and its for sure gonna be sad asf. PLus i f you played the game it looks shot for shot.
Even thinking about the story now I'm feeling a LOT of emotions that hit me almost as personally as if real life. Truly the greatest storytelling masterpiece I can recall in my life. Whether it was what we wanted or not
3:55 It will be. They already confirmed that the show is running for Emmys 2025. And the show's first 6 episodes have to air before May of 2025 to be in the awards season. So i expect it to be January 2025.
Can't wait! This was in my opinion, the best video game adaptation to any media I've ever seen! Very excited how Season 2 will bring to the legacy that is "The Last of Us." 🙂
I feel like it's worth noting that the showrunners have said season 2 will not fully cover everything in TLoU Part 2 and that it will take 2-3 seasons to fully tell Part 2's story- meaning the show won't cover fully cover Part 2 until at least the end of season 3 which is however many years away. It'd be nice to have someone going in blind but if Aaron doesn't play the game, he won't get the full story for another 3+ years at the earliest.
which makes the scenes that look like the porch scene seem out of place. That happened at the end of the game... why would they have it in this first season for the second game? It's such an impactful scene because it happens so late in the game. To have it earlier would ruin it's impact
Aaron you should play the game! It's soooo good! Also it would be great to have you all know the story so you can discuss the episodes without worrying about spoiling Aaron
@LaCheeserie staying away from the comments is easy. But if they start discussing spoilers in their reactions (they're usually good at not doing that), I would avoid watching their reactions altogether.
Everyone got hyped about Fallout (deservedly) but this is still the superior adaptation imo. In terms of faithfulness they're both 10/10, but TLoU is extremely compelling emotionally.
3:40 HBO has said TLOU season 2 will air in the first half of the year. They apparently want it to be eligible for the Emmys next fall, so it would have to air or start airing before May 31.
It’s such a breath of fresh air hearing from other people that loved Part 2. It’s my favorite game of all time. Like they said… it was probably the most memorable experience I’ve ever had playing a video game
The biggest problem of part 2 is that the barebones plot details leaked beforehand, so many people made up their mind to hate it before it even released.
I agree with Eric, I almost don't want to watch it because I can anticipate the heartbreak. Simultaneously I have watched their reaction to 1x3 more times than I want to admit and cried each time so...
Play the game now. It's perfection. Let's hope the show does as good a job - it likely will based on the incredible job HBO did with season one. But when a game is this good it should be experienced now before the show and the internet spoil all its magic.
Part 2 is one of the finest pieces of media in any medium. Its pure perfection from start to finish, the way they take you through emotions is so damn wild.. It was only after finishing the game to where I thought back in how the game made me feel.. And holy shit, there's nothing like this experience.. But if you're not into dark content, well its realllly dark.
PSA IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED PART 2 WAIT UNTIL AFTER THE SHOW YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE THE GREATEST SERIES OF TELEVISION FOR 2025 AND JUST PERIOD YOU ARE NOT READY.
I watched Season 1 first. Played the games (both of them) 2nd. I love them both ❤ The game is excellent. The show is also excellent. I'm looking forward to Season 2.
As soon as this started, especially with THAT song, I felt the tears building. I know I’m going to be an emotional wreck when this drops. It looks like they’re being VERY faithful to the second game, so a certain scene is probably going to be exactly the same too. I hope no-one spoils it for Aaron, whether he plays the game before hand or not.😭
Can you guys clear something up for me. The trailer shows a massive horde headed for Jackson, but that didnt happen in the game. Thats exactly why Dina, Ellie, Jessie and the others patrol, so that they didnt bunch up. Is that supposed to happen in Part 3, or is this a different take on it
I know Eric and Calvin have already played it. But come on Aaron please play Part 2 pretty please with cherry on top LOL. They just released The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered on the PS5 a few months ago.
Playing the game IS the way to experience this story. You won’t get the same emotional connection from the show as you would the game. I think it’ll ruin the experience in a way if you watch the story instead of playing it first
I like Calvin actually enjoyed part II more than Tlou part I, I think it would be cool for Aaron to come into the show without any idea of where the show is going but if he decides to play part II first I'll be there and I think experiencing Tlou through the game is just as good as the show if not more! Super excited either way & can't wait 💪
January is my bet. They are on track with how they promoted season 1. 2nd trailer probably early December for a mid January release date just like season 1.
as much as I love the show and they are nailing it....I think you should experience Part 2 with the original actors in the game first because its def something special. But, I do also agree it'd be interesting to have the other perspective.
It’s gonna come out before next summer. They want to be able to get nominations for the Emmys in the fall.. they’re not gonna wanna wait till the next Emmys in 2026 😅
I even remember what happened in the first season as it was so long ago. I assumed that it would be out in a couple of months. Remember the days when you would get shows that had 20 episodes per season year after year? I miss those days! 😪
I read a theory that Abby was seen in Season 1 running away when Joel is shooting up the hospital. Actually having her almost get killed by Joel the day he killed her dad could increase her hatred of him.
I think we'll get the flashback, but we'll end on that reveal on her Dad being the doctor, but the you wasted it will be where we leave the present for Season 2.
We are facing the arrival and preparing for most of the moments that came to really become the scenes of sadness and epic form of the game. PEDRO NO!!!
I recommend playing the game first. In my opinion, it's a true masterpiece that is not worth skipping. And you can have better discussions after watching each episode instead of constantly circling around spoilers all the time. But it's all up to Aaron of course. 👍
I’d argue aaron should play the game either before the show or play along. That way he has both experiences and can be in discussions of what they did right/wrong. If any scenes were changed or removed. It’s all for discussion time and doing both would help.
The only issue with not having everyone on the same page is that you can't discuss everything openly, but it would be a really interesting dynamic to keep Aaron blind to the game and just absorb the show for what it is. The show will be in two parts, so if he doesn't play the game, it will be quite a while before he can if he wants to keep the same dynamic to the first part of season 2.
Id save the game till after Aaron. I think having the different POVs from the group would make for better reactions and discussions. You could always play pt II after this season finishes.
A dream come true for real gamers. Thanks MAX , A D ALL THE CAST OF THIS SHOW . THIS IS NOT FOR TOXICS. ONLY REAL PEOPLE LIKE GAMES AND SEEING THIS IS A DREAM COME TRUE
I can't be the first one to say this, but I'm not seeing it... outbreak day in the SHOW was in 2003, not 2013. They changed it so the 20-year time jump put it in present day for the release of the show. In the game, the events were taking place in the future (2033).
I feel like the therapy sessions with Catherine O'Hara's character will take up most of this season, sonce HBO said they're splitting up TLOU2 into S2 and S3. So my guess is that this season's finale will be Abbey doing the thing, so HBO needed to pad the runtime since it happens fairly early in the game.
Only thing I'm begging for them not to have is the boat scene. Please. Especially since I watch this with my mom and she's already gonna be pissed at me about lying about Joel.
It's so hard to say! And I agree with Calvin, it really is up to Aaron and what he feels like his best experience would be. That being said, I was really happy that Aaron didn't go on to play part 2 right away, simply because I know that the second season will be a very memorable television experience for anyone who has not. I think him going in blind is a great idea, as far as objectively for the reaction's sake. I am so excited!!!!!!! lol.
The scene that usually got me in the game was the one with Joel strumming his guitar on the porch and Ellie shows up to chat to him, if you know you know
I vote no game. Let Aaron watch it without knowing. You guys didn't specify but I gather he isn't aware of Part 2 spoilers? If that is indeed the case, more reason to NOT play the game beforehand imo.
man I don't know if I'll be able to do it, and I LOVE part 2. first playthrough, yeah I cried like a baby but I feel like I've only absorbed the story more over the years, seen too many incredible analyses; I think the show is gonna be too visceral for me, but dammit I'll try
I feel like the game is such a trip, especially because you as a player are usually much more immersed in a game compared to shows where you just sit there and watch. So even though season 2 might be as awesome as season 1 or even better, the game would still most likely be the superior experience. Thats also the case when comparing season 1 with TLOU Part 1. So I'd prefer playing the game first and get the "blind" experience out of the game rather than the show.
I would say to Aaron that he should watch it without playing the game because I had the same experience and loved the show because I didn’t expect what was coming. However even though both the game and show execute the same story, it is different since they’re two different mediums so it didn’t really affect my experience of the story after playing the game.
I'm glad people liked part 2. the certain 'event' just ripped me out of the game and I couldn't finish it. Maybe one day i'll go back, but it still hurts too much.
Godspeed to Kaitlyn Dever. There were some things about the game that I was not a fan of, but Abby was not one of them. I actually really enjoyed her arc (I know that would get me shot in some circles of fans lol). Here's hoping that Dever is not subjected to a ton of irrational hatred. We do not need to revisit that episode after the game came out. Let's just hope we don't get another pointless episode within the series that does absolutely nothing to move the plot along and only exists to appease a certain small sect of the fanbase (looking at you Bill and Frank episode)
I'm so happy to hear I'm not the only one who absolutely loved Part 2 and praised the game for being one of the best sequels ever made to an otherwise 10/10 standalone story game. I am still of the opinion that the world wasn't ready and that with time, it will grow on people.
