I just finished all seasons and it’s one of the best series I have ever seen !!!! Now,my heart is broken. I would really like the sixth season! We definitely need Commander Tom Chandler and Nathan James!
Hey everyone! Forget this TV show. Read the book instead. "The Last Ship" by William Brinkley is one of my favorite books ever and this show diverges so far from it. The only things taken from the book into the show are the names of the ship, USS Nathan James, and the captain, Captain Thomas. It's about surviving a nuclear apocalypse instead of a global pandemic and is far more character focused instead of action focused.
I started watching it yesterday on Hulu and I'm already almost done with season two I can't stop watching it, so good! Not sure why people take this whole "yeah America saving the world again" bullshit so seriously, it's just a tv show that's very entertaining Jeez!!
This is one helluva good movie and TV series. I just stumbled upon it last week when I couldn't decide what to watch. The script, story line, characters and acting is first rate. Every episode is exciting and riveting.
Just finished the series, one hell of a roller coaster ride. Eric Dane as Tom Chandler was just perfect. The overall feel of the series was just too good, wished they had shown the aftermath of the war and how the world went back to normal... pretty damn good show...
Wish it were following the plot of the book moreso. Virus doesn't have the same punch and moral implications as nuclear war. At this point I'm only going to watch this because Adam Baldwin is in it.
Guys, it's a TV series produced by an American. What right-minded American producer wouldn't make the show about HIS OWN country? Also, if one of the European countries made a show about a similar topic, it would probably be their own country saving the world. So none of you guys can say anything.
So your telling me, that on a routine extraction with nearly 0% probability of encountering hostiles. They brought an RPG launcher with them on those snowmobiles.

John Mckinney well, you know it's michael bay directed right? you could probably even see a beggar hiding grenade launcher in their back for all i know.
Shut your mouth, so no more STUPID will leak out!! Its a BATTLE SHIP, duh! If your a battle ship, you have weapons and... NO they did not have them on a snow mobile!!!! Stop the hate!!
The last season jumped the shark. I mean, a WW2 battleship? Seriously, they didn't even have the budget to show the ship, only for a few seconds. What were they thinking?
Ignore the negative comments down below and watch the show for yourself!! I usually don't watch to many series that are non-HBO or pay cable, but this one got me after the pilot episode and I watched the first two seasons over the course of the weekend.
i only got notice of this show because bridget regan my love from legend of the seeker is now joining in season 3.this show is so incredibly dense it might even be entertaining. and theres probably some nice naval combat too. I mean surely it will be completely blown over the top but you dont see naval combat that often in movies or tv shows.
Not at all. I was imagining smart people making smart decisions such as we can cast in a movie unlike having people make decisionswho you wouldn't trust to manage a Sonic Drive In eatery.
Almost a whole year between seasons, is it any wonder why these shows lose viewers, people just forget about them. I really like this show, but a whole year is just NUTS.
whats the name of the beautiful song that is played when the commander speaks to his crew at the end of the episode1 in season1 around 41 minutes. thank you...
I have to admit I find it strange to see Russia fly the American made MH-53 Sea Dragon(can't quite identify the smaller ones) . One would think they would have rendered an Mi-17 or the Ka-31. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the show, it was rather entertaining.
They've definitely changed the story from the book. The book is about I believe the same destroyer trying to make it after a nuclear war with the Soviets. This seems more a hybrid of the book, any number of virus movies, and what have you. Could be interesting or may end up like Last Resort from ABC--cancelled after five or so episodes.
8 Years. Until now, Only certain Submarines and The United States Aircraft Carriers run on Nuclear Power. Destroyers, Frigates, Cruisers currently all run on a Normal Fuel Supply. There might be some classified Projects which contain Nuclear Powered DDG's, etc. But what is available to the public only Certain Submarines and Aircraft Carriers run on Nuclear Power.
I know it's just a show but. The Arleigh Burke destroyers can carry up to 90 SM-2/Tomahawks that has a range of 150 miles yet none was fired. The Destroyer has the AEGIS system yet the CIWS and the 5 inch gun only seem to work when it was to late and since when did the Russians use the CH-53 Sea Stallions
+TheAviationGuy whodoesAviationstuff Guess there were no Russian Helicopters available, and, if there were, they were unreliable. But it should be remembered that a Russian immigrant named Igor Sikorsky designed and manufactured some truly great fling-wing aircraft.
Mike Browne In my opinion Igor Sikorsky is the best inventors when it came to helicopters, but I'm just saying a modern advanced warship like the Arleigh Burke with superior long-range weaponry should have been able to take those helicopters before the pilots could even see the ship, makes you wonder what the gunners on board that ship was thinking. Act like the British "We let them come closer, closer then we fire"
+TheAviationGuy whodoesAviationstuff More meller drammer if you can see both combatants. I guess. My Navy days ended in 1965, but I imagine an Arleigh Burke class tin can could take out an airborne hostile 200 miles over the horizon.
