My grandad used to be a professional trumpeter for our navy. He had to play this piece at official occassions. I'm now learning the trumpet on that very intrument. Hope to one day be able to play this piece in his honor.
Ah I remember when I had to do this for my school when I was younger. The comments that I got from other younger students about their ancestors roles in the war was just beautiful 😢
My grandpa served in WWII - although he never actually fought, he played trombone in a military jazz band, and then professionally once he left, which is also how he met my grandma. He died before I was born, but my grandma is still alive, and now I’m playing trombone for both of them. Thank you for this tribute.

As someone who has played this countless times, you sound amazing! We differ only slightly in stylistic choices but your sound is fantasitc! They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest we forget.
My gramps played the cornet for the army and passed it down to mom later on, and she inspired me to be a 3rd generation brasser. So here I am running circles around both of them in terms of technical prowess, but gramps lost his edge and mom's still bested me tone-wise. For now, that is.
