Hello friends! Here's FINALLY the last page in my sketchbook before I show you the full tour of the finished sketchbook!! 🍎 I totally get what you mean about vibes, I used the moleskine watercolour book and the quality wasn't great, there was a weird resistance to water and paint on some of the pages, as if there was oil on the paper but I loved the feeling of painting in that sketchbook. I think because it was such bad quality, I didn't feel pressured to fill it with brilliance which, in turn, allowed me to create some of my best paintings in it, I did say I would never go back to it because of the weird way it reacted but I kinda miss it and never feel the same way when using other sketchbooks!

These apples are fantastic! 😁 And I really needed a good chat about sketchbooks: I often use gouache and watercolour, and I'm always searching for a good mixed media sketchbook that doesn't ripple too much (I hate when I can't close them because their pages hate my watering! 📗💦 🖌😅). Hi your work is amazing and you have inspired me to get a sketchbook instead of endless pieces of paper to work on, also going smaller might not be so overwhelming. Can I ask do you gesso the pages first ???

I was just thinking of you and feeling guilty I hadn't ordered anything... So my last comment months ago is relevant again, this full book is like a brick of gold in terms of value. For my paranoid mind, would be kept under museum quality protection & bank grade security!

Gouache really seems like a fun medium to use! Recently I decided to give them a try myself, I also signed up for a gouache painting course to follow the exact indications of someone who already knows what they're doing, but I have to say I'm struggling a lot...I can't seem to get that consistency where the paint is fluid but opaque at the same time. If I barely add any water, the paint is too thick and it leaves a textured mark from the bristles of the brush. If I add more water and get to that melted ice cream consistency everyone is talking about, it's too transparent and the layer below is showing through, and that happened even when using the paint rated as fully opaque...what am I doing wrong?🫠

Heyyyyy frequent gouache user hereeee!!! It could totally depend on the brand you are using! Butttt I think the main thing to focus on is water control so if wen u add water ur not accounting for the water that’s also left in the brush that’s what will give you the melted ice cream! I’d say try adding the amount of water u think u need after it’s a consistency u like try wiping some of the extra water off on the brush before dipping again and painting ! What has helped me may not work for everyone but I’ve definitely gotten great results it’s also about LAYERSSSS❤️
